Role overview

Key responsibilities

The main duties to be carried out by the post-holder include:

Alumni Relations

• Manage the Development team inbox and act as the main point of contact for Pembroke’s alumni and other supporters by email, phone, and in person.
• Deal with external communications to the office and forward queries to the appropriate colleague where required.
• Produce briefing notes for the Master, Fellows, and other key staff and volunteers prior to events for alumni relations, stewardship, and fundraising purposes.
• Ensure that the alumni pages of the College website are kept up-to-date and contribute to the generation of online content for social media.
• Process credit card payments for events and ensure accurate records are kept and card details handled securely.
• Provide administrative support to the Pembroke College Ambassador programme.

Operations and Office Management

• Work with the Database and Insights Officer on projects to clean and improve data held on the university-wide DARS database.
• Process updates to contact and other details submitted by alumni.
• Deal with payment and pledge-related queries from donors and potential donors.
• Ensure that the database is maintained with accurate and up-to-date details on Pembroke alumni and other constituents.
• Provide logistical support for overseas trips and other visits undertaken by Development staff.
• Take minutes for meetings of the Campaign Board, Development Committee, Alumni Advisory Board, and other groups.

Internal collaboration

• Work collaboratively with the wider team and colleagues across Pembroke, supporting work outside your functional area where necessary.
• Support fundraising colleagues with regular giving activities including telethons and mailings.
• Provide general support and assistance to the team, particularly for event administration and donor stewardship.
• Attend events as required and assist the Senior Alumni Relations Officer to ensure they are successfully delivered.
• Co-ordinate stationery and office supplies including fundraising and alumni relations materials.
• Collect and deliver post to the Porters’ Lodge.
• To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Development Director, which may include travel and event attendance outside standard working hours.

About the Role

The two Communications Officers will work closely and collaboratively to help deliver the diocesan strategy and tell the story of the diverse church communities in the Diocese.

As Philanthropy Manager you will be responsible for growing income from major donors and Trusts and Foundations through excellent donor stewardship. Leading a team of committed Trust fundraisers, you will focus on identifying prospective individual donors and foundations and develop lasting relationships with them. Main Responsibilities

Leadership

• To lead and inspire the Philanthropy team fostering a collaborative and high culture that delivers against income and objectives.

Philanthropy Fundraising

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-value donors, ensuring effective solicitation, stewardship, and follow-up to secure significant contributions (six-figure gifts).
• Build and maintain a portfolio of Trust & Grants supporters. Responsible for researching, approaching and developing compelling applications with a focus on ensuring Trusts & Grants provide a long-term, diverse and sustainable income stream.

• Write and design a compelling case for support that is tailored to our High Value audiences.

•  You will work alongside the Director of Income Generation to support the development and implementation of a new Philanthropy strategy covering development of a prospect pipeline, building a culture of peer referrals, annual targets and personalised engagement plans.
• Lead on developing and delivering effective stewardship journeys and cultivation plans.
• Produce regular reports on fundraising activity, analysing performance against targets, and identifying areas for improvement and growth.
• Work with the Director of Income Generation to develop the annual budget, including leading on monthly performance reports and contributing to quarterly reforecasts and reporting against KPI’s and milestones.

About the role

The media manager is a linchpin role in the media team. You will have responsibility for planning and delivering major proactive media moments, including our Winter Appeal and our flagship corporate partnership activity, while contributing to the running, management and ongoing development of a busy press office and team. You will also be required to deputise for the Head of Media as necessary and support on reputational and crisis communications. 

Role specifics

Creative, results driven, and politically savvy, you are comfortable with leading change and initiating action even under difficult circumstances. You are an excellent writer and totally at home with translating complex research and policy into pithy soundbites and key messages – a skill you’ll be eager to share with your colleagues who want to learn from a pro.

You don’t just sit back and contemplate. You spot risks and opportunities, and challenge when you need to. Crucially, you already have senior level experience of public relations/press management, ideally gained at a charity/think tank/political party/PR agency. As a result, you understand the inner workings of the media, what makes a story and how to influence the ever-changing news agenda.

You have extensive knowledge of different media channels and tactics, and your communication and relationship building skills are second to none. You’re confident influencing and negotiating at all levels – including with external partners, including handling crisis communications with diligence and sensitivity.

When it comes to empowering your line recruits and colleagues to deliver to the highest standard, your approachability and expertise all come to the fore. Finally, while prior knowledge of housing and homelessness isn’t a must have, you’ll need a passion for social justice. We are seeking a dynamic and skilled PR & Media Officer to join our team. This role requires a creative thinker with excellent communication skills who can manage media relations and promote our initiatives through various channels.

Responsibilities

Press

• Field enquiries from stakeholders including journalists and police forces
• Write press releases and media statements and share these when appropriate via digital & social
• Support the team with the rewards process and promotion
• Draft assets for press
• Be part of the on-call rota system currently 1 week in 7 (training and support provided)
• Effectively manage Vuelio to manage the daily tagging, produce media reports demonstrating PR coverage for all campaigns in a timely way.

Digital

• Develop and update content for website news pages and social media platforms
• Spot trends and advise the team regarding innovative new ideas for PR & Media to share with the team

PR and Publications

• Produce, edit and distribute updates and materials for external and internal audiences, dealing sensitively with those whose personal experiences might be featured
• Provide communications support for regional managers along with other internal staff and teams in addition to police and business development campaigns
• Manage external freelancers and agencies as needed to agreed deadlines and budgets
• To lead on editing, co-ordinating and organising the editorial, design and production of corporate publications
• Ensure all publications are in line with brand and changing needs of the charity and to be delivered in a timely via post and digitally.

Brand

• Ensure Crimestoppers consistent branding is used along with the style and tone of voice
• Manage on a weekly basis the brand inbox queries
• Extend the network of journalists both regionally and nationally
• Plan/create multi-media communications material

Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience working in media relations and PR or related fields (Essential)
• Client, journalist and/or supplier management (Essential)
• Experience of PR & Communications software (e.g. Vuelio) (Essential)
• Digital & Social Media experience (Essential)
• Excellent written communication skills online and offline (Essential)
• Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills (Essential)

We’re looking for a Marketing Manager (Fixed Term) to join our team

Salary: Circa £40,000

Base: Central Edinburgh/hybrid

Hours: Full time and fixed term for 12 months.  35 hours a week over core working hours of 10am – 3pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. The office is open 8am – 7pm daily and our hybrid working policy requires all full-time employees to work at least two days a week in the Edinburgh office.

About the role and what we’re looking for

What will you be doing?

· Championing the needs of supporters, who are known as Curestarters. You’ll take time to understand their needs and commission new market research to unlock new insights.  

· Leading campaigns to drive Brand awareness and grow income. You’ll manage a calendar of marketing activity to engage and inspire Curestarters.

· Overseeing our media mix. You’ll lead on media planning for the charity and spend time keeping your advertising knowledge up to date.  

· Learning and testing. You’ll lead on reporting for your campaigns and collaborate with colleagues or agency partners to ensure we have the insight to develop new tests to help us improve.

· Managing our partners. You’ll be the lead manager with our advertising partner, with the opportunity to work with our creative, market research, and digital development partners.

What are we looking for?

· As a customer-centric marketer, you’re comfortable using segmentation, market research, and campaign insights to inform your decision-making.

· You’re a collaborative person who works respectfully in a diverse team of experts to deliver work that makes an impact.
