About the role:

The Head of Public Fundraising (Interim) will work across the organisation, including with colleagues in our Innovation Team and wider Fundraising, Communications, Advocacy and Fundraising teams based in Belfast and London, a total of 13 team members. You will lead a passionate and committed team across Concern UK’s portfolio of individual giving, legacy giving and community & challenges and events.

There are big opportunities to grow our legacy giving, as well as opportunities to diversify income from our community and events programme. In addition, there’s brilliant work taking place building out our customer journeys and stewardship with a new CRM which was on-boarded in 2023 which will propel audience led journeys and stewardship.

You will come with an appetite for developing and embedding our new strategy which is due to go live in October 2025. This is the perfect opportunity for someone already operating at Head of level, looking for an opportunity in International Development, or someone looking for the next step in their career to a Head of Public Fundraising.

In this role, you will lead the implementation of [Concern Worldwide UK’s fundraising and supporter engagement strategy across all mass market UK audiences, including the planning and delivery of Concern’s donor recruitment, donor engagement, community and events activities and legacy giving programmes, to deliver high quality donor experience and sustained income growth. About You:

Essential Experience

• Broad experience of a range of donor recruitment techniques, including face-to-face, direct mail and digital fundraising techniques and strategies.
• Strong experience and understanding of donor engagement strategies and techniques.
• Significant experience of community and public events fundraising.
• Proven track record of growing fundraising income.
• Experience in line managing multiple direct reports and leading a team.
• Experience in developing strategy, operational plans and complex budgets.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities

· Lead, direct and manage the finance and operations functions, overseeing two direct reports, ensuring they deliver a high-quality service to all internal and external stakeholders and are seen as adding value, in enabling Career Ready to achieve its vision and strategic objectives through its people. 

· Continue the delivery of a project plan reflecting the 2025-30 strategy, ensuring that activities happen at pace, are deadline-driven and achieve a high level of impact.

· Assume overall responsibility for the financial management of Career Ready, working with the SMT to ensure high quality and effective use of charitable funds.

· Input into and review the financial elements of funding applications and ensure that fund accounting processes align with funders’ requirements for project reporting.

· Produce financial reports for various stakeholders, as well as leading on financial modelling.

· Have oversight of all financial and accountancy matters including month end reports, management accounts, cash flow management, compliance, tax liability, presentation of management information and KPIs. Key Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to Finance Board and senior committees, offering clear, data-driven insights.

• Ensure robust management of the balance sheet, assets, cash, and investments.

About You

• We’re looking for a qualified accountant (minimum 5 years PQE) with:

• Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a complex or group structure.

• Strong leadership capability with a track record of developing and managing effective teams.

• Commercial acumen and the ability to see the big picture while maintaining operational oversight.

• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex data for diverse audiences.

Financial Controller

About you

As Financial Controller you will oversee our finance function ensuring that our management reporting, payroll, VAT, forecasting, sales and purchase ledger processes run as efficiently as possible and safeguard the assets of the charity.

We run payroll for around 400 staff and one large part of the role will be improving the processes around this, with support from the Finance Director and Head of HR.

You will line manage and support the development of two Finance Officers. You will report to the Director of Finance & ICT.

This is a new role and is a great opportunity to make your mark in a fascinating and challenging organisation.

Key Responsibilities
As General Counsel and Company Secretary you will be a key advisor to The Salvation Army and an active attendee at the Board of Trustees and all key Executive boards/committees, making an important and lasting contribution to the broader strategic direction of the organisation. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

• Extensive experience as a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales, preferably in an in-house legal team within a large and complex organisation and with relevant subject matter expertise.
• Senior leadership experience with the ability to advise Trustees, Board members, senior managers and employees on a range of complicated legal, strategic and business areas.
• A comprehensive understanding of the role of Company Secretary within a large and complex organisation and knowledge of relevant governance areas
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex information to stakeholders and so influence decision making, behaviours and culture.
• Proven ability to develop successful strategic plans with a 3–5-year time horizon.
• Strong financial management skills, with experience of setting and managing function/unit budgets.

The role:

Exposure to youth mental health or a related field will be useful but not essential for the role.

This person will have exceptional levels of emotional maturity, discretion and diplomacy and will be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing. An outstanding administrator with proven IT skills including MS Office, video conferencing and databases, this person will also have a keen eye for detail, the ability to multi-task and to plan ahead and to prioritise effectively. Whilst being able to process quite complex information easily, this person will be able to communicate simply and positively and will have a “can do” approach to their work. Experience of guiding and advising grant applicants will be important in addition to being responsive to others’ needs whilst being flexible and adaptable in a constantly evolving environment.
