We're looking for a Fostering Coordinator to play a vital role in helping dogs thrive outside the kennel environment, by recruiting and supporting volunteer foster carers.

What does this role do?

As Fostering Coordinator, you will:  

• identify and place suitable dogs into foster care, including temporary placements for long-stay dogs needing respite from kennels, and carry out necessary intake assessments,
• recruit, assess, and induct new foster carers, promoting the scheme through events, conversations, and collaboration with colleagues across Dogs Trust,
• support foster carers with regular check-ins, arrange veterinary appointments, and provide access to behaviour or training support when needed,
• deliver training to foster carers, either one-to-one or through organised group sessions,
• promote dogs in foster or Home Stay settings by preparing profiles, contacting potential adopters, organising matching meetings, and completing all adoption paperwork.

To be successful in this role, you'll understand the importance of fostering, and the positive impact it can have on a dogs journey to their forever home. With experience of working with volunteers, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and ability to support fosterers as they provide temporary care to our dogs. You'll need some dog handling experience, as well as excellent customer service skills.

As Fundraising Assistant, you will support all aspects of fundraising and donor engagement. As your confidence develops, you will have the opportunity to contribute to funding applications and manage smaller grant requests independently.

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, supporting donor visits, fundraising events and school engagement opportunities, while helping to ensure our supporters receive an outstanding experience at every stage of their journey with the Trust.

Tasks and Responsibilities

· Maintain and update the fundraising database, ensuring supporter records are accurate, complete and up to date.

· Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters, emails and receipts in line with donor stewardship standards.

· Manage Gift Aid administration, including data checks, record maintenance and submission processes.

· Provide administrative support to Fundraising Officers, including diary management, meeting scheduling and preparation of briefing materials.

· Support the planning and delivery of fundraising events, donor visits and receptions.

· Coordinate donor and community representative visits to schools in collaboration with the Education Team.

· Assist with the preparation of fundraising reports, presentations and internal documentation.

· Support general department administration to ensure the smooth running of the fundraising function.

· Conduct basic prospect research to identify potential funding opportunities.

· Prepare supporting documents, budgets and attachments for grant applications.

· Maintain accurate records of application deadlines, reporting requirements, funding decisions and income forecasts.

· Assist with drafting sections of funding applications and reports.

· Support the management of smaller grant applications and reports, with the opportunity to lead applications of up to approximately £5,000 as experience develops.

· Monitor grant reporting deadlines and ensure officers are supported to meet all requirements.

· Prepare thank-you letters, impact updates and other donor communications.

· Support the administration and delivery of the organisation’s Patrons Programme.

· Assist with donor stewardship activities and ensure timely follow-up actions are completed.

· Support the tracking and management of donor journeys in collaboration with the Communications team.

· Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and stewardship activity on the fundraising database.

· Help ensure donors receive a positive and consistent experience across all engagement touchpoints.

The role:

This role covers the current post-holder's maternity leave for an anticipated 15 months. As Financial Controller you will lead CSE's finance team, directing and overseeing the finance function in compliance with appropriate accounting standards and practices, company and charity law.

You will provide timely, accurate financial and management information to support strategic decision-making and effective budgetary control by our Senior Leadership Team, Trustees, project managers and other budget holders. You will line manage the Finance Manager and Finance Assistant and be a member of CSE's Senior Management Team.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, you will work alongside the wider Operations Team to provide operational support that underpins delivery of our charitable mission. This is a fast-paced role and we need someone who can get up to speed with minimal delay.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Take responsibility for day-to-day accounting, invoicing, payroll, VAT returns, payments and banking, credit control and cash management, including timely monthly management accounts.
• Line manage the Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.
• Co-ordinate the annual budget cycle and mid-year budget refresh alongside the Director of Finance & Operations and SLT.

Job Title: Finance Administrator

Location: Homeworking with a requirement to occasionally work at Head Office (Vauxhall, London). Fully remote will be considered due to the short-term nature of the role
Salary: £17,316 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting allowance if applicable (London Weighting may not be applicable depending on your home location and any agreed permanent homeworking arrangement)

Contract type: Part Time, Fixed Term (6 Months)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week. (usual hours 9.00am to 5.30pm 3 days per week, flexible arrangements will be considered for candidates wanting to work the 22.5 hours over a different pattern during business days/hours)

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a temporary Finance Administrator on a part time basis.

This is a hands-on role in a very busy finance team supporting the transactional finance team at Refuge while we continue working on the roll out of our new finance system. This role reports to the Transactions Manager and will provide support with all transactional finance activities within the finance team and to colleagues across the wider organisation. This role will take on duties to allow other team members to progress our work on our systems project.
