Barnardo's are excited to be recruiting to a new post – a Wellbeing Practitioner who will be embedded within the Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Young People (UASC) team within Nottinghamshire County Council. This new opportunity will be part of the larger Time 2 Talk team based within Nottinghamshire County Council's Leaving Care team.
We are recruiting to one fixed term post of one year at 37 hours per week. This post will be employed by Barnardo's and will primarily be based in Arnold. However the post will involve travel across the County and potentially further afield depending on where UASC young people are located.Nottinghamshire County Council's UASC team works across children in care and leaving care services, and works with young people from the age of approx. 14 to 25.
We are looking to recruit 1 full time (37 hours) Wellbeing Practitioner for one year with the following qualifications/skills/experience:
- A professional qualification (Minimum Diploma level), with evidence of continuing professional development in a field relevant to child and young person mental health
- Registered with a Professional Body such as BACP, HCPC, UKCP, NMC
- Experience in supporting children and young people in one or more ways detailed below:

- A commitment to working in partnership and collaborating with the Leaving Care team and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust particularly the Transitions team, the Children in Care CAMHS team and Adult Mental Health services.
- Experience offering mental health support, consultation and interventions to young people and professionals working with them; ensuring the young person actively participates in planning their own support.

Hounslow Young People is Supported Accommodation Service for young people and young parents aged 16-25 in Hounslow. The Service encompasses a mix of units across six sites supporting 57 vulnerable young people and 19 teen parents. The aim of the service is to empower Young People to move towards independent living, supporting their successful transition from childhood; laying the foundations for healthy, ambitious, and safe adult lives with minimal ongoing support. About the Role:
Waking Night Support Worker will work in line with person centred risk assessments; support plans and liaise with Support Workers to provide comprehensive handover and partnership working. They will be observant of changes in behaviour and presentations ensuring appropriate actions are taken to document and report changes in support needs of young people. Waking Night Support Worker will be able to carry out all necessary health and safety actions including light cleaning tasks and environment management. Furthermore they will actively seek out ways to work with the team and stakeholders to improve the experience of young people in the service. Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of approx 7-10 young people .You will be expected to deliver positive outcomes for all our young people and support them to reach independence, keep safe and maintain their tenancy's. About this key role
Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, and produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process. You will be expected to deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues as the situation dictates, providing practical help such as social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work and debt advice.
We will also rely on you to develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, ensuring a steady flow of appropriate referrals onto the scheme, and with regional agencies, including police and social services. Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future, is also an essential aspect of this role.
What we are looking for
- To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Bradford.
- Experience in negotiation with partner agencies to establish links to further aims of the project.
- Experience of engaging successfully with people with challenging or complex needs.
- To have a relevant qualification to a good standard, or be working towards one.
- Sound knowledge of ‘County Lines’ and the Government’s Prevent programme .
- Knowledge of services for offenders and patterns of offending in Leeds borough/s.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.

The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.
The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across London on a spot purchase basis.
Support workers will manage a number of young people to help them to identify, plan and achieve their goals, develop relationships meaningful to them and achieve greater independence by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.
This is a Waking Night role working to support young people throughout the night at the service. This role completed 10 hour shifts 4 days a week across all days of the week.

About the Service

About the Role
Assist in the day-to-day delivery of the service, managing a small service user caseload with the overall goal of supporting these women to sustain a (new) tenancy
Provide trauma-informed, solution-focused support to service users, tailored to individual needs and aspirations, with service users being able to choose as far as possible, what, how and when support is delivered
Advocate where appropriate on behalf of service users with external agencies regarding their welfare rights, Primary Health Care needs and other issues affecting their health and well being
Promote social inclusion, encourage independence and develop personal resilience of women with multiple needs affected by violence
Maintain accurate case notes and up to date records
Attend and contribute to multi agency safeguarding meetings e.g. MARAC, as appropriate
About You
Some experience in providing emotional and/or practical support to women who have experienced VAWG, homelessness or multiple disadvantage
Knowledge of the particular needs of women from diverse communities and the barriers to accessing support faced by black and minoritized women
Experience of working in partnerships with other agencies e.g. signposting, making referrals, supporting with appointments
An understanding of the impact of trauma on women experiencing abuse
Awareness of the intersection between severe and multiple disadvantage and VAWG, and an understanding of how the intersection of these issues can make it difficult for people to engage with support
A good knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures
Ability to provide strengths based support.
A resilient and assertive approach to reaching out to and building trust and positive relationships with women who have complex/multiple needs and who may present as reluctant to engage and/or may be presenting in crisis
Excellent organisational, ICT, written and verbal communication skills

Walking With The Wounded supports those who have served in the Armed Forces and their families. We specialise in developing pathways into employment with organisations who recognise and value the unique skills and qualities of our ex-service personnel.
For this role, your caseload will be received from the NHS.
It is recognised that secure and appropriate employment is a key factor for improved mental health, therefore, you will form part of that individual’s wider support team in providing the specialist employment support element. You will be expected to work closely with referring partners, meeting regularly to feedback on the progress with individual service users. You will also need to work with local organisations; developing a bank of employers who are willing to explore supporting your clients, securing work placement opportunities, identifying any necessary training, sourcing competitive roles and, where this is successful, providing in-work support to both employer and employee to ensure a smooth transition.
In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your skills in a supportive, inclusive environment. Training will be provided, and we encourage our staff to develop their own personal and professional skills.
