JOB DESCRIPTION

Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. You will also work within the team to research and identify new fundraising opportunities from trusts, foundations and companies and convert these into long term business relationships.

This position provides a full-time, permanent contract with hybrid working hours, consisting of a 35-hour week. The role allows for hybrid work, including remote work from home, with one day per month at our head office in London.

Principle Responsibilities:
​

• To work closely with the Head of Development to research and identify new opportunities.
• Develop, prepare, and submit high quality funding applications, acting as bid writing SME.
• Peer Review support to mentor other team members.
• Work with Head of Development to increase the accuracy of our Salesforce data, resulting in data dashboards suitable to the reporting needs of our funders.
• Collaborate with Development and Senior F&R Officer to implement a team strategy and support a lean process of reporting.
• Work with Senior Finance & Reporting Officer to report impact to our funders in line in the funding requirements.
• To work closely with Head of Development to develop and implement our fundraising strategy.
• Represent the organisation at research based events, developing our understanding and enhancing our delivery.
• Identify new opportunities and working with the team to covert these to applications and funding.
• Lead on individual Giving Strategy, working with Head of Development and Development Officer to expand opportunities.

About the Role

WISH2 is one of three components of the FCDO-funded WISH Dividend programme, which follows on from the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) programme (August 2018 - March 2024). It will be implemented alongside two other components, which will focus on 1. Policy and Systems, i.e. a demand-led, flexible technical assistance programme on SRHR and Demographic Transition and 2. Evidence and Learning, i.e. a Third Party Monitoring and verification, evaluation and learning support. As for WISH 2, it will aim to support targeted countries on comprehensive SRHR including support for service delivery and technical assistance, and will be implemented through two consortium structures, called Lots. MSI-led Lot 1 will focus on West and Central Africa (namely in DRC, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Chad and Mauritania) and IPPF-led Lot 2 on East and Southern Africa. Lot 1 consortium partners will be MSI, Ipas, Options, Sightsavers, RAES and WILDAF-AO. The programme should start in May/ June 2024 and last 60 months.

As a core member of MSI’s WISH2 Lot 1 Management Team, the Project & Communications Officer (PCO) will contribute to the fulfilment of the MSI-led consortium’s mission under the programme, taking responsibility for providing administrative support and ensuring good communication about the project with external and internal stakeholders, to ensure the smooth implementation of the project -

• Contract management, including compliance, and due diligence;
• Administrative support to the management team, coordination of all WISH 2 Lot 1 Management Team meetings and consortium meetings to ensure strong collaboration, communication and learning through meetings, workshops, country visits, etc;
• Technical support with creation and maintenance of shared systems, and ways of working to ensure best practice and the achievements of the project are documented; and communications, reporting and compliance requirements are adhered to;

About the role

The Events Officer plays a key role in our highly effective communications team, leading on the delivery of an impactful programme of events – both online and in person. The role works with teams from across the organisation to plan, deliver and promote all types of events, including workshops, roundtables, conferences, webinars, receptions and other types of online and in person events.

Events are an important way for Ageing Better to influence priority audiences, including businesses and local and national government, and the postholder will advise teams on how events can best reach these audiences, encourage engagement and lead to lasting relationships.

This role sits within the Communications team, and the postholder will be responsible for drafting comms content, such as blogs and social media posts, particularly in relation to event promotion.

· Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with the Trussell Trust’s key messages and priorities.

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. 

In recent years violent crime has risen significantly. Homicides, assaults, robberies and offences involving weapons have all seen sustained growth. We have also seen large increases in violent crime involving children and young people. This is a tragedy. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. 

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding what works and working for change – scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference.

This role and why it’s important 

It's critical to our mission that we understand how and why young people become involved in violence. The YEF’s work combines conducting rigorous evaluations and research studies with hearing directly from young people. It is also important to us that young people are central to the messages we share externally.

Your role involves ensuring that young people’s perspectives are heard and integrated into our work. This includes supporting our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and helping young people’s voices play a central part in YEFs external communications.

This role also supports the wider team managing grants, contracts and providing general team support.

Click to learn more about the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). Many have lived experience of violence and advise us across all areas of our work to ensure that young people’s perspectives are taken on board as we pursue our mission. YAB members contribute to the governance of the organisation. 

Key responsibilities: 

1. Youth Advisory Board support: 

• Plan engaging activities for YAB meetings and events. These activities require working some evenings and occasional weekends. 

• Provide support and pastoral care to YAB members, including personal development planning and safeguarding.

• Help recruit YAB members (young people aged 16 –25) through interviews and managing recruitment. 

• Develop and schedule the YAB induction programme for new members. 

• Monitor attendance and engagement of YAB members. 

• Coordinate YAB attendance at external events. 

2. Facilitating Youth Voice in communications: 

• Act as a bridge between the YAB and our external communications team. 

• Work with the communications team to amplify young people's voices on social media. 

• Assist young people in sharing their views and stories through various communication methods. 

3. Managing grants and contracts: 

• Maintain records of payments and tasks using Salesforce. 

• Assist stakeholders and team members in using Salesforce effectively. 

• Support in procurement processes and grant management by organising documents and scheduling meetings. 

• Proactively identify and address issues. 

4. Collaboration and support: 

• Work closely with other roles (including our Operations and Culture team) within YEF to ensure coordinated efforts and sharing of best practices.

• You believe in young people: You have worked with young people and know the huge potential young people have to bring change. You have experience and knowledge of adhering to safeguarding processes, and are able to be flexible to suit young people’s needs - understanding when plans need to change at short notice.

• You’re passionate about helping young people to be heard: You have some experience in using media/social media to tell young people’s stories and are keen to learn more.

• You’re able to juggle many diverse tasks at once: You enjoy moving between different types of projects, whether that be leading YAB sessions, supporting the development of young people one-to-one or creating exciting content with young people. You prefer a job that looks different every day. You don’t get overwhelmed by a long to-do list and can effectively identify what’s most important and how to balance different priorities. 

• You’re brilliant at improving and organising things: You like finding ways to make things operate better for everyone. You enjoy bringing order to what is going on. You’re good at getting your head around how a process works and improving it. It’s a plus if you’ve used the Salesforce system before, but not a requirement. 

• You love supporting great teams: You’ll be happy to support beyond your immediate team, using your organising skills to support the wider organisation. You don’t know all the answers, but you enjoy helping colleagues find answers and solve problems so that the team can work brilliantly and efficiently.

Youth Engagement Officer
Location: Hybrid from our office in Stroud, Gloucestershire or remote based

We are looking for a Youth Engagement Officer to become an integral part of the Meningitis Now Communications and Fundraising team.

Young people are a key audience for Meningitis Now – and one where cases of meningitis are increasing. This role will be key in engaging with and raising awareness amongst young people across the UK. You will be responsible for developing content for our new TikTok channel, as well as moderating and finding ways to grow our audience. You will also play a key role in engaging young audiences with fundraising for Meningitis Now, helping to create new campaigns and explore new products to help us develop relationships with this important audience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To create content for TikTok and other social channels, working to our social media strategy.
• Report on social media performance and use this to inform future content.
• Create and manage paid advertising campaigns on TikTok.
• Community management of our TikTok channel, signposting to further information or support where necessary.
• Engage with our Believe & Achieve team and Volunteering team to collaborate with young people to create social content.
• Engage and build relationships with potential influencers/ambassadors who can help amplify our voice and messages.
• Keep up to date with industry trends and identify opportunities for Meningitis Now to engage with trends.
• Work closely with digital colleagues managing Meningitis Now’s other social platforms, to plan relevant content and ensure a joined-up approach.
• Identify and develop youth audience fundraising opportunities.
• Work with our Fundraisers to develop new products that appeal to young people.
• Increase Meningitis Now’s profile and support the delivery of the charity’s strategic aims.
