Prospectus is delighted to be working with the Foundation to recruit a Funding Manager on a full-time (or 0.8) permanent basis to work on the A Fairer Future (AFF) programme as part of the team based in Kings Cross.

The role:

This key role will add substantial grant-making and strategic capacity to the AFF team, which currently consists of 7 people  reporting to the Director of A Fairer Future. The role will take on existing relationships in the form of a portfolio of organisations at various points in their funding journey. This person will pick up these relationships and ensure continuity as well as assessing new applications.  There will also be work contributing to strategic initiatives, helping to achieve impact in the thematic areas covered by the AFF strategy and roadmaps. Committed to social justice, the candidate will be ambitious to help create change using Esmée's full range of tools and approaches.

Convening collaborations, commissioning research and mobilising networks to create change will all be part of this role in addition to the more day to day management of organisation's funding journey, supporting them from application onwards to achieve the best possible impact. They will also be responsible for capturing learning from reporting, site visits and facilitating online discussions with organisations, as well as representing the Foundation at sector forums and events concentrating on the AFF priority areas.

The person:

The successful candidate will have experience of working in one or more of the areas cover by the AFF priorities, perhaps gained through work in the voluntary or local authority sector.  We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in services to Children and Young People and/or racial justice, but are also interested to hear from those with experience more broadly across our AFF priority areas. This experience could have been gained from the delivering or commissioning programmes in these areas or indeed from a grant making perspective.

Highly organised, intellectually curious and pragmatic, this person will be able to unpick complex information and will be confident in assessing applicants' financial information. They will understand the charity funding world and importantly, the challenges faced by marginalised communities across the UK in the face of widespread inequity. The AFF team works with the Involving Young People's Collective, candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the value of co-production.

IT confident and systematic in their approach, this person will also be helpful and empathetic in addition to being an excellent communicator, both in person and in written work. Excellent attention to detail, thorough and collaborative in their approach to work, this person will be a real team player whilst being able to work under their own steam, working in a fast-paced environment.

An understanding and experience of systems change principles and an appreciation of the nuanced intersections between the various priorities of the AFF programme will be important to success in this role. My client is a well-recognised independent regulator based in the heart of London and are looking for an Education Quality Administrator on a temporary contract for roughly 5 months, and they operate a hybrid model with office expectations on Thursday.

Your new role

The Education Quality Administrator is responsible for providing administrative support within the Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Improvement team.

• Administrative support where required for our quality assurance processes. This could include, for example:
  • Uploading to our online filing system and formatting documents submitted by organisations, so they are ready for colleagues to analyse.
  • Proofreading documents and uploading them to our online filing systems
  • Proofreading and publishing content for our web pages.

• Administrative support where required for our quality assurance of new medical schools and programmes. This could include, for example:
  • Processing administrative forms for education associates carrying out visits
  • Printing documentation packs and ordering name badges for visits
  • Preparing visit documentation so that education associates can access it online via our document-sharing portal
  • Organising travel, accommodation and meals for staff and education associates attending visits

  • Administering our records to log and reconcile education associate expense claims for budgeting purposes

• Monitoring our quality reporting system in Siebel (this is the system that logs actions that organisations need to implement to meet our standards called 'quality items'), letting colleagues know when items have been updated by an organisation and need to be reviewed, and reporting on pending and overdue items.
• Meeting support for a wide range of meetings across the team. Support would include:
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Calling for agenda items and populating agendas
  • Noting actions during meetings and keeping action logs
  • Maintaining a forward planner of agenda items for our larger meetings.

• Administering and reporting on our education associates, including expense claims to support section budget forecasting, training and annual appraisals.
• Manage emails coming into the team's shared mailbox, liaising with colleagues to ensure emails and queries are dealt with by the appropriate person within our agreed timeframes.
• To understand and apply our safeguarding policy and processes for protecting children and adults at risk of harm (including knowing how to recognise, record and report safeguarding).
• Any other reasonable duties may be assigned from time to time.

The Role

As our Senior Finance Business Partner & Analyst you support all financial aspects of our income generation and contract management working closely with budget holders and senior management. About the role

As Guidance Programme Manager, you will lead the Guidance team delivering quality assurance and innovation of our clinical guidance and patient information resources. You’ll work closely with the Director of Clinical Quality and Senior Guidance Editorial Manager, and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including clinicians, patients, partner organisations and specialist societies.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Guidance team
• Managing key relationships with partner organisations such as NICE, RCM, and our specialist societies
• Leading the continuous improvement of RCOG guidance and patient information
• Ensuring robust governance, quality assurance and compliance with information governance and SOPs
• Supporting innovation in guidance production, recognising the fast pace of technological change in this space
• Championing patient and public involvement throughout our work

About you

This position is well-suited to an experienced and inspiring Programme Manager to lead our Guidance and Patient Information team, a pivotal part of our mission to improve care for women, girls, and babies around the world.

Requirements:

• Experienced team leader
• Experienced in managing complex programmes or portfolios in a healthcare, academic, or charity setting
• Skilled in stakeholder management, especially in multidisciplinary or clinical environments
• Able to demonstrate a commitment to co-production and inclusive engagement
• A confident communicator, capable of presenting to a range of audiences and influencing at all levels
• A team player and leader, passionate about improving standards and making an impact

A qualification in programme or project management (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience is essential. Experience working with or developing clinical guidance and familiarity with women’s health are desirable.

Job Information: This Service Development Manager role has two focus areas: one is the development of our Drugs In Breastmilk Information service ensuring it adapts to the changing preferences and needs of our audience moving forwards (15-hour maternity cover contract). The second is looking at BfN information accessibility more broadly (6 hour fixed term contract).

The successful candidate will be expected to endorse and promote the objectives set out as part of AvMA’s five year strategic plan.

Lawyers Service

• Providing high quality services to our lawyers including identifying and recommending appropriate medical experts to clinical negligence solicitors; maintaining and developing the medical expert database. Routinely considering the Experts’ Protocol and ensuring that it remains relevant and fit for purpose.

Inquest Service

• Assessing cases for eligibility for AvMA’s pro bono Inquest Service according to AvMA’s criteria.
• Preparing cases for the coroner’s court to include sorting medical records; liaising with bereaved families by phone and in writing; researching medical literature; taking and preparing initial statements; liaising with the Coroner’s officer; securing appropriate disclosure documents; instructing counsel; assisting with preparation of bundles of documents for the hearing. Identifying general and specific patient safety issues; considering need for Prevention of Future Death Reports and or Action Plans.
• Attendance at pre-inquest hearings and inquest hearings with counsel and the family. This may involve travel and overnight stays. Out-of-pocket expenses are paid. Although overtime is not payable, time out of the office is recoverable in accordance with AvMA Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) policy. Attendance may also be required to attend partial remote hearings via Teams/Zoom
• Capturing and recording key data from inquests, securing feedback from clients.
• Working with Medico Legal Team Leader to ensure appropriate publicity on case outcomes where appropriate to include obtaining relevant client consents and that the case is written up for potential publication in AvMA’s Lawyer Service Newsletter ​​​​​​​

Advice & Information Service

• Providing advice, support and information to the public through written casework. This involves helping people affected by medical accidents to obtain an understanding of what has happened to them, their rights and the most appropriate option(s) for resolving their concerns and meeting their needs including referrals to panel solicitors.

Helpline

• Providing advice and assistance to the public on AvMA’s specialist helpline. Training will be given and in due course assisting the Helpline Development Officer to train helpline volunteers.

Other Duties

• To endorse and promote the objectives set out as part of AvMA’s five year strategic plan: AvMA's 5 Year  Strategic Plan
• Junior Certification: Promoting the Certificate Competence Scheme (junior lawyer scheme) to include assessing applications received
• Feedback from clients: Working on the direction of ML Director and ML Team Leader to secure maximum feedback from clients on inquest and advice and information services
• Website: Helping to keep AvMA self-help leaflets up to date on the website
• Occasional representation of AvMA at meetings and events
• Conference: To help develop AvMA’s annual conference programme and other conferences as appropriate.

About the role:

This role is based in our Old Street office with the flexibility of hybrid working.

As a Children & Young People's Caseworker, you will:

• Conduct needs and risk assessments, providing tailored support.
• Offer one-on-one support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
• Manage a caseload of 12-15 young people, ensuring their safety.
• Continuously review and act on risk assessments.
• Involve children and young people in decision-making.
• Collaborate with statutory partners and attend relevant meetings.
