The National Lottery Community Fund is seeking a Strategic Communication Lead, Wales to drive forward our ambitious communications transformation. This newly created role sits at the heart of our restructured communications function, designed to deliver our strategy "It Starts with Community" and shift our focus to demonstrating the powerful impact communities have across the UK. As we build a new, integrated approach to communications across the UK, this position offers an exceptional opportunity to shape how we tell our story. We are looking for an experienced communications strategist with extensive knowledge of the local political, media and stakeholder landscape. You should bring a sophisticated understanding of how communications can drive organizational objectives and a proven track record of leading integrated campaigns. Your background might include senior communications roles in government, the VCSE sector, or complex organizations operating across devolved administrations, where you've demonstrated ability to navigate diverse stakeholder environments and translate strategic goals into impactful communications activity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications for one Funding portfolio and one mission area, ensuring integration with business planning
• Build and lead matrix teams to deliver integrated communications campaigns
• Develop and implement communications plans that drive engagement with key stakeholders
• Provide senior counsel on reputation management and crisis response
• Act as senior regional point of contact for communications and external affairs
• Ensure consistent messaging across all customer journey touchpoints

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

This role is set for 9-month, ending on 12 January 2026, with the possibility of extension.

The Specialist Support Worker role involves early shifts (8:00-16:00) and late shifts (14:00-22:00) throughout the week, including some weekends each month.

One day you might be crafting social media content that sparks conversation among teachers, the next, you’ll be writing an email newsletter that lands just right with a headteacher seeking evidence-based ideas. You’ll help turn research into engaging, accessible summaries, so schools can quickly grasp key insights and put them into action.

You’ll also update and improve our For Schools website pages, ensuring every word is useful and user-friendly. Behind the scenes, you’ll track performance using analytics, learning what works and what could work even better. About the opportunity

We're in a fantastic position to have recently have partnered with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) for an evaluation of our programmes. Excitingly this means we will be expanding our reach and starting to work in geographies that we've not reached before.

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in Hull.
The Hull Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
The Hull Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; regularly attending weekly tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
• Responsible for overseeing the quality of tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery. Provide regular check-ins with tutors to ensure ample support and guidance is given to provide targeted tuition to pupils.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers. Maintain clear and timely communication with relevant school staff, offering regular check-ins with key school stakeholders, and contribute to impact reporting to schools. Supporting the Programme Manager with strategies to retain and sustain school partnerships.
• Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.
• Proactively report to the Programme Manager on the details of Action Tutoring’s operations in their partner schools.

Role Overview:

The Head of Governance, Risk & Company Secretary is a pivotal leadership role within St John Ambulance Cymru (SJAC), responsible for ensuring the charity’s governance, legal compliance, risk management, and quality assurance functions are robust, effective, and strategically aligned with our goals.

This dual-role combines governance oversight with the leadership of organisational quality systems, ensuring that SJAC remains a trusted, safe, and high-performing organisation. The postholder will serve as Company Secretary to the Board and also lead operational governance initiatives across the charity.

What you’ll need to be successful

To thrive as our Head of Governance, Risk & Company Secretary, you’ll need leadership experience, particularly in governance, compliance, or quality assurance—ideally within a charity or healthcare setting. You’ll bring a strong understanding of governance codes and/or systems, risk management frameworks, and UK charity law along with the ability to manage sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion. A Chartered Governance Institute (ICSA) qualification or equivalent is desirable, as is experience acting as a Company Secretary. You’ll be confident leading cross-functional teams, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the organisation. Flexibility, integrity, and a commitment to our values are essential.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Governance and Secretariat

• Lead the governance function, ensuring excellent support and strategic guidance to the Board, Committees, CEO and SLT.
• Manage statutory duties including Companies House and Charity Commission filings.
• Oversee Trustee induction, development, and ongoing governance training.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of agendas, minutes, and decision records.
• Act as the primary liaison for legal, constitutional, and regulatory matters.

Quality, Risk and Assurance

• Develop and maintain quality assurance systems to monitor performance and learning.
• Line manage the Health, Safety & Environment Business Partner and National Facilities Manager.
• Oversee investigations into complaints, serious incidents, and whistleblowing concerns.
• Maintain and report on the Board Assurance Framework and Risk Register.
• Lead preparation and coordination for audits (including ISO, Home Office, and other regulators).
• Ensure that actions taken in pursuit of the Quality, Risk and Assurance agenda link to a budget and engage with the relevant budget holders as required. 

Regulatory and Legal Compliance

• Serve as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer.
• Ensure organisational compliance with relevant legislation (charity, company, GDPR, health & safety, etc.).
• Review internal policies and procedures to maintain regulatory alignment.
• Advise departments and project leads on relevant compliance and risk issues.

Culture and Continuous Improvement

• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure that quality, governance, and assurance practices reflect the charity’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Support alignment across St John Councils and internal departments with national standards and policies.
