BFUK are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate volunteers to support the delivery of our creative and educational hospital workshops. These sessions not only offer children and young people the opportunity to be imaginative, learn something new, and socialise, but also serve as a welcome distraction from time spent in the hospital. About Youth ESOL: 

Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to young people at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling young people to do well at school or college.

About the Role: 

CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face study programme called ‘Get Ready for School.’ 

This programme is attended by young people out of education and is based in Tooting on Mondays and Wednesdays. Core delivery of the programme includes English, Maths, Digital skills, complemented by Reading and Writing for Pleasure.

Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session per week, during these times:

• Monday 10am - 3pm
• Tuesday 2pm - 6pm
• Wednesday 11am - 6pm

Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.

Volunteer  Tasks and Responsibilities: 

• Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes;

• Help young people to build confidence in digital literacy;

• Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

• Engaging learners in informal conversations or games during breaks to help them practice their conversational English.

Young Carers’ Crew is a registered charity (number 1176778) and runs a group which meets to provide emotional and practical support to Young Carers through recreational activities. We give support to local children and young people, who perform a caring role supporting another member of their household. 

Young Carers’ Crew is a small grassroots community group. We are hoping to bring in more people with diverse skills and experience to build sustainability.

• Be committed to the vision, mission and values of the organisation.

• Ensuring that the work of the organisation is monitored and evaluated.
• Maintain that the organisation complies with its governing documents, e.g. constitution.
• Ensure the organisation complies with current Safeguarding Guidelines and Core Standards set out in the Children Act 2004 and Working Together 2013
• Ensure the organisation operates within the law.
• Safeguard the organisation in making efficient use of resources, in particular that all monies are applied to its objectives, agreed plans and budgets.
• Mitigate and manage the risks to the organisation, volunteers and service users.
• To be accountable to membership, funders and other stakeholders.

Experience

No experience is necessary for a general position on the Board of Trustees, just enthusiasm and a willingness to help the organisation grow and support the young carers.

For more specific positions; it would be highly desirable that you bring some experience in the charity sector, social care or in business development. 

So, for example, we would welcome someone with experience of working in a safeguarding role with young people specifically or from an HR background or someone who can help us raise money for the charity. .

About Us

The Story Forge Project is a new, grassroots literacy project based in Grantham. We design imaginative, inclusive workshops for children and young people that build confidence, creativity and a lifelong love of words. From festive letter-writing to story zines and sensory map-making, we’re on a mission to make storytelling part of everyday life - for every child, not just the confident ones.

We’re newly constituted, but growing fast, and now we’re looking for a like-minded volunteer to help us grow our funding base and secure support for our pilot projects across Lincolnshire.

The Role

We’re looking for a volunteer with an interest in literacy, books, children’s creativity or arts fundraising to help us design and coordinate a simple fundraising calendar. You don’t need to be a professional fundraiser, just someone organised, curious, and up for helping a new idea take flight.

Key tasks include:

• Researching small grants and funding opportunities (local councils, trusts, literacy/arts schemes)

• Helping shape a 6–12 month calendar of possible applications or fundraising opportunities

• Supporting with simple application templates and tracking

• Optional: helping build relationships with local businesses, bookshops or sponsors

You won’t need to make asks yourself unless you want to, we’re just looking for someone to help us build the plan and shape our direction. You’ll be working closely with our founder (a children’s author) and will be credited as part of the founding team.

We are currently seeking a volunteer Personal Assistant/Office Manager. This role is ideal for an individual with experience as a P.A./Manager looking to work within the charity sector. 

Responsibilities typically include: 

• Acting as a first point of contact for enquiries: (email/calendar management and phone calls, managing diaries 

• Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence. 

• Miscellaneous tasks to support the CEO which will vary according to projects and tasks but could include fundraising, event planning, social media, community outreach, press & PR. 

• Managing databases and filing systems. 

• Implementing and maintaining procedures/policies & administrative systems 

• Forming a relationship with our clients as they are part of the community. 

Essential skills for this role are: 

• Organisation skills: The ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, and keep track of deadlines is crucial.

Housing for Women is a charity and a housing provider with a mission to empower women and challenge inequality. We support women through affordable housing, help women and children escaping domestic abuse, survivors of trafficking, women leaving prison and older women.

We are looking for a volunteer with finance and administration experience to support our energetic finance department.  This could be someone studying for their ACCA, AAT, CIMA or ACA qualifications, or someone recently qualified who wants some work experience.  Previous volunteers have gone on to get employment within the charity sector.

We are looking for a volunteer who can commit to volunteering at least two days a week for a minimum of six months.
