Charityworks is a 12-month, talent programme where you will deliver a full time paid job in a partner charity or housing association and have the opportunity to make real social impact.
Alongside your placement, you will also take part in an acclaimed development programme recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management; this has been designed to accelerate your career development and provide you with the skills needed to launch your career in the social sector.
Throughout the process you’ll be supported and challenged by our programme team, an external mentor from the sector and a peer coach to help you make the most of the year. You’ll come together regularly with your fellow trainees and professionals across the sector to explore key issues affecting your work and society as a whole. Individually, you’ll explore the sector and deepen your understanding of your environment even further by producing your own enquiry and research project.
At the end of the 12-month programme you’ll have the experience and skills to kick-start your professional career in the UK social sector and beyond!

Employer: One of our Charityworks partner organisations. These organisations are subject to change each year but often include a range of non-profit partners from NSPCC, Guide Dogs, Barnardo’s, Christian Aid, Network Homes, Accent Housing and many more.

Location: Placements will take place in leading non-profit organisations across a number of locations across the UK. There will be a range of working patterns available including partly remote or blended working possibilities.

Hours: Usually 9am - 5pm with some flexibility according to the requirements of the placement and your host organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Extensive experience working with staff and national partner organizations in long-term development and crisis recovery.
- Deep technical expertise in livelihoods and/or environmental programming, including savings groups, green job creation, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and integration with church-community mobilization.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
- A commitment to lifelong learning and a passion for empowering people to escape poverty.
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken) and proficiency in a second language, such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, or Swahili, is a significant advantage.

- Location: Africa Region. The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in an African country where Tearfund is registered and can legally employ staff. Regular travel is required.
- Contract: This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract.

What you’ll do
You will play a key administrative and coordination role within the Postgraduate Education Support Services team, ensuring the smooth delivery of postgraduate programmes through support in admissions, events, student services, and operational functions. This fixed-term opportunity will have a particular focus on supporting student admissions, including application handling, interview coordination, and assisting in recruitment events and marketing activities.
What you’ll bring
Essential skills and experience:
- Programme/course administration within a higher or further education setting.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diplomatically and confidentially with staff and students.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage large volumes of information with accuracy.
- Capacity to work autonomously and proactively, while also collaborating effectively with a team and following guidance from senior staff.
- Able to prioritise and manage workloads under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Confident IT user, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms), with a readiness to learn platforms like Moodle and SITS.
Key details
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week): usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00. Flexible working is possible.
Salary: £26,499 FTE per annum, plus 6% contributory pension scheme.
Location: Hybrid working (a mixture of onsite and home/remote working). Staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH).
Contract type: Fixed-term, 6 months.

You’ll have an active role providing LGBTQ+ affirmative support for LGBTQ+ children and young people.
This is an exciting job opportunity to join a dynamic and committed team in a front-line role to support and deliver the activities and services of elop’s LGBTQ+ Children & Young People’s Service.This role offers great opportunity to work innovatively and responsively to support the genuine needs of LGBTQ+ young people.
In this role you will have opportunity to design and deliver innovative youth group support programmes (12- 24 year olds) & other activities; provide LGBTQ+ affirmative support, guidance and mentoring on a one-to-one basis; work with our wider family work programme, support families with LGBTQ+ children and deliver work in schools to students & teaching staff. You will have the responsibity to support volunteer mentors.
You will be responsible for the direct delivery of elop’s LGBTQ+ Young Peoples Service, including promotion, & administration, along with the induction, support & supervision of volunteers and interns. You will work alongside the wider staff team to support elop’s work with LGBTQ+ young people and contribute to sustainable service development.
The delivery of group support and activities will take place in person, and you will be office based three days a week with some remote working on other days before returning to full time in person working.
Full Time: 37 hours per week
You must be available to work Tuesday evenings & once a month on a Sunday afternoon. There will be occasional other evenings / weekend working required.
