As Major Donor Manager, you will manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth supporters, securing and stewarding five and six figure multi-year commitments. You will develop new donor relationships, expand existing ones, and deliver compelling cases for support across priority projects. The postholder will line manage the Major Donor Assistant, while working closely with colleagues across the organisation to create opportunities, inspire investment, and deliver against ambitious income targets.

To succeed, you will bring proven experience in major donor fundraising with a track record of securing significant donations from high value donors for a variety of projects. You will have excellent relationship management skills, confidence in making asks, and the ability to use data-driven insights to shape cultivation strategies. Strong communication, research, and writing skills are essential, alongside the ability to plan effectively and navigate complex organisations.

Salary: £37,596 to £43,021 (pay band 06)

About the role

This role will be responsible for providing business support for the directorate to support effective leadership and streamlined ways of working across Income Generation. 

The postholder will support the operation of the Income Generation Leadership Team (IGLT) and assist in various aspects of organisational administration and development. It will support IGLT to define and shape priorities and support implementation of priority initiatives.  It will ensure that IGLT’s time is prioritised effectively on delivering the most critical priorities and that follow-up activities are completed.

This role will need to foster and develop credible and respected relationships with all key stakeholders including in other directorates – to ensure visibility and engagement on high priority programmes.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Provide business support to IGLT including: 
• Support for IGLT and Income Generation directorate meetings and follow-up 
• Support for business planning, projects, reviews and evaluations    
• Ensuring that all key reports for Income Gen directorate are efficiently delivered – with a particular focus at the moment on KPIs and quarterly reports for Exec, Board and internal audiences 
• Implement and monitor operational programmes, ensuring learning from past programmes of work is integrated.  
• Co-ordinate cross-directorate teams to ensure successful programme execution with timely delivery of initiatives and management of key dependencies.  
• Continually ensure risks to programmes of work are identified, assessed and mitigated.   
• Make sure robust controls are embedded and reported through regular monitoring systems.  
• Facilitate communication between teams to ensure transparency and alignment on operational goals. 
• Take responsibility for liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and contacts at all levels, on behalf of IGLT.

The Breast Cancer Now helpline, health information and support services help 600,000 people living with or beyond the disease, as well as their loved ones every day.

Breast Cancer Now believe that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live - and be supported to live well. But to create that future, we need to act now.

The Senior Programme Manager will work across teams within Breast Cancer Now and externally, to plan and manage, as part of Breast Cancer Now's exciting transformational growth plans, the delivery and evaluation phases of a 3-year pilot, train the trainer programme, in defined targeted areas within England and Scotland. This role covers the final 2 years of the pilot.

The programme will help drive forward the public health, inclusion, and awareness team's work across the UK, which is to empower patients and the public to play a full role in managing their own risk of getting breast cancer, diagnosing breast cancer earlier and improving their quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, thereby reducing the risk of recurrence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and development of Breast Cancer Now's Train the Trainer programme, ensuring effective project management, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Manage a remote delivery team and external partners, including evaluation agencies and suppliers, providing strategic oversight and direction.
• Oversee public health and inclusion initiatives, building strong relationships with stakeholders, community groups, and health sector partners across the UK.
• Ensure high-quality programme delivery, maintaining documentation, monitoring impact, managing budgets and small grants, and driving process improvements.
• Represent the charity externally, including at conferences and meetings, championing equity and inclusion in all aspects of public health engagement.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing and delivering high-level projects and programmes, particularly in public health, behaviour change, and training delivery. You should have a strong background in developing both digital and face-to-face interventions for a range of audiences, including underrepresented groups and professionals across health, education, and community settings. Proven ability to manage people, budgets, and external partners is essential, alongside experience in independently delivering and evaluating projects. A solid understanding of health inequalities and the wider determinants of health are also essential.

You will need to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, as the role involves engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including within the NHS and community sectors. The successful candidate will be confident working both independently and as part of a dispersed UK-wide team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. You will have excellent knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, as well as UK healthcare systems and the challenges they face. Experience of working in the charity/voluntary sector and within a cancer care environment are highly desirable.

This role can be based in the London or Glasgow offices. The programme is being delivered in England (Westminster and Leicester) and Scotland (Glasow and Lanarkshire), based on mortality rates of breast cancer and you will need to travel to these areas. The hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving Bowel Research UK's fundraising strategies and audience engagement initiatives.

This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, growing the charity’s supporter base and income, building up new and under-developed income streams and communicating effectively with their audiences to expand their reach, and encourage financial and non-financial support to deliver the organisations mission.

The successful candidate for this role will be someone who has already operated at a senior level within a charity such as at Senior Manager level, or Head of in a specific income stream. Having a background or significant experience in delivery across individual giving is also vital due to the importance of that income stream to Bowel Research UK – the post holder will be the organisations expert in IG.

As Major Donor Manager you will lead the major donor team whilst managing three major donor officers. The Role
