About the role

The Finance and Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the charity’s financial and operational functions. This includes managing day-to-day accounting, producing management reports, maintaining and improving processes, line-managing the administrator, and leading key projects across Finance, IT and HR. The role plays a central part in supporting the operational effectiveness and strategic growth of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Finance

• Manage the charity’s day-to-day accounts, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping.
• Prepare financial reports for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and management staff.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Support annual audits and liaise with external accountants as required.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and charity reporting standards.

Operations

• Develop and implement operational processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Line manage the Administrator, ensuring they support both finance (bookkeeping) and wider administrative tasks across the organisation.
• Oversee HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and record-keeping, as part of operational projects.
• Manage IT and technology initiatives, including the implementation of systems to improve organisational efficiency.
• Project manage key organisational initiatives in finance, HR, and IT, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.

Collaboration

• Act as a key point of contact for operational matters across the organisation.
• Work closely with the SLT to provide insights and recommendations based on financial and operational data.
• Support the team in adopting and embedding new processes and technologies.

Qualifications

• Recognised financial qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CAI, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAS, ICAEW, or equivalent)

Experience

• Proven experience in organisational finance and bookkeeping
• Experience in producing management accounts and reports for senior leadership
• Experience in project management, particularly in implementing finance, HR, or IT systems.

The Role

Active Together is a multimodal prehabilitation and rehabilitation service that has been developed by world leading academics and practitioners at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) at Sheffield Hallam University and funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research.  The Active Together Programme is designed to prepare people with cancer for, and recover from, treatment quickly and to assist them to maintain healthy lifestyles after their cancer diagnosis. Further, the research evidence shows that exercise, part of the Active Together Service, can improve survival and quality of life of cancer patients.

The charity will be delivering the Active Together programme through our new Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre at Cherry Tree Court, Hull. The service will be open to patients in Hull and the surrounding areas. 

Reporting to the Lead Fitness Instructor, as the Fitness Instructor will be responsible for delivering the physical activity component of the Active Together programme; supporting and advising on a range of fitness activities / services to develop and deliver a rehabilitation service for adults with a cancer diagnosis; working collaboratively to deliver a multidisciplinary, inclusive and responsive service, ensuring customer service excellence and responding to service user diversity.

Specifically, you will:

 Service delivery and operations

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver the evidence based Active Together service as developed by the AWRC in the charity’s first bespoke cancer centre.
• Provide advice, guidance and support to adult service users affected by cancer, adhering to service standards; providing high quality care and support.
• Support service users who may have difficulties relating to the complex emotional, psychological and physical aspects of their cancer diagnosis.
• Create, evaluate and reassess individualised and group exercise plans in order to formulate a specialised programme of care for service users.
• Prepare for and conduct follow up appointments / assessments and report into Lead Fitness Instructor for review following appointments.
• Deliver group and individual exercise classes as part of the Active Together Service.
• Work closely with the AWRC to ensure the Active Together Programme is implemented correctly ensuring treatment fidelity and to ensure evaluation data is collected.
• Support the development and operation of administrative systems relevant to the service for data collection and record keeping within an agreed framework.
• Provide guidance and support for a diverse range of queries; maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive issues with appropriate tact and diplomacy.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of processes and procedures for the team, including guidelines and standards of good practice for rehabilitation of adults affected by cancer.

Communications

• Assist with communications and the promotion of activities/services following an established set of protocols and principles, in collaboration with other areas delivering the Active Together programme as required.
• Support the development of online and public-facing resources and proactively ensure information is kept up to date and accurate e.g. social media channels, designated websites.

 

Key working relationships

· Liaise with health care professionals to ensure service users are appropriately referred to physiotherapy, nutritional and psychological support as needed.

· Draft communications between the service and healthcare professionals regarding onward referrals or any queries relating to patient reporting symptoms, under the supervision of the lead fitness instructor or service manager. 

· Work collaboratively across the multidisciplinary service team to provide consistent and high-quality service provision; liaise with stakeholders and colleagues; share information and represent the area in working groups and meetings.

General

· Embody the charity’s values both within and outside the organisation, role modelling behaviour and supporting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

· Work flexibly across the service to accommodate peak periods and adapt to changing demands in service delivery.

· Provide advice, support, one-to-one and group classes as needed that support the health and wellbeing of charity employees.

· Promote the culture and vision of the services, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing personal development.

· Be trained as a First Aider and where appropriate, a Mental Health First Aider and Fire Marshal.

· Undertake additional or other duties outside the key job duties within the team and across the charity, as the charity may reasonably require.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

Essential

· To have a CIMSPA endorsed Level 3 GP Referral Qualification.

· To have evidence of continued professional development relevant to the role purpose and level.

· To have experience of confidently and professionally delivering safe and effective exercise classes and individual exercise programmes to people living with cancer.

· To have experience of carrying out risk assessments, exercise testing and prescribing personalised exercise programmes.

· To have in-depth knowledge of the benefits of exercise rehabilitation for people living with long term conditions and experience of dealing with people living with long term conditions.

· To be able to travel across the Yorkshire region

· To be flexible to deliver weekend and evening classes as needed.

· To be familiar with the most recent evidence on the effects of different exercises on long term conditions.

· To have experience of working with behaviour change frameworks.

· To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills for delivering a service and working directly with service users.

· To have the ability to work with and assess service users living with or beyond cancer.

· To have knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relevant to the role.

· To have knowledge of UK GDPR.

About the role

In this rewarding role, you’ll work one-to-one with people experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges. Through face-to-face, phone, or online sessions, you’ll help patients explore their wellbeing needs, set meaningful goals, and develop practical emotional coping skills. Over the course of up to six sessions, you’ll empower individuals to build resilience and manage their own mental health and wellbeing more confidently.

You’ll also guide people towards the right next steps - whether that’s connecting them with community services, referring them to specialist support, or helping them find ongoing wellbeing opportunities.

As part of the Waterside PCN, you’ll be working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes GPs, mental health practitioners, and Solent Mind wellbeing assessors and peer support workers. Together, we provide compassionate, joined-up care for our local communities across Hythe, Marchwood and Blackfield.

As a Wellbeing Assessor, you will undertake assessments of patients to understand their individual needs and identify the most appropriate support for them, working collaboratively with other partners in the Primary Care Mental Health Service and associated organisations.

• Hours: 18.5 hours per week (over 3 days, must be a Tuesday)
• Location: Waterside PCN (Hythe, Marchwood, Blackfield)

You will have experience of working with vulnerable people who have diverse need. You will have experience of working in a mental health setting.

You will need good communication, IT and teamwork skills.

Purpose of the job

We are seeking a skilled engagement officer to deliver an innovative programme of community-led river engagement activities in and surrounding the River Roding as part of a project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, ‘The Roding Rises’. This role will engage with groups from the urban and rural reaches of the river Roding catchment to co-design activities that support the delivery of The Roding Rises activity plan and encourage participants along an engagement pathway from awareness to participation and independent action. This role offers the post holder the opportunity to make a difference in diverse areas of London, with varying challenges and a range of ambitions.

The key skill for this role is being able to connect with and bring people together. The project relies on creating strong networks of grassroots organisations, community leaders and representatives from the public and private sectors, including councillors and politicians.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. 3. Support community groups and partners with community-focused applications to the Roding grants scheme

4. In partnership with colleagues, conduct inclusive outreach activities that will engage a wide diversity of people with a range of backgrounds and life experiences, from both rural and urban areas in our core locations.

5. Build a catchment-wide community network, uploading details to Thames21’s CRM system in line with GDPR.

6. Collect and record qualitative and quantitative data on events and activities run, including written and verbal feedback from partners and participants, photos and numbers of attendees, keeping to GDPR requirements. Evaluate this information to develop the methods for engagement and inform future activities.

7. Carry out the administrative duties to run events, including conducting risk assessments and method statements, managing event registrations, liaising with local councils and community groups and maintaining and managing event equipment.  

1. Work with the Thames21 Training Officer to establish a group of volunteers who are trained in Thames21’s modules to maintain and monitor local sites. Includes supporting existing volunteers and assisting with building their capacity so groups become autonomous.
2. Represent Thames21 and The Roding Rises at relevant local forums and proactively recruit volunteers through in-person engagement events.
3. Maintain clear records of progress, ensure all administration and statistical information is kept up to date,
4. Work with Thames21’s Communications Team to promote the project, celebrate its achievements and learnings; ensure key milestones are recognised, funders are acknowledged, and volunteer opportunities are publicised.
5. Attend Thames21 Team Meetings and liaise with other Thames21 staff.

About the role

The resettlement team provides advice and support for refugees on resettlement and relocation schemes to help them access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. Working closely with local stakeholders and in partnership with other voluntary sector agencies running similar services across the UK, the Refugee Council resettlement team promotes both the integration and independence of this group.

The Refugee Council work in partnership with Migration Yorkshire and Local Authorities across Yorkshire and Humberside to deliver the regional Resettlement programmes including the UK Resettlement Scheme, Afghan resettlement programmes (ARAP and ACRS), VPRS and VCRS. The resettlement team provides advice and support for resettled refugees to help them access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join ATLEU, a leading anti-trafficking and human rights charity. We are looking for an inclusive, creative, talented facilitator, with exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to be our Participation Manager.

The Participation Manager will facilitate survivors of trafficking to use their experiences to support the development of ATLEU’s work and services and to improve policy and practice across the anti-trafficking and legal advice sectors. Working with group members, this individual will be responsible for supporting the expansion of the group  (The Changemakers) and the remit of ATLEU’s participation work from January 2026 when the current projects come to a close, ensuring new members are inducted and supported to engage and lead in future projects. The overall aim of the participation and activism work is to integrate survivors at all levels within ATLEU, as well as creating a project that offers different levels of engagement, depending on the interests and capacity of individual group members.

The Participation Manager is a key member of the Rise and Lead project team, which is a groundbreaking new employment pathways project in partnership with Southeast and East Asian Centre (SEEAC) and Voice of Domestic Workers for those with experience of human trafficking and migration. 

The successful candidate will have direct experience of working with vulnerable individuals, ideally survivors of trafficking, a strong understanding of the challenges survivors face and be committed to shifting power to people with lived experience. They will have a flexible approach and understand what empowerment means in its truest sense, allowing the structure of the work to be led by the needs of the group rather than with a predetermined or fixed idea of what this will look like.

Although just a small team, ATLEU’s work has led to significant changes in law and policy. Since we were established in 2013, we have led the way in ensuring that survivors of trafficking have access to free, independent legal advice by enabling access to legal aid, across the range of issues survivors experience. For example, our litigation against the Legal Aid Agency led to their concession that legal aid provision was insufficient for victims of trafficking and an increase in the number of trafficking compensation cases that legal aid providers were contractually able to assist with each year (from 5 up to 100). Following litigation on behalf of our client LL, the Legal Aid Agency agreed that victims of trafficking were legally entitled to free immigration advice on applying for leave to remain in the UK on the basis of their trafficking experiences and publicised this entitlement.

3. Recruit and induct people with lived experience of trafficking to be active participants in the Changemakers.

4. To facilitate meetings of the Changemakers ensuring activities are accessible and inclusive for all participants.

6. Conduct needs assessments to identify safeguarding, support needs and development goals and provide practical and emotional support where required.

7. Nurturing the wellbeing and solidarity of the group, providing individual pastoral support, coordinating reflective practice sessions and group activities.

Building the power of survivors within ATLEU 

10. To be an effective liaison between the group and the Director, trustees and wider staff team.

11. Understanding how ATLEU works as an organisation and its key activities and facilitating regular communication between Changemakers and ATLEU’s people. 

12. Create opportunities for collaboration, co-creation and leadership for ATLEU’s Changemakers members.

Identifying potential opportunities for Changemakers to take on paid roles within the organisation, defining the scope of the role, recruitment/ selection of individuals for the roles, and supporting individuals to gain experience of working independently (eg. peer research training development, training delivery).

15. Work with ATLEU’s Director, Head of Operations and People and Inclusion Manager to create pathways for people with lived experience of trafficking to participate in ATLEU’s governance and decision-making, including at trustee board level and development of funding proposals. 

16. Support the delivery of ATLEU’s Rise and Lead Fellowship project helping to create an employment pathway for people with lived experience of human trafficking and migration in the advice and anti-trafficking sector. 

17. Support the Rise and Lead Project Manager with the development of a bespoke inclusive recruitment programme and the delivery of the training fellowship, and the project monitoring and evaluation and dissemination of learning. 

Coproduction with the Changemakers

18. Working with ATLEU’s Changemakers to act as agents of change, to influence external stakeholders (e.g. anti-trafficking organisations, policy makers, parliamentarians, media) and share their expertise, whilst ensuring the necessary safeguarding is in place.

About the opportunity

As Accounts Assistant focusing on Treasury and Accounts Receivables, you'll play an important role in delivering a high-performing, efficient financial transactions operation with partnership and improvement at its core. This is both an operational and developmental role, offered with the possibility of pursuing a formal qualification such as a financial accounting apprenticeship or another appropriate finance or administration-related qualification.

You'll be part of our Finance & Assurance directorate, reporting to the Financial Transaction Team Officers and working alongside other assistants and trainees. Focusing specifically on Treasury and AR activities, you'll gain broad experience across cash management, income processing, and receivables. From recording and processing financial transactions to supporting month-end and year-end processes, you'll monitor daily communications and role-model brilliant partnership and customer service, support reconciliations and audits, and work in an agile way across multiple projects and workstreams.

This is a role where your success is built on strong collaboration across multiple teams. You'll have opportunities to undertake specific improvement projects, identify ways to enhance processes, and support colleagues across the organisation to operate within best practice when it comes to financial transactions.

About you:

You're someone with a willingness to learn and develop on the job, sharing your learnings with colleagues to foster whole-team development. You have a working interest in quality improvement and an enthusiasm for a career in finance with ideas to help us constantly improve. - Supporting the effective running and performance of the Financial Transactions team, with a specific focus on Treasury and Accounts Receivables activities.
- Undertaking specific projects to demonstrate or drive improvements across Treasury and AR processes.
- Monitoring and responding to daily communications from colleagues and role-modelling brilliant partnership and customer service.
- Recording, processing, and filing financial transactions in line with internal procedures, including completing reconciliations.
- Assisting in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing for and supporting audits.
- Identifying ways to improve processes and making recommendations to senior colleagues.
- Supporting colleagues across the organisation to operate within best practice for financial transactions.
- Role-modelling working in ways that always adhere to internal policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Liaising with suppliers and other third parties where appropriate.
- Supporting officers and managers with reconciliations, reports, and analysis related to cash management and receivables.

You will be a self-starter, with account management and sales experience, who will assist the team to develop, deliver and grow its earned income activities. You will carry out prospects research to support new business development, while building relationships through active client engagement. You will receive relevant training, guidance and coaching.
