We're looking for 2-3 detail-oriented and strategic Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist Volunteers to help optimise our online presence and ensure our campaigns and content reach the communities that need them most and increase the charity’s search engine results rankings. We’re at an exciting stage of growth, with a new team, a new strategy in development, and bold plans for the future.
As Treasurer, you will provide strategic financial oversight to a respected national charity with an annual income of £1.5 million. You will also support our flagship campaign, 25in25, which aims to reduce deaths from heart failure by 25% over the next 25 years.
We are seeking an experienced, qualified finance professional (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) with strong financial leadership credentials. Excellent communication and board-level decision-making skills are essential. Experience in charity finance is desirable but not required.
BSH is a registered charity and professional membership organisation governed by a Board of Trustees, mostly elected from our 1,300 members - heart failure clinicians including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. The Treasurer is a co-opted trustee, appointed for their financial expertise.
Our team is small and mostly remote, with access to offices next to Hyde Park in London. The Board consists of 9 volunteers and is supported by over 50 active committee members working across education, research, and regulatory affairs.

Trustee Duties
All Trustees are expected to:

- Seek professional advice when necessary.
Additional Treasurer Responsibilities
- Monitor financial health and ensure timely, accurate reporting.

- Support annual budgeting and ensure alignment with objectives.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Maintain and review the reserves policy.
- Liaise with the Finance Director and CEO to present reports to the Board.

We’re looking for a friendly and empathetic Pathway Volunteer. As the first point of contact for individuals accessing our Community Wellbeing Service, you’ll play a vital role in welcoming guests, conducting initial triage appointments to understand their goals and needs, and signposting them to the most appropriate support services.
The role will require you to:
- Greet guests who are visiting the Community Wellbeing service for the first time
- Conduct a ‘pathway’ triage appointment, establishing the members’ goals and note down areas of concern and current issues
- Signpost to local services and partners that come into the space
- If needed, book an appointment for the member with an advisor
- Update Sufra’s case management system, keeping detailed notes of appointments
Skills required
Professional
- No formal qualifications are necessary, however understanding and having knowledge of the landscape of Brent, the welfare benefit system and other voluntary and statutory services will be beneficial.
- You need to be a confident communicator, able to give a warm welcome to all and keep to timely appointment slots.
- Digital literacy is essential.
- You must be confident with IT platforms such as Microsoft Office and preferably have used case management systems before.
Personal - We need volunteers who:
- Are friendly
- Are non-judgemental
- Can actively listen
- Are passionate about supporting local families to access the support they need
- Are empathic
- Preferably be able to speak another language: Arabic, Persian, Spanish
- Are confident communicating to people without a shared first language
- Have IT skills (ability to use Microsoft Office applications, or willing and able to learn)
- Have a good understanding of confidentiality

They are seeking a qualified accountant to join the Board as Treasurer. The ideal candidate will have senior financial management experience, a clear and confident communication style, and a strong interest in ethical trade and workers' rights. Prior experience in the not-for-profit or international development sectors would be an advantage.
The Treasurer oversees the organisation’s financial health and sustainability, reviews and presents budgets and accounts, advises on financial strategy, reserves, and investment policies, and ensures robust financial controls. The role also involves chairing the Finance & Remuneration Sub-Committee and advising the Board on its financial responsibilities and risks.
Board and Committee meetings are held quarterly, in-person in London - although occasional remote attendance is possible.
