Summary job description

Blue Ventures is seeking a Social Media Manager to coordinate our social media communications' strategy, delivery, and measurement. You’ll be responsible for managing all social media channels and creating and producing engaging content to be used across them and beyond. Whether it’s shaping and amplifying stories from communities and partners, sharing our learning far and wide, or crafting content to advocate for ocean protection and the rights of small-scale fishers, you’ll be proactive in finding creative ways to connect with and inspire a range of audiences internationally.

This will be a one-year fixed-term role (with the possibility of extension) based in any of BV's registered locations. You'll report to the Head of Communications and work closely with our Advocacy, Donor Stewardship, and Partnerships teams, as well as national and regional leads.

For countries in which Blue Ventures has an office, our hybrid working policy currently requires attendance in the office for at least 40% of the working week.

About the role 

Every woman who comes to a Smart Works centre is referred by another organisation or charity. Across the UK, over 400 organisations refer women to Smart Works, including job centres, refuges, prisons, work programme providers and other charities.

Without our referral partners, Smart Works would not be able to reach women in need and help them to succeed at interview and start a new chapter. Building and nurturing these partnerships is central to our work and success as a charity.

Based at our centre in Reading, you will work and travel across Berkshire to conduct outreach to ensure Smart Works receives consistent referrals and performs well against our ambitious targets to help more women year on year. in practice, this will include attending meetings with partners, organising events to showcase our service and managing all referral communications.

You will be part of the wider service delivery team in Reading, supporting on the running of the centre to the highest possible standard. This will enable you to understand and speak to the support available to unemployed women in Berkshire and what specifically Smart Works Reading can do to increase this support.

Smart Works Reading has an umbrella organisation, Smart Works Charity based in London, and there may be some infrequent travel to London. There will be liaison with the London team to support induction and training, plus participation in regular on-line meetings, phone calls and attending our annual conferences. 

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the successful candidate will lead a range of activities, including:

• Managing referral partner relationships across Berkshire, nurturing existing relationships and onboarding new partnerships
• Undertake research and creating project plans to set briefs or funding to engage referral partners
• Organise, deliver and attend events across Berkshire that increase referrals to Smart Works Reading
• Analyse and manage a robust database of current referral data and potential referral partners, to identify opportunities, priorities and share successes
• Share regular, engaging communications with referral partners
• Pilot new initiatives and ideas with referral partners to increase and maintain engagement
• Support the smooth running of the Reading centre, such as by answering calls and booking appointments

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual, who has a flexible attitude to lead on our Welsh language service within the Fund.

The Fund is a truly bilingual organisation. Our principle is to treat the Welsh and English languages equally by offering a bilingual service to our customers and grant holders on a day-to-day basis.

The role is essential to ensure that the Fund fulfils its statutory legal requirements to comply with the Welsh Language Standards under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.

You will be the Fund's first point of contact for internal and external enquiries relating to the Welsh language and you will maintain an effective relationship with the Welsh Language Commissioners Office and with Welsh organisations. You will be part of the Fund's Communications Team and will work closely with our Translator to support our internal translation process.

The post holder will work independently to provide specialist leadership and support to teams within the UK to secure our provision of bilingual services.

The ability to speak and write in Welsh fluently and confidently is essential for this post.

We have a hybrid approach to working, work pattern and this role can be based at Cardiff or Newtown, along with homeworking.

Essential criteria

• There must be an understanding of the background and objectives of the current Welsh language requirements in terms of Legislation, Frameworks and Standards. 
• Fluent in spoken and written Welsh, with a proven record of high quality Welsh proofreading
• Experience of providing training such as Language Awareness training to staff and customers
• Experience of using persuasion skills to ensure that the Welsh language is streamed across the organisation
• The ability and experience of working closely with the main Welsh organisations.

Desirable criteria

• Ability to co-ordinate systems and processes and develop effective working relationships to enable collaboration across the Fund
• Ability to work correctly to tight deadlines
• A strong understanding of the importance of a bilingual brand across the communication mix

About the role

Medact’s Movement Organiser will work alongside our Campaign Leads and Head of Movement Building to grow our movement, developing groups of healthcare workers into confident campaigners who can make a visible difference in the struggle for health justice and peace. The successful candidate will spend approximately 80% of their time with one of our campaigners, and 20% participating in cross-organisational work. The ideal candidate will have an interest in, or experience of organising or campaigning around, issues related to economic justice or the climate crisis. 

About you

This is a skilled role, but you don’t need to have worked for an NGO or be a professional organiser to be right for it. You might have organised in your workplace or local community to take action on issues that you care about. Or, you might be a health worker who has seen the impact of injustices such as a poor environment, immigration or counter-terror policies,  low income or precarious housing on your patients, and wants to challenge decision-makers and hold them to account. 

You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, partner organisations and community groups. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment organising and campaigning. Upskilling and empowering our movement is a fundamental part of this role, so you’ll need the ability to deliver training and workshops through an anti-oppressive lens.

The Diocese of Guildford is committed to addressing the urgent challenge of climate change and environmental sustainability and meet the Church of England’s goal to become net zero carbon (NZC) by 2030. As part of this we are seeking a passionate, dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Diocesan Net Zero Carbon Project & Engagement Lead to help us achieve our environmental commitments with respect to decarbonising our residential property portfolio and church buildings.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Influencing and supporting parishes to prepare and deliver their NZC action plans relating to their buildings.

· Support the Property Team to develop and implement a comprehensive NZC action plan for clergy housing.

· Developing relationships with technical specialists and potential funding agencies.

· Managing relationships and communications with a wide range of other stakeholders.

· Managing headline project data and tracking progress against the project delivery plan and providing regular, timely reports highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.

· Ensuring all relevant risks are identified and mitigation actions are in place.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills include:

· Degree or equivalent (with a project management and/or a qualification relevant to NZC being desirable).

· Extensive experience of leading, co-ordinating and delivering complex projects;

· Experience of managing multiple stakeholder types in a complex programme context.

· Up-to-date knowledge of environmental and climate change issues.

· Strong knowledge of project management techniques and processes, including governance, plan management, budget, risk, and issue management. ·

· Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to bring order to complex situations and find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
