Saferworld is recruiting a Country Manager, Afghanistan to lead our Afghanistan programme and shape the strategic direction of our work in line with Saferworld’s 10-year organisational strategy.

The post-holder will provide strong leadership and be responsible for the strategic steer based in our organisational strategy and rooted in partners’ collective visions for their societies. They will lead on partnership relations, resourcing efforts, providing financial oversight, managing staff, and reporting to donors. They will represent Saferworld in interactions with relevant authorities, donors, and other stakeholders in Afghanistan, South Asia, and globally. The post-holder will engage in cross-organisational information-sharing and lesson-learning on policy and strategy issues, and develop written analysis linking experiences and learning in Afghanistan to global trends and platforms.

This programme operates in a complex context. In this environment, effective leadership requires that the post-holder centres partners voices and views in planning for and managing a range of expected and unexpected risks. Thanks for taking the time to explore the role of Trusts Fundraising Manager at the Family Holiday Charity. The role is becoming vacant as our current Trusts Fundraiser is taking early retirement. We’re super happy for her. But it means time for change! So, we're looking for a new colleague to join us and build forward from all the hard work that she’s put in!

This role is a critical one in our fundraising plans - raising around £300k annually, with pipeline potential for more as you unlock partnership working and programme development across the organisation.

You’ll need to be a bit of an all-rounder - researching and keeping pipelines updated, eccure gifts and donations, consider applications, adapt data and information and inspire with your words, reporting on progress and income. Add a dash of strategic thinking as we develop programmes and look for new funding support to achieve that. We currently raise about £200k (with about ¾ of that as secure as any pipeline can be) but have a budget target of £100k to raise from partnership working and programme development with others in the team. There’s a lot of potential in this area!

The trusts environment is, quite frankly, a bit bonkers so we know that this won't appear on paper to be the easiest role in the world. You’re going to need grit and tenacity as well as all the other skills a good trust fundraiser needs. But we’re a great team, going great things and in a fantastic position to build forward from our existing strong position in Trusts.

We’re a small but flexible team - just like our approach to work. This is a hybrid role, and you’ll need to show your face in the office periodically (for things with a purpose, not just for the sake of it!). The Referral and Operational Development Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Managing Director with new business development, coordinating and managing referrals, assessments, tenancies and transitions for our customers with learning disabilities and autism.

The working pattern for this role is:Monday - Friday 9am-5pm

What you'll do:
Referral & Assessment Coordination
* Monitor and respond to referrals from external sources and direct contacts.
* Maintain a current tracking system for referral clarity and produce regular reports.

The Researcher is a new, important post at Arthritis UK. Working within our Health Intelligence team, you will lead on providing expertise on the latest relevant research evidence, providing a responsive, robust and balanced assessment of the available evidence and any key gaps to shape the charity's UK advocacy agenda, and drive organisational priorities. Working across a range of issues you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the experiences and needs of people living with arthritis are understood and acted upon, and that arthritis is taken seriously across the UK.

About you
If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we'd love to hear from you:

• In-depth knowledge and experience in working in health-related, research.
• Experience in the synthesis and evaluation of research evidence across a range of sources (including grey literature), including in the design and delivery of rapid reviews.
• Experience in communicating clearly and succinctly to non-technical and non-expert audiences, through both written formats (e.g. briefing papers) and verbally (e.g. via presentations and meetings with senior stakeholders), with a robust approach to accessibility throughout communication.

As an Enhanced Support Worker you will support vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community, by providing flexible and individually tailored support.

The Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring that the staff and Trustees are supplied with timely, accurate and relevant financial information. This includes budgets for the Museum, trading subsidiary, individual departments and capital and revenue projects as necessary, as well as quarterly management accounts, cash flow and forecast, with additional analyses and reports as necessary.

This is a demanding post requiring attention to detail, the ability to take an overview and to make progress with several tasks in parallel. The Finance team is headed by the Finance Director and in addition to the Management Accountant there is a Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.  The Museum employs around 80 members of staff (48 FTE).

Key responsibilities:

· Preparation of management reports, accurate quarterly forecasts and assistance with preparation of the year-end financial statements.

· Preparation of information for regular and ad hoc returns to DCMS and other external bodies.

· Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, public and charitable sector regulations and guidelines.

· Analysis of Museum-wide income and expenditure streams to monitor and improve efficiency and profitability.

· Provide and review financial information for funding applications.

· Key to the successful execution of these duties would be an understanding of financial information in relationship to the activities of the Museum and to explain these clearly to the Senior Management Team and Trustees.

· To provide the Board of Directors of the trading subsidiary, Soane Museum Enterprises, with relevant financial and management accounting information and to attend the quarterly meetings as required.

· With the Finance Director, ensure compliance with the Treasury publication ‘Managing Public Money’, Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), the Framework Document issued by DCMS, Cabinet Office control of Civil Service Pensions and the Statement of Recommended Practice on Accounting and Reporting by Charities (SORP FRS 102).

· As part of the finance team, work with the auditors of the Museum and SME and the internal auditor.

· To work with the Finance Director liaising with DCMS on financial and other matters and developing a good working relationship. This includes completion of annual and other reports including the Museum’s submissions for the periodic Spending Reviews.

· To maintain financial and internal control systems, mindful of the requirements of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, internal audit and the NAO. 

· To provide papers in a timely manner for meetings of the Trustees and their Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and to attend meetings, as required.

· To contribute financial expertise to Museum-wide projects and initiatives.

· Work one day a quarter on the weekend rota to support front of house staff (for which TOIL is given). 

Person Specification

· Educated to degree level or equivalent experience with an accountancy qualification ACA/CIMA.

· Good technical knowledge of relevant Accounting Standards.

(Knowledge of government accounting would also be desirable.)

· Experience ideally within the charity/not-for-profit sector or an understanding of compiling charity SORP and company accounts.

· A broad understanding of VAT requirements (including partial exemption methods) and other taxation issues such as the operation of Gift Aid in the charity sector and corporation tax within trading subsidiaries.

· Excellent communication skills with a willingness to take a hands-on approach. The Museum has only a small staff covering a multitude of disciplines working closely together in a cooperative environment.

· An ability to prioritise workload and use initiative with problem solving skills and attention to detail.

-      Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel, and a working knowledge of accounting systems, preferably with direct experience of Sage.

-     An interest in the museum sector.

Remuneration

This is a 3 days a week post at a salary of £23,735 pa, (£39,558 FTE)

16 days annual leave plus (pro-rata of 26.5 days) and pro-rata Bank and public holidays  

Museum staff can choose to join an excellent, defined benefits pension scheme, the Principal Civil Service Scheme Alpha. The Museum provides an annual season ticket loan.

We have Hybrid Working and this post-holder can work for 1 day a week at home, on the completion of the 6 month probationary period.

We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to vulnerable guests who access the Community Wellbeing Service, a local support hub offering relief from the rising cost of living for local families. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, money management and access to training and employment services. The postholder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers.

The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience delivering effective advice or in a similar capacity, demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people, and have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits and housing policies/legislations, with a strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes for our guests.

Through our Reset Outreach & Referral Service (RORS), we support people in Tower Hamlets affected by drugs and alcohol. Our team takes a harm-reduction approach: meeting people where they are, reducing stigma, and helping them access treatment, health services, and wider community support.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference—whether you bring experience from substance use services or transferable skills and a passion for supporting people.

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role, you should be able to:

• Provide outreach and in-reach support to people affected by substance use across Tower Hamlets, including those who may have a history of rough sleeping, be vulnerably housed, or otherwise disconnected from mainstream services.

• Carry out person-centred assessments and work collaboratively with service users to develop support and recovery plans.

• Make timely and appropriate referrals to specialist services (e.g. treatment, health, housing, and social care) to ensure holistic support.

• Develop strong working relationships with partner agencies to coordinate joint support and reduce barriers to engagement.

• Promote harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches, ensuring that people are empowered in their choices.

• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the Reset service.

About the role 

The Campaigning Youth Worker (CPW) will work with young people who are seeking asylum or who are refugees in London to support them to seek change to laws and policies on the issues that matter to them. This role will be located in Croydon and King’s Cross, with regular attendance at our service delivery venues across London as required, including one evening activity per week. 

The role will involve building relationships with young people who attend Young Roots activities and through outreach, having ongoing conversations about the issues that young people say matter to them, working with young people to understand how change to laws and policies happens and supporting young people to take campaigning action to achieve that change.

The Role

As one of our Project Managers in the Event Development team, you will play a vital role in project visioning, developing and tendering for a wide range of annual contracted events throughout The Royal Parks.

Specifically, you will help support and deliver the commercial and strategic vision for our most significant major events and lead on the development of new event tender projects.

You’ll ensure that our commercial activities are sustainable and profitable whilst remaining consistent with our values and sympathetic to parkland activities. With this in mind, you will project lead on market research, commercial modelling, strategic and creative visioning, tender planning and contract development work.

The role will involve:

• Creating and drafting strategies for future tenders for major public events
• Preparing and maintaining detailed project plans and tender documentation
• Gathering event feasibility, market research data and information for event tenders
• Supporting the Event Development team project activities for event tenders
• Managing the day-to-day admin for event tender projects

Additionally, the role does not involve:

• Working on or managing events, as the hosting venue we do not organise events ourselves
• Booking events suppliers or entertainment

About You

To be considered as one of our Project Managers within Event Development, you will need:

• Excellent experience working as a project manager within outdoor events or public parks
• Good knowledge and experience in tendering for event providers and contract administration within the events industry
• Excellent communication, presentation, proofreading and report-writing skills
• Good organisation skills
• The ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships
• The ability to analyse information, make informed judgements, appraise performance, and manage risks
• A PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent Microsoft Project and/or Project Management experience would be beneficial to your application. A degree level education in event management or equivalent experience would be desirable.

An understanding of the public procurement exercises (The Procurement Act 2023) would be desirable.

IT literacy, including Microsoft Office products; Teams, OneDrive, Project, Planner, To-do, SharePoint, PowerPoint & Sway, Lists and Viva, would also be advantageous.
