Our media function at Hospice UK is critical to our mission to promote and protect hospice care for all.The Media and PR Manager leads our media strategy, helping to tell our story with ambition and impact – shaping conversations, building national influence and raising the profile of hospice care across the UK.
This post holder will have a sharp eye for a story, be a bold and instinctive media strategist and amplify the voices of people who need to be heard to change minds influence political decision makers and put Hospice UK at the forefront of the debate.
The Team
You will work within the Communications team that sits within the wider External Affairs Directorate. We are around 20 in total, including 4 colleagues based in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Communications team includes colleagues working across content, social and digital, as well as partnership marketing and member communications.
You will work closely with a smaller team of 3 colleagues, our Senior Social Media Officer, Content and Brand Manager and your line manager – our Senior Communications and Communications Manager. Together you will be involved in the big issues in hospice care, making sure Hospice UK is vocal, visible and leading the debate.
There is a strong collaborative and supportive culture across the External Affairs Department with lots of opportunity to exchange ideas, plan together and benefit from each other’s skills and expertise.
Working closely with our 200+ hospice members, we have a strong track record of securing strong media coverage and winning campaigns on their behalf, most notably over the two years by securing increased investment in hospices by governments in Westminster, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
But our work is not done. Hospices are under significant pressure and need both better government investment and continued public support. Our focus now is ensuring that hospices can meet ever increasing demand for their services, with well-funded and well-staffed hospices across the UK.

MAIN BENEFITS, TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Job Description
Main duties and responsibilities
Manage the DUK project portfolio
- Become a subject matter expert in applied and translational research in DMD, allowing informed decision making and effective communication with key stakeholders
- Support identification of new project and collaborative opportunities, including the ongoing management and delivery of our applicant-led funding call
- Support the Director of Research and Development in project scientific review, working with the Scientific Advisory Board, Patient Advisory Board, Senior Leadership Team and DUK Board of Trustees
- Manage project development and initiation, including contracting, the development of detailed project plans, including go/no-go milestones, and budgets
- Manage and oversee project delivery, including monitoring of progress, according to agreed timelines and deliverables (including written updates and formal reports), and managing project finances, including reviewing and approval of invoices and monitoring project expenditure
- Support research budget forecasting in liaison with the finance team and the Director of Research and Development, and ensure compliance across the project portfolio
- Build and manage relationships with external partners and maintain regular communication through the project life cycle

Research governance and processes

Support delivery of DUK flagship strategic programmes

- Coordinate key programme updates and discussions between the DUK team and the programme teams
- Working with DUK comms team, support the development of external comms and marketing

Other key responsibilities
- Provide general research admin support (e.g. arrange research meetings, both internal and external, prepare agendas and take minutes)
- Work with DUK comms team to identify case studies and success stories and support the development of the research comms strategy

We're looking for a talented Strategy Manager to help deliver our ambitious 2025–2030 strategy.
Working within our Transformation team, you'll lead high-impact projects, provide insight that drives decision-making, and partner with senior leaders to solve complex challenges. From developing business cases and strategic recommendations to analysing data and driving organisational improvement, you'll play a key role in shaping the future direction of the Trust.
This is a varied role that combines strategy, project delivery and data-led decision-making. You'll lead projects from concept to implementation, turning complex information into clear recommendations and ensuring initiatives deliver meaningful outcomes.
You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation, providing challenge, insight and support while helping to improve processes, drive performance and deliver our strategic priorities.
This role is a full time, all year-round role, mainly home-based working with travel to our head office in Birmingham and our academies as required. About you
You're a commercially minded problem-solver with strong analytical skills and a track record of delivering projects in complex environments.
You'll be confident working with data, influencing senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities. You have excellent communication skills, strong Excel and PowerPoint capability, and the ability to translate analysis into practical action.
Experience in strategy, consulting, transformation or organisational improvement would be advantageous, as would experience within education.

About the role
Missing People’s award-winning Marketing & Communications Team is known for punching above its weight. You will play a key role in leading our digital marketing communications activity, helping to develop integrated marketing strategies that align with the organisation’s strategic goals, grow brand awareness, drive people down the marketing funnel and create engaging audience-led content across all channels, that ensure strong growth and retention of our service users and supporters.
You will have a huge impact on missing people and their loved ones, creating awareness of our multiple services for children, young people, adults and their families. Your strategy will bring a growing number of people to engage with the cause and develop our websites as a ‘one stop shop’ for information, support and giving. We have a wide range of audiences for our digital marketing including missing people, the police, professionals, supporters and families.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with outstanding external agencies on innovative campaigns, normally only available to the biggest brands, giving you exposure to high quality and exciting creative thinking to help you develop your expertise.
You will use your experience running digital campaigns, managing websites, creating engaging content and delivering analytical reports, to support teams across the charity with their communications and marketing needs.
About you
You will need:
- Significant experience of managing and leading digital growth, such as retention and acquisition, working across a range of digital disciplines e.g. web, mobile, social media, email campaigns, SEO, Paid Ads;
- Significant experience of management of websites, SEO and content programmes;
- Experience of developing marketing strategies, plans and budget setting and maangement;
- Experience of confidently and collaboratively managing a range of internal colleagues and external contacts and stakeholders;
- Experience of line management.
- Developing effective customer journeys and optimisation of key marketing channels to increase conversion and improve customer experience
- Managing social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and developing engaging content;
- Ability to develop and drive forward new projects and initiatives, taking the lead and/or working collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders;
- Exceptional ability to create and tailor content to different audiences and platforms with an understanding of optimising content;
- Excellent analytical skills to allow test and learn approach and ability to interpret and apply analytics and audience insight;
- Legal right to work in the UK.

As Operations Manager you will oversee the parish’s resources: people, buildings, IT, and finances, developing systems and structures that are effective, flexible, and culturally responsive.
PURPOSE:
● To work collaboratively with the Vicar, Wardens, PCC (church council), staff and congregation, supporting St Barnabas with Christ’s Chapel as we live out our vision and implement our Mission Action Plan (MAP).
● To help nurture a staff and volunteer culture rooted in mutual respect, honest communication and shared responsibility, supporting healthy rhythms of work and life.
● To be responsible for the management of the parish’s resources of people, buildings, IT, and finances. Developing effective, efficient, and flexible administrative processes, and robust and appropriate structures for leadership, management, and governance (including statutory compliance).
As a leadership role within a Church of England parish, there is an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a Christian and enthusiastic about the vision and values of St Barnabas with Christ’s Chapel.
