About the role

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our committed Board of Trustees as we enter a pivotal phase of our strategy. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of an organisation that changes lives every day.

Our Chair will lead our Board to support our growth, impact, innovation and systemic reform ambitions, all in partnership with the disabled children, young people and families that we support. The Chair will collaborate closely with our Chief Executive and develop relationships with incoming and existing Trustees, balancing respectful and constructive dialogue that blends challenge and support.

As Chair, you will provide strategic oversight, ensuring all Trustees and the Chief Executive share a clear sense of purpose and that our strategic objectives align with Kids’ vision and mission. You will lead effective governance, ensuring Board meetings achieve clear

outcomes and focus on key strategic issues. Your leadership will drive continual Board development, facilitate collaboration between our executive leadership team and Trustees, and represent the organisation to stakeholders while developing positive relationships across our community.

Who we are looking for

We seek a Chair with a genuine interest, passion and fluency in our sector. It would be helpful if our Chair could bring lived experience of disability, directly or through association. You will bring significant Board-level experience with an understanding of key governance requirements for Trustees, ideally with experience in supporting organisational change and growth.

Your experience operating at a senior executive level in the charitable, public, or private sector will be complemented by your commitment to our vision, values, and purpose, ensuring these remain front of mind in decision-making. You will demonstrate an exceptional ability to steward involvement and mutual respect, actively ensuring every voice is heard and valued.

The successful candidate will lead dynamic and constructive conversations with skill and tact, building respectful relationships with Trustees, the Chief Executive, executive leadership team and wider stakeholders. Your diplomatic and empathetic communication style will enable you to engage meaningfully with people from diverse backgrounds, while your networking skills will benefit our advocacy and partnership work.

Time Commitment:

The regular commitments include Board meetings, which are held four times a year in London in person, with an annual strategy away day every year. Our sub-committees typically meet online up to four times per year. Additional meetings with the Chief Executive and senior team will be required as needed, along with representing us at external events and meetings.

The overall time investment amounts to the equivalent of two to three days per month. Preparation time for meetings and decision-making is essential, with occasional visits to our services across England and representation at external events as appropriate.

About us

The Maudsley Hospital in Camberwell first opened in 1915, initially as a military hospital and then in 1923 as a psychiatric hospital. The hospital is home to both inpatient and outpatient services for children and adults. We provide more than 240 services to people in our local communities as well as being the UK's leading provider of national and specialist services.

About the role

We would like to develop a mobile library project across our wards at Maudsley Hospital in Southwark. We are looking for 2-4 volunteers to support this. With this project we envisage that volunteers would go onto the wards and sit or stand in communal areas offering and supporting service users to choose books of interest. The library would be a mixture of fiction and non-fiction books with some activity sheets e.g. word searches, cross words, therapeutic colouring in, journalling resources etc. The role could also involve procuring new book donations externally. 

You will help support service users to find books that match their interests and are accessible in font size, language, and current reading ability. You will also help to procure new book donations for the library from the public, staff at the Trust, and external sources. You will help to organise donated books into genres, which would include library spaces and bookshelves. You will have the opportunity to develop and evaluate the project in line with service user and staff involvement

About you

This role is available on weekdays between 9:00am-1:00pm and 2:00pm-5:00pm. The expected commitment is 2-3 hours a week, for a minimum of 9 months. 

This role is suitable for volunteers who are 18 years or older. People with lived experience of mental health conditions are encouraged to apply.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting a team of volunteers to join our new Welcome team at Tooting Hub. This is a new role. Welcome volunteers will provide a friendly face to existing community members attending our regular projects. They will also be the important ‘face of CARAS and our welcome at the door’ to people attending projects for the first time, to visitors and to people dropping in unannounced to enquire about CARAS’s service. Volunteers will meet and greet, and ensure all visitors are responded to appropriately and introduced to the relevant member of staff, activity, project, or meeting. There will be an administrative element to the role (updating registers and emailing enquiries to CARAS staff, for example).

Who will you be?

We work hard to ensure our services feel welcoming and inclusive. It is important that this new team is representative of our diverse local and internal CARAS community. Whether you are new to volunteering with CARAS or are a regular volunteer looking to vary your role or a community member wanting to develop some leadership skills or volunteering experience, this might be the exact project for you.

Volunteer Tasks and Responsibilities: 

· Signing up to a shift/s on the Tooting HUB welcome team rota

· Able to be at Tooting Hub in person to complete agreed shifts

· Welcoming staff, volunteers, existing and potential new community members and visitors

· Ensuring all visitors are responded to appropriately and introduced to the relevant member of staff, activity, project, or meeting

· Ensuring everyone completes the onsite register on arrival to comply with safeguarding, health and safety and fire evacuation policies

· Taking agreed initial intake information for new / drop in visitors wanting to attend a taster activity

· Conducting induction tours of the building and introductions to facilities, key staff, and partners

Requirements (all experience can be from paid or voluntary roles): 

Essential: 

· A calm, friendly, kind, and patient approach

· Happy and confident to meet new people and put them at their ease

· Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English

· To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds

· Confidence in using one’s own judgement to follow agreed policy

· Good IT admin skills in using Microsoft office, outlook, Google search, online forms etc

· A commitment to confidentiality and data protection

· Punctual and reliable

· To be able to volunteer on Mondays or Wednesdays for a minimum of four months

Desirable:

· Lived experience of seeking sanctuary and/ or the UK immigration system.

· Personal experience of working with people seeking asylum.

· Proficiency in one or more of the following community languages: Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Oromo, Pashto, Russian, Spanish, Somali, Tigrinya, Urdu, or Vietnamese.

About the Role:

Young People's Service

Honorary therapists work within the Psychotherapy Service at schools to provide emotional and therapeutic support to young people and children with learning disabilities and autistic people who have experienced abuse or trauma. The post will entail jointly assessing and providing individual therapy and having weekly supervision with our therapists.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in (or recently completed) a Level 4 or above counselling/psychotherapy course

• Student member of the BACP, UKCP, HCPC (or equivalent professional body) and adhere to ethical framework of awarding professional body

• Minimum of 50 supervised client hours completed

• Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and inclusivity

• Minimum 1-2 year commitment

The Diana Award are thrilled to invite you to volunteer for our Mentoring Programme this Autumn 2025, which operate across London. 

We collaborate with volunteer mentors to support young people aged 14-18 who are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) through mentoring interventions, career skills development programmes, and support with their youth-led social action projects. 

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER AS A MENTOR? 

We welcome applicants of all industries and levels of experience. Through mentoring you will gain skills in communication and leadership, building empathy and understanding of issues and barriers facing young people in their communities. 

OUR MENTORING PROGRAMMES  

We will be running our exciting Twelve-week Mentoring Programme from October 2025 - February 2026, across London, in the boroughs of Enfield, Tower Hamlets and Sutton. 

The programme will involve: 

• Twelve weeks of in-person weekly mentoring sessions that last one hour (excluding travel) and are delivered on the same day and time each week. 

• Group mentoring, where a group of volunteer mentors work together to support a group of mentees, with the help of a Diana Award Facilitator. 

• Volunteer mentors will share advice and guidance with young people who are at risk of becoming NEET.

We will train you to mentor and provide ongoing support for the duration of your programme. 

The Diana Award can provide you with a professional reference, paid for DBS check, and refund your travel expenses in exchange for your voluntary work.

Responsibilities

• Commit to weekly sessions for twelve weeks, demonstrating consistency and punctuality. Mentoring Programme sessions last 60 to 90 minutes (excluding travel time). Follow through is key when working with young people at risk of becoming NEET. 

• Collaborate with a Diana Award Facilitator and other volunteer mentors to deliver and support group mentoring sessions within a school setting. 

• Review session plans and prepare for weekly sessions. Communicate weekly and in a timely manner with other volunteer mentors and a Diana Award Facilitator. 

• Create a safe and positive learning environment and provide young people with encouragement, guidance, and constructive feedback. 

• Nurture positive relationships with young people. Listen, understand, and acknowledge their feelings and experiences. 

• Support young people to plan a social action project. 

• Foster a growth mindset and encourage young people to challenge themselves to work towards their goals. 

• Support young people’s professional development by connecting them with further opportunities. For example, workplace visits, work experience, resources, relevant networks etc. 

• Identify and report any safeguarding and child protection concerns or disclosures to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, as per The Diana Award Safeguarding Policy.

Baby Basics Northampton is a registered charity that provides moses basket starter packs to parents with new babies in Northamptonshire, via referrals from healthcare professionals and local agencies.

The charity is in its 12th year, and ready to grow in line with community demand for our vital service. We are recruiting a Clerk to the Board of Trustees to ensure this much-loved local charity thrives as it increases both its reach and impact.

Overview

Baby Basics Northampton are seeking a friendly, efficient and reliable individual to act as a clerk to our Trustee (governing) board.

Working effectively with the Chair of Trustees and other Trustees, the Clerk will be responsible preparing agendas for meetings and ensuring the smooth running of meetings and maintaining accurate records.

This is a part-time voluntary role with circa 12 meetings held annually in-person. It is anticipated the role will require a commitment of 4 hours per month. Most meetings are held in the evenings. There may be opportunities to support outside of the meetings at events etc.

Responsibilities

• Produce, collate and distribute agendas and papers to ensure Trustees receive them within the agreed timescale;
• Ensure meetings are quorum;
• Attend meetings and take accurate and objective minutes with timescales for action;
• Submit draft minutes for amendment/approval and circulate approved documents;
• Monitor and report back on actions;
• Maintain records of Trustees membership, attendance, and terms of office;
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times;
• Provide procedural advice to the Trustee Board as required;
• Deal with the administration concerning new Trustee appointments;
• Initiate a welcome pack/letter to be sent to newly appointed Trustees, including details of terms of office;
• Monitor the dedicated email address regularly and respond/forward emails as appropriate;

Requirements

• Good standard of general education.
• Proven experience in an administrative or clerical role is essential.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality.
• Knowledge of charity governance regulations (or willingness to undergo training).
• Proficiency in using email, OneDrive / Sharepoint and online meeting platforms.

Help children as Trustee of an innovative, enterprising Tees Valley Charity that is increasingly supporting children in care through fostering and a planned residential provision. Join an agency that transforms children's lives.

What will you be doing?

You will join us at an exciting time as we pursue growth of fostering and residential services, as well as growth of our early help offer. 

You will work across the Charity and the subsidiary fostering company (which we will amalgamate back into the parent Charity). 

You will have a particular focus on helping the fostering agency drive growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver excellent care for children and support for foster parents. You will provide support and challenge to the management team.

You’ll contribute 2 to 6 hours a month. The Charity board meets every 8 weeks (shifting to quarterly after September) and the fostering board meets every 8 weeks. 

You’ll join a Charity that’s brought £millions of investment into Tees Valley and that helps over 1000 local people a year. We’ve been runners up at the national Charity Governance Awards and ‘community’ winners at the Hartlepool Business Awards.

You will share our vision and want to take a leading role in our journey to be recognised as an outstanding organisation. It would be a significant advantage if you have an understanding or experience of working in the voluntary and community sector, and even more so if you are a current or former resident of Hammersmith & Fulham or have a tangible, established and current connection with the area.

Sobus was formed in 2014 following a merger between the Community & Voluntary Sector Association and Fulham Community Partnership Trust. However, we were first established as the local CVS in Hammersmith & Fulham in 1998.
