Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

About Trans Celebration

Trans Celebration is a trans-led, grassroots human rights organisation based in the UK, dedicated to celebrating and advocating for trans and gender-diverse people. Through monthly awareness campaigns and creative programming across fashion, beauty, and the arts, we amplify trans voices and promote inclusivity in public life and culture.

We are seeking a passionate and creative Social Media Volunteer to help grow our online presence and build stronger engagement with our community.

Job Summary

The Social Media Volunteer will support the development and execution of content across Trans Celebration’s social media platforms. You’ll play a vital role in amplifying our message, promoting events and campaigns, and building a vibrant online space for our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and schedule posts across social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter (X), Facebook, and TikTok.

• Assist in developing social media strategies and brainstorming campaign ideas aligned with our brand.

• Monitor engagement and respond to comments and messages in a timely, inclusive, and respectful manner.

• Track analytics to measure campaign performance and suggest improvements.

• Stay up to date with trends in social media, digital culture, and LGBTQIA+ advocacy.

• Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent branding and messaging across channels.

• Support content creation, including text, images, reels, and stories.

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their audiences.

• Experience with online engagement and/or community management.

• Basic knowledge of social media scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Later, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

• Organised, professional, and detail-oriented.

Bonus Experience (Not Required):

• Graphic design or basic photo/video editing skills.

• Experience working with charities or LGBTQIA+ organisations.

Project Coordinator

Job Title: EPAfrica Summer Team – Project Coordinator (PC)
Location: Kakamega, Kenya 

Duration: Minimum 3 weeks during our summer programme, which runs from approximately 1st July – 13th September 2025.
Start Date: UK-based training and preparation begins in June, with travel to Kenya taking place several days before the start of your placement.

 Compensation: Non-salaried placement, with the following expenses covered:

• Travel: Project-related travel in and around Kakamega County is fully covered.

• Accommodation: Fully covered throughout the EPAfrica summer. 

• Programme delivery costs: All costs associated with programme delivery (travel to sites, partner meeting expenses, etc) paid for by the charity.

• Additional Costs: Round-trip flights to Kenya and limited subsistence costs, plus any personal travel elsewhere within Kenya (e.g., for your holiday week). 

About EPAfrica

EPAfrica (Education Partnerships Africa) is a volunteer-led charity working in partnership with rural secondary schools in East Africa. Our mission is to create sustainable change in education by investing in resources, infrastructure, and local capacity. Our volunteers are central to our work — building strong relationships, learning deeply about the local context, and delivering projects that matter.

Role Overview

As a Project Coordinator (PC), you will be a key part of the Summer Team, supporting the smooth operation of EPAfrica’s in-country summer programme. You’ll work alongside the Project Manager and other Project Coordinators to provide on-the-ground coordination, logistical support, and pastoral care for our Project Workers (PWs). This is a dynamic and rewarding role that gives you insight into international development, team leadership, and operational planning.

Key Responsibilities

• With guidance from the Project Manager (PM), support our team of Project Workers (PWs) in their school placements, including:

  • Monitor project progress and guide PWs to address any issues as they arise

  • Offering pastoral support and help maintain the wellbeing of Project Workers

  • Co-deliver trainings on topics such as project management, effective international development practices, safety and wellbeing, and cultural awareness

  • Coordinating key operational logistics relating to summer programme delivery.

• Facilitate communication between PWs, our in-country Summer Team, and the UK-based central charity team.

• Help deliver our in-country monitoring and evaluation programme, enabling us to effectively plan for and deliver future investments. This includes:

  • Monitoring visits to current & recent investment schools to gauge impact of EPAfrica’s work

  • Assessment visits to potential future EPAfrica participant schools

  • Staying up-to-date research into developments in the Kenyan education system and potential impacts on our work

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with our network of local partners.

• Contribute to Summer Team planning, reflection sessions, and process documentation

• Help to maintain the safety, security, and wellbeing of the Kenya-based team, working within the charity’s risk guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong familiarity with, and demonstrated interest in, EPAfrica’s values and operating model.

• A demonstrated interest in grassroots international development is required; previous experience in this setting (volunteering, fieldwork, or prior work experience) preferred.

• Experience being a part of teams delivering project-based work, and leading with empathy. 

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. 

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems under pressure.

• Willingness to operate in a challenging, fast-paced environment and to be involved in making decisions which affect the wider team.

• Experience as a Project Worker or previous Summer Team involvement preferred – but alternatively, relevant professional or volunteering experience in a similar context.

Time Commitment: Flexible hours + monthly team meeting (First Thursday of each month, time TBC)

Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for securing funding for a good cause? We’re seeking a Volunteer Project Manager to lead and coordinate our Grants Team, helping us access essential funding to deliver life-changing programmes.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and coordinate the Grants Team to identify, apply for, and manage funding opportunities

• Chair monthly meetings and track team actions and outcomes

• Support the preparation and submission of compelling grant applications

• Monitor funding deadlines, reporting requirements, and application status

• Work closely with the leadership to align funding with organisational goals

• Occasionally attend in-person meetings (if feasible)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous experience in project coordination, grants, or fundraising (desirable but not essential)

• Strong writing and communication skills

• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

• Collaborative team player with leadership potential

• Familiarity with budgeting or nonprofit finance is a plus

• Comfortable with remote tools and flexible working

Are you an organised, proactive individual passionate about supporting meaningful community work? We're looking for a Volunteer Project Manager to lead our Jumping Beans Team—a child-focused initiative supporting local families through engaging programmes and activities.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and manage the Jumping Beans Team to deliver projects on time and effectively

• Coordinate and chair weekly Tuesday evening team meetings

• Track team tasks, monitor project progress, and ensure timelines are met

• Regularly report progress to the leadership team

Small Animal Coordinator - RSPCA Buckinghamshire South Branch

About the Opportunity

As an Assistant Rehoming Coordinator, you will play a vital role in finding homes for animals cared for by our local RSPCA branch. You will work with the Small Animal Coordinator, and the team of fosterers, liaise with external organisations, and maintain accurate rehoming records. This role is essential in improving animal welfare and promoting responsible pet ownership.

The Buckinghamshire South Branch is a separately registered local charity, working alongside the national RSPCA to carry out animal welfare work in our area. Our branch focuses on providing small animal welfare and rehoming services with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

Rehoming Coordination:

● Act as the contact point for the public, police, local authorities, RSPCA inspectors, and other organisations regarding the acceptance of unwanted or unowned animals.

● Ensure that all animals offered for adoption are assessed prior to rehoming.

● Working with the Small Animal Coordinator and a team of fosterers to make a plan for all intake animals and prepare animals for adoption.

● Oversee the adoption process, including reviewing applications, arranging viewings, and carrying out home visits (in-person or virtually).

● Maintain regular contact with fosterers to oversee animal welfare, including monitoring animal health, behaviour, and rehoming readiness.

Fosterer and Volunteer Management:

● Working with the Small Animal Coordinator to recruit and manage a team of fosterers.

● Working with the team to provide and support training, issuing updates, and maintaining motivation.

● Working with Small animal Coordinator to conduct in-person interviews and risk assessments for fosterer placement suitability, including reviewing references.

● Support fosterers with veterinary visits, including emergencies and end-of-life decisions.

● Organise holiday cover for fosterers, including sourcing temporary carers.

Animal Care and Welfare:

● Arrange for veterinary visits, vaccinations, and neutering procedures for animals in care.

● Ensure all animals are scanned for microchips and returned to original owners when appropriate.

● Develop and implement care plans for each animal, considering health, companionship, and rehoming needs.

● Keep accurate records of all animals in care, including health status, treatment plans, and adoption outcomes.

Administration and Reporting:

● Compile regular rehoming and welfare reports.

● Maintain accurate records of rehoming activities and fosterer details.

● Ensure compliance with data protection legislation when handling sensitive information.

● Contribute to the monthly and annual branch reports.

● Support fundraising events and write content for social media appeals.

What We’re Looking For:

● Excellent organisation and communication skills.

● Knowledge and experience of working with small animals.

● Understanding of welfare guidelines and where appropriate Defra regulations.

● Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a volunteer team.

● Comfortable with administrative tasks, including record-keeping and report writing.

● Experience in team management is advantageous but not essential.

● Passion for animal welfare and improving the lives of animals.

● Flexible and reliable, with the capacity to offer an ongoing commitment, we are looking for 2 positions to cover days, evenings and weekends.

● You must be 18 years or older, hold a valid driving licence and be able to lift animals in and out of your own vehicle safely, possess your own vehicle, lap top, mobile phone and have access to the internet.  Ideally you will also have space for equipment to foster and assess small animals, especially rabbits.

Main purpose of job: To host our Parent/Carer online community support group as part of Mast Cell Actions community support services.

Key tasks include:

· Host support sessions with professionalism and enthusiasm.

· Moderate Q&A sessions, and facilitate audience interaction to keep participants engaged.

· Manage technical aspects of virtual events, to ensure smooth execution.

· Take the register and send post event emails using our bespoke event platform

· Raise safeguarding concerns using internal processes and procedures. Training will be provided

· Maintain confidentiality and follow charity policies and procedures

· Undertake relevant training

Key Objectives Include:

· The main purpose of this role is to facilitate and host our Parent/Carer Support Sessions alongside another volunteer

· Host support sessions in a manner that captivates and engages the audience, keeping them interested and actively participating throughout the event.

· Reassure and validate participants' experiences whilst encouraging story-sharing.

· Manage the technical aspects of virtual events proficiently.

· Represent Mast Cell Action professionally at all times, demonstrating strong communication skills, reliability, and adaptability in a virtual environment.

Experience/skills required:

· Proven experience as a virtual event host, moderator, or similar role is desirable but not essential as we can train you.

· Must have personal experience of being a parent or carer for a child with MCAS or suspected MCAS

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone
