Flexibility

Our London-based staff operate on a hybrid model, working in our office within London South Bank University (one minute from Elephant and Castle tube station) on Mondays and Tuesdays (for full time staff – part-time staff are only required to work one of those days in the office) and at home for the rest of the week. We also have staff outside London who are fully home-based. Job Title: Arts and Learning Strategic Lead

Location: Based at our head office in Islington, London (10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station) with cross working in various prisons across England, Community sites, and home working

Salary: £47,000 (Full time equivalent)

Shift Pattern: 22.5 hours per week Monday to Friday between 09:00 - 17:00 with some flexibility. You may be required to work outside these hours as per service requirements.

About the role

This is a brand new role, supporting the Head of Safe Ground with the strategic oversight and delivery of our programmes. Safe Ground has been at the forefront of designing and delivering innovative arts-based, therapeutically informed interventions within the criminal justice system and in communities across the UK. As we approach our 30th anniversary this year, we remain dedicated to challenging systematic injustice through the programmes we run and the partnerships we build. This role is a great opportunity to be part of our transformative goals, in being part of creating systematic change.

Using theatre arts, and culture, we design initiatives to support those impacted by the criminal justice system in gaining deeper insights into themselves, their relationships and their behaviours. We do this by equipping our participants with practical tools and building a community who are open to doing things differently. In this role, you will develop best practice around creative interventions, building powerful partnerships with commissioners, partners, and other key stakeholders, ensuring our programmes are being delivered to the highest standards. You will lead on the development of new and existing arts-based work, identifying gaps and opportunities for growth within the sector.

• Oversee the development of new creative ideas and programmes as well as programme adaptations and redesigns. Ideas could be linked to theatre productions in and out of custodial settings, short films, live events, symposiums, but may also include new art forms and working with new artists
• Development of a local / national facilitator network
• Create and deliver engaging high-quality programmes which support rehabilitation and reintegration for participants
• Design and deliver innovation arts-based high quality training and quality assurance support to management and delivery teams across the SIG network - focusing specifically on relationships, culture and communication, conflict resolution, storytelling, power-sharing and co-production
• Lead on the development of creative ideas for Safe Grounds 30th anniversary, including; relationship building and partnership development, advocacy and networking, idea development - radio / stage / film etc
• Provide high quality peer-mentoring spaces, leadership, and line management to staff, offering guidance, support, and advice to the team to support them to perform to the best of their abilities. Facilitate the team in identifying solutions to challenges presented in relation to all elements of service delivery

About you

We are looking for someone who is ambitious and passionate about supporting people who have experienced multiple disadvantages and social exclusion. You will have proven experience in arts development and strategic support, with an extensive understanding of the criminal justice system and the role in which arts-based interventions play. You will be creative, empowering, and be a dedicated lead in supporting our strategic growth. You will understand arts-based interventions and methodologies, and have experience in developing and delivering creative programmes and productions.

• Previous experience in working and engaging with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Previous experience in developing, producing, and/or performing professional productions for example film, television, or theatre productions
• Proven experience in designing innovative arts-based programmes and extensive experience of facilitation of programmes and/or training for various groups
• A theoretical understanding of co-production models and practical application of building them and embedding them into best practice
• Previous experience and/or ability to people manage and develop a team
• Ability to create, develop, and deliver new programmes and/or creative content in various settings such as prisons, communities, and wider criminal justice settings
• Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral. Ability to form and build effective relationships and rapport with others

Background and summary of the job

The Minster Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee that provides training in psychotherapy and counselling and an affordable therapy service.

It was founded in 1978 as the first Integrative psychotherapy and counselling training in the UK and is a leading psychotherapy training institution. Now based in Queens Park, NW London, it runs training ranging from open access introductory courses to post-graduate degrees validated by Middlesex University. The Minster Centre caters for around 300 diploma and MA students each year. It is registered with the Office for Students.

The Minster Centre Psychotherapy & Counselling Service (MCPCS) also provides a safe, affordable and professional counselling service to people over the age of 18 who are experiencing a range of difficulties. We strive to offer a high-quality and affordable Psychotherapy and Counselling service to the community and to offer our trainees an experience underpinned by our values.

The Minster Centre Psychotherapy & Counselling Service Administrator will work with the Clinical Services Manager and one other Administrator to ensure the smooth running of the service and support in its continuing development.

Role purpose

Enquiries

• Dealing with phone and email enquiries including potential MCPCS clients, existing clients, trainee therapists and placement providers, etc.
• Emailing Assessment Application Forms, assessing suitability of enquirer for service – asking for additional help when required from the Clinical Services Manager.

Administration

• Providing strong administrative support to the Clinical Services Manager.
• Providing regular detailed data information to the Clinical Services Manager, including reports from Access Database and future Charitylog data systems about functionality of service.
• Inputting and updating student data spreadsheets and client spreadsheets relating to client session fees, providing reports and liaising with students, finance team and clients to ensure all session fees are up to date and reporting on any missed payments weekly.
• Administer MCPCS processes and procedures for instance by designing forms and records formats, ensuring they are available to students, supervisors and clients. Ensuring the service has paperwork available to operate effectively: Assessment packs; Allocation packs; student forms.
• Inputting data from paper records and managing electronic records. Keeping data management up to date and archiving files as and when appropriate.
• Assisting Clinical Services Manager and other senior leadership in overseeing MCPCS, with additional tasks as and when requested.

· Ensuring our stitchers are paid for their work accurately and efficiently.

· Providing feedback on the stitching by our in-prison workforce.

· Assisting the extended production team with the ordering of materials, special commissions, donations requests and our tapestry finishing service.

· Gathering, logging and reporting on information related to production and prisoner pay using FCW’s custom database.

· Visiting our stitching groups in prison to get an better understanding of the challenges with production that both our volunteer teachers and our stitchers might face in delivering FCW production

You should have excellent interpersonal skills, be accurate in your attention to detail, be flexible and have the ability to take initiative. We expect you to work independently, prioritising your own workload, as well as working as part of a small, lively team.

Principal Accountabilities for the Core Job:

1. Support our volunteers and stitchers by sending our pre-prepared kits to volunteers around the country ahead of the stitching classes and receiving kits back from volunteers.
2. Administer the production process on FCW’s custom database: logging items as they are sent to prisons and volunteers around the country, tracking items as they are returned from prison, providing feedback to prisoners on the work completed and maintaining standards through rigorous quality control.
3. Process payments to prisoners on a weekly basis.
4. Support Fine Cell Work volunteers by dealing with requests for threads and troubleshooting problems with kits. 
5. Log data, collate and report on production, prisoner pay and stitcher statistics as required for the senior management and the fundraising teams, to include monthly reports and annual reports.
6. Supporting the use of FCW’s custom database to include testing and feedback on new features and uploading and maintaining relevant information.
7. Order materials in advance for production activities in prison workshops as well as at the FCW office, liaising with commercial suppliers as well as materials donors. Supporting the production manager with the production of all kits in prison workshops as well as by volunteers in the office.
8. Work with the Programmes and Impact Officer to enable Open College Network accredited training to be delivered in prisons by making up and sending out starter kits and materials to stitchers.
9. With the Programmes and Impact Officer, provide technical support for our lone stitchers by sending out work, talking to them on the phone or replying to letters.
10. Where appropriate, working with the Design and Commissions team to assist with the preparation of specialist kit and sample products, ordering materials and collecting stitcher feedback to assist with future production.
11. Coordinate FCW’s tapestry finishing and making up service.
12. Support the production manager to ensure that all ability and pay levels are appropriate to FCW’s stitcher population ensuring these are made and assigned with a view to developing prisoners’ skills and self-responsibility.
13. With the Programmes team, co-facilitate production training for volunteers both online and in person.
14. Assist with bi-annual stock counts involving staff, volunteers, prison leavers and prison staff to include finished items, work in progress and raw materials in all the prisons where FCW operates, as well as at FCW’s London office.
15. Coordinate Fine Cell Work volunteers with their weekly tasks as provided by the production manager.
16. First point of contact for phone calls to the office, assisting callers with enquiries and diverting calls to relevant members of staff.
17. On occasion, visit cell groups in prison around the country to support volunteers and stitchers in FCW production.
18. Assist with Fine Cell Work events as and when required.
19. Ad hoc duties to support the work of the charity as required including back-up support to production with apprentices and volunteers in the Clothworkers Studio.

Fine Cell Work is a UK based rehabilitation charity and social enterprise which makes beautiful handmade products in British prisons. For 28 years we’ve been transforming the lives of people in prison and prison leavers, one stitch at a time. Our unique process boosts our stitcher’s self-worth, instils accountability, and fosters hope.

We support people in prison and prison leavers to finish their sentences with work skills, money earned and saved, and the self-belief to rebuild meaningful, independent, crime-free lives. 

Set up in 1997 by Lady Anne Tree following years of lobbying the government to change prison rules about prisoners earning money from work done in their cells, Fine Cell Work operates in 38 British prisons engaging with over 600 people in prison in 2024. Our stitchers are supported by our skilled and valued volunteers who visit prison fortnightly to teach needlework.

By providing, paid, purposeful activity to prepare people in prison to successfully reintegrate into the community post-release, we are teaching key soft employment skills, supporting the development of self-discipline and self-belief,  and working to improve prisoner well-being, all key in reducing recidivism.

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, oversight and curation to the FYT Leadership Team, and to lead the smooth running of the FYT Organisation which supports the wider FYT Movement. 7. Develop, implement and monitor FYT’s strategic plan in partnership with the FYT team and board
8. Engage in practical theological reflection on FYT’s mission and how it is expressed.
9. Attend and contribute as required to Board meetings, working closely with the Chair and Board to ensure that appropriate issues are raised, and that any agreed action is put into effect.
10. Be an advocate for marginalised young people, the issues they face, and youth workers and projects working with them (pursuing prophetic mischief, provocation, and taking up our unique space in the youth ministry community).
11. Make links with appropriate Christian, voluntary and statutory bodies and to represent FYT in appropriate forums and pursue opportunities for collaborative working.
12. Support the active promotion of the FYT training and resource offer.
13. Lead the monitoring and evaluation (impact assessment) of FYT’s work

Other functions:

1. Meet regularly with Line Manager for supervision.
2. Undertake administration and keep necessary work records.
3. Comply with all FYT policies and procedures.
4. Work collaboratively with the FYT leadership team and Board to ensure that organisational policies are regularly reviewed.
5. Engage in CPD/lifelong learning.
6. Undertake any other tasks that may be requested, commensurate with the nature and level of the post and as may be required by the Board of Trustees.

• The Leadership Team is supported by a contract with Giraffe HR that assists in the day to day running of the organisation, primarily managing the finances of the organisation.

Job Description

Catch22 are excited to be recruiting for a specialist Women & Girls Case worker for our new Home Office Funded County Lines Support and Rescue Service.

The Case Worker role will undertake 121 work with young people under 25yrs old and will specialise in working with female young people within the service.

County Lines Support Service A specialist support service for under 25’s and their families who are criminally exploited through county lines in London, the West Midlands, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Rescue Service a rescue service with out of hours capacity to facilitate the safe return home, at a critical teachable moment, of under 25’s from London, the West Midlands, Merseyside and Greater Manchester where they are identified outside of their home police force area in connection with county lines.

Some of your day-to-day tasks will be:

Provide one to one, end to end, appropriate support, and interventions to a pre-defined case load of female young people involved in County Lines activity (and their families where appropriate) who are referred by means of effective assessment, care planning and risk management
Act as the single point of contact and specialist in the region for women and girls involved in County Lines activity. Attend multi-agency meetings and engage with key stakeholders to raise awareness of the distinct needs and circumstances of women and girls and how the service can support them.  Act as point of contact in the region for our partners, providing gender based training, awareness and developing a differentiated offer to improve the impact and effectiveness of services for women and girls involved in County Lines Activity.
Proactively and continually assess and manage risk of caseload, using internal and external safeguarding procedures for escalation and where necessary and adapting case management frequency and methodology to reflect the individual needs and circumstances of young people.
To ensure that the diverse needs and aspirations of all groups of service users are considered in service planning and delivery and to enable all service users to fulfil their potential.
Liaise effectively with local partner organisations and other relevant agencies to ensure effective referrals, care and risk management as well as ease of transition and referral for young people and to promote the continued joint work of the service and other partners. Act as a sub-regional or district single point of contact where required.

This post will involve travel across the regional area, the ability be on call on a rota system and occasional evening and weekend working.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in a related field such as youth work, community work, health & social care, or a similar discipline.

Experience working directly with young people (aged 8–25) and their families, particularly those identified as vulnerable or with complex needs.

A strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by young women and girls affected by exploitation and County Lines activity.

Proven experience of multi-agency working, ideally with Children’s Services, Youth Justice, or other statutory and voluntary organisations.

Knowledge of risk and vulnerability issues affecting young people, and the ability to assess and manage these risks appropriately.

Ability to deliver one-to-one and group interventions, and to adapt engagement strategies to meet individual needs.

Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to maintain accurate records using data management systems.

Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as part of an on-call rota.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

We are looking to recruit a facilities and office coordinator to provide a high-quality service for the Centre. This is an exciting role in our facilities team that will support the smooth running of the building, including maintaining kitchen supplies, issuing building access passes, supporting with the administration of the planned maintenance cycle and with building maintenance requests.

With your warm, friendly, professional manner, you will provide exemplary office management, from accepting regular deliveries and post for our hostel residents and services, to ensuring we have all the right supplies in the right place.  You’ll be a strong help to the Facilities Manager, providing top-notch administrative support to maintain our requirements under health and safety, and hands-on help when needed around the building.

Bringing your experience of office management and willingness and enthusiasm to support with maintenance tasks, you will proactively seek to continually improve yourself and the role, championing a culture of service excellence, as well as taking ownership and accountability of your workload.
