Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) helps people in local communities to change their lives for the better, through direct service delivery and by supporting the local voluntary and community sector.

The Building up Individuals for Life and Development (BUILD) Project partnership is funded to provide comprehensive support packages for individuals aged 19 and over. BUILD will work across rural Leicestershire cluster areas identified by our extensive knowledge of and engagement with areas where there are gaps in community based services.

The Project will work with those who are disengaged, feel socially excluded and face multiple barriers, offering a varied, supportive and bespoke skills and personal development approach. This role will play a crucial role in supporting participants. You will identify project participants and conduct person-centred assessments with them. You will be responsible for creating strength-based personal development plans as well as providing ongoing support and guidance in order to help the participants grow in confidence, build skills and gain control of their lives.

Your role will work to increase participation in volunteering and advice on self-employment and entrepreneurship, building networks to share best practice through shared learning. You will be expected to collaborate with our experienced partners Rural Community Council (RCC) who work to improve wellbeing, increase resilience and tackle disadvantage across rural areas and CASE who work to promote social enterprise and rural community development. You will make a tangible impact on individuals’ lives and local communities, fostering sustainable change.

Applicants will need to demonstrate a passion for and experience in supporting individuals to identify and achieve personal goals combined with an established understanding of barriers preventing individuals from accessing support. Proven skills in engaging and motivating individuals (both face to face and remotely), networking to achieve outcomes and an ability to develop high quality information and resources are also necessary. Experience of delivering work readiness workshops to groups and tailored individual interventions in support of personal skills development would be a great advantage.

The role requires confident communicators with experience track in providing impactful support and training, working in diverse communities across the County. You will have a proactive and dynamic approach, excellent organisation skills, a keen eye for detail combined with the ability to process detailed information, manage relationships, prioritise and multitask.

The project team will work to KPI’s, so flexibility and a “can do” attitude are a must.

Job Description

Spires was established as a response to homelessness in the late 1980s. Initially providing a hot meal, clothing, and advice to those who came for help, Spires has developed into an organization that provides a range of services, including day centre style drop ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working. 

Our core mission is to support homeless people into housing and to assist those who have been homeless in maintaining their accommodation, reducing the risks they face, and increasing their choices. We assess need, create support plans, and provide ongoing key work to empower people to improve their circumstances.

Purpose of Role:

• Support the effective delivery of Spires services across the range of activities provided, 
• Provide casework, support planning, and key working sessions for Spires’ clients.
• Assess and respond to client needs, ensuring high-quality, person-centred support.

Position in Organisation:

Part of the Spires Support Team, reporting to the Head of Clients Services. This is a new position and will work across all of Spires’ services. 

Working Contacts:

• Internal: Collaboration with staff and volunteers, particularly the head of client Services, Service Coordinators, and other support workers.

West Yorkshire Pathfinder Partnership (WYPP) is to be launched as a 12-month pilot, following successful programmes in other UK areas. Staying Put are proud to lead this partnership of 5 exceptional providers of domestic abuse services; Leeds Domestic Violence Service represented by Leeds Women’s Aid and Behind Closed Doors, WomenCentre, Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership and Wakefield Domestic Abuse Service.

We are now looking to set up our team of dedicated and passionate Family Court IDVAs. There are vacancies in Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees for this post, the salary will be the same across the partnership, however the terms and conditions may vary.

You will be employed by one of the above organisations and be based in one location, however there is the need for flexibility and expectation of travel across all areas, at times.

About the role

This role will play a crucial part in supporting individuals, families and children through the family court process as part of the Pathfinder programme. Working as part of a strong multi-agency team across the courts of West Yorkshire, you will ensure the voice of the survivor informs every stage of the process. Using a client-led and trauma-informed approach, this role provides high-quality advocacy support to survivors of domestic abuse.

• Various hours available – Between 15 hours or 22.5 hours (2 or 3 days) Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
• £27,898 – £28,898 FTE per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

As a Peer Mentor you will need to have living experience of mental health difficulties and have gained a level of insight into your mental health experience and be ready to talk about them openly. It is important that applicants have reached a period of stability and can manage their mental health and wellbeing, in order for them to be ready for this role. We are looking for someone who is ready to use their experience to support and inspire service users in their recovery journey. Peer Mentors will support service users on their emotional journey, and form therapeutic alliances to share ways of coping, understanding and nurturing hope and inspirations. 

You will need to have excellent communication skills, with a good understanding of the individual recovery journey and the issues facing people suffering with mental health difficulties. We need a Peer Mentor who is able to share the values of our organisation and is passionate about our vision of “Better Mental Health for All” in Birmingham. 

You will be joining a brand-new team for our newly commissioned service Recovery House. This is an exiting and innovative service for Birmingham Mind and is an opportunity to create a flagship standard of support and care for those in mental health crisis. The service will supply short stay accommodation for people in crisis, for a maximum of 7 nights. Recovery House is a CQC Registered service commissioned by the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust and peer mentors will be part of a multi-disciplinary team made up of Birmingham Mind and NHS Staff.

Role Overview:

The Stories & Content Officer will play a central role in developing and delivering compelling content across social media and digital platforms. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a results-driven social media strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
• Create monthly and quarterly performance reports to measure effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Manage and moderate social media channels, ensuring positive engagement and brand reputation.
• Source, research and write inspiring stories from beneficiaries, stakeholders, and projects.

Person Specification:

• Strong knowledge of content planning, digital storytelling, and social media analytics.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
• Proficiency in using scheduling and reporting tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite).
• Excellent writing and editing skills tailored to audience and channel.
• Working knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and photography and basic video production/editing skills desirable.
• Creative thinker with a flair for visual and narrative storytelling.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

As our client's Youth Engagement Worker, you'll design and deliver engaging programmes that transform lives, helping vulnerable young people build the foundations for independent living and future success.

This job is about unlocking potential. You'll work across their Pathways and Foyer services, creating meaningful activities and workshops for 16–25-year-olds who are developing their independent living skills. Through engaging activities and strong community partnerships, you'll help young people overcome barriers to education, employment, and wellbeing while building the confidence they need to thrive beyond supported housing.

What you'll be doing

• You'll split your 4 days per week between The Foyer (for 18-25 year olds) and Pathways (for 16-21 year olds with medium to high support needs)
• You'll design and deliver structured workshops covering employment, education, independent living skills, wellbeing, and community building
•  You'll work two evenings per week until 7pm, alternating between Thursday free food events at The Foyer and engagement activities at Pathways
• You'll build relationships with partners, employers, charities, and educational institutions to create opportunities for residents
• You'll continue and expand the Youth Power Project, ensuring young people's voices inform services and our client's strategic priorities
• You'll collaborate with the Resident Engagement team to consult with young people on topics affecting their lives
• You'll gather outcome data and use insights to continuously improve your programme offerings
