This is a full-time role in a well-established charity based in Twickenham. This role would suit someone who wants to have the opportunity to work flexibly and build their career in the Charity sector with experience of working in social care.
Richmond Carers Centre has the mission to help unpaid adult carers to live a full, active and meaningful life by providing them with advice, information, activities, breaks and emotional support either face to face, by phone or by email to enable them to live well.
As a Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to adult carers and a commitment to enhancing their health and wellbeing. Much of your work will involve actively listening to carers, often via the phone support line, providing information, advice and support.
As part of the Adult Carers Support Team, you will also be involved in organising breaks for carers, outreach activities and leisure events, as well as group work to help enhance carers’ health and wellbeing. Part of the role will also aim to improve the identification, recognition and understanding of the needs of adult carers, raise the profile of adult carers and ensure adult carers needs are met. You will also be expected to work with our volunteers and to use appropriate monitoring and evaluation reports to show our funders what we have achieved.
You will be someone:

Main Duties include:
- To provide a regular telephone support-line, face-to-face and email support, offering appropriate, generic advice
 - To offer a range of service delivery options and be involved in providing those options e.g., breaks, group work, leisure activities or other outreach activities
 - To encourage and assist carers and those they care for to access Care Needs Assessments and Carers Assessments and to take up services that will enhance their lives
 - To complete individual grant applications with carers for respite or if they are experiencing financial hardship due to the cost-of-living crisis
 - To work where appropriate with other service providers/agencies to promote the carer agenda or jointly deliver carer support issues
 - To be proactive in the registration of carers living or caring for someone within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames
 - To keep accurate records of group and individual carer engagement for monitoring and evaluation purposes
 - To participate in key events organised by Richmond Carers Centre and other relevant partners to promote services to a wider public

We are seeking an enthusiastic, pro-active and highly organised Governance Administrator to support the efficient running of our governance arrangements. In this role, you will coordinate and provide high quality support to our committee programme and other key processes such as our grant funding and abstract competitions at Association conferences.

Role Description
The Safeguarding Officer will lead and oversee all aspects of safeguarding within St Edmundsbury Cathedral, ensuring that the Cathedral remains a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the Cathedral meets all statutory safeguarding obligations and complies fully with the Church of England’s national safeguarding policies, diocesan frameworks, and relevant legislation. This includes proactively identifying potential risks, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, and ensuring effective reporting and case management in partnership with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team and statutory agencies.
Beyond compliance, this role is about embedding a culture of care, accountability, and transparency across the Cathedral community. You will support clergy, staff, and volunteers to understand their safeguarding responsibilities, ensure safer recruitment and training practices, and provide guidance and reassurance when safeguarding issues arise.
By acting as a source of expert advice, leadership, and advocacy, the Safeguarding Officer will help the Cathedral community uphold the highest standards of safety, dignity, and pastoral care, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance, can participate fully and confidently in Cathedral life.
The Cathedral Safeguarding Officer has operational authority within the Cathedral (subject to agreement with the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer with respect to responding to concerns and allegations against Church officers) for the following responsibilities, arranged according to the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards.
These four National Safeguarding Standards provide the framework for effective safeguarding practice across all Church settings:
- Culture, Leadership, and Capacity – Promoting a culture where safeguarding is embedded in every aspect of Cathedral life, ensuring that leaders, clergy, staff, and volunteers model and champion best practice.
 - Prevention – Implementing robust safer recruitment, induction, and training processes, and proactively identifying and mitigating potential safeguarding risks.
 - Responding to Concerns – Ensuring that all concerns, disclosures, and allegations are taken seriously, responded to promptly, and managed in partnership with statutory agencies and the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.
 - Learning, Supervision, and Quality Assurance – Fostering continual improvement through regular review, reflection, and evaluation of safeguarding practice, ensuring accountability and transparency at all levels.
 
Together, these standards guide the Cathedral’s commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and trustworthy environment for all who engage with its worship, ministry, and community life.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
- Act as the Cathedral’s primary safeguarding lead, providing authoritative advice and operational oversight to the Chapter, leadership team, clergy, staff and volunteers.
 - Ensure compliance with national Church of England safeguarding guidance, diocesan requirements and all relevant statutory legislation.
 - Develop, maintain and drive a measurable safeguarding action plan and improvement programme, ensuring policies and practice are implemented consistently across Cathedral activities.
 - Produce clear, timely safeguarding reports and briefings for Chapter and committees translating case and compliance information into strategic recommendations.
 - Actively promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, supporting leaders to embed safeguarding into planning, events, recruitment and everyday practice.
 - Engaging in professional supervision and quality assurance provided by the relevant Regional Safeguarding Lead, and in continual professional development, including ensuring that the requirements of the National Safeguarding Learning and Development Framework for Safeguarding Officers are met.
 
Safer recruitment
- Lead and oversee safer recruitment processes for all paid roles and volunteer positions, ensuring job descriptions, interviews and selection processes assess safeguarding suitability.
 - Support managers to make informed recruitment decisions and ensure all new starters receive safeguarding induction and appropriate supervision.
 
Case management
- Receive, triage and respond to safeguarding concerns and disclosures quickly and sensitively, ensuring the safety and welfare of those involved.
 - Undertake initial risk and needs assessments and make appropriate referrals to statutory agencies and the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.
 - Support and co-ordinate multi-agency responses where required, and follow agreed safeguarding pathways.
 - Provide pastoral support and signposting to victims/survivors while ensuring appropriate boundaries, confidentiality and access to specialist support services.
 - Manage allegations involving staff or volunteers in line with diocesan procedures, ensuring safe working arrangements are put in place while enquiries proceed.
 - Maintain accurate, secure and auditable case records, ensuring all documentation complies with data protection (GDPR) and Cathedral record-keeping protocols
 
Meetings & governance
- Attend safeguarding-related meetings, including the Safeguarding Committee, Guild Committee and Forum, providing briefings, presenting reports and highlighting risks and compliance matters.
 - Prepare agendas, papers and minutes as required; maintain an action log and follow up to ensure agreed actions are completed.
 - Escalate unresolved risks or urgent safeguarding matters to Chapter and senior leadership in a timely and constructive manner.
 - Attend Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DSAP) Meetings.
 
Training & awareness
- Lead on Cathedral safeguarding training, coordinate and deliver induction and refresher training for staff, volunteers, and clergy.
 - Maintain up-to-date records of safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers (showing completion and renewal dates).
 - Create accessible safeguarding information and communications for the Cathedral community (e.g., weekly bulletin items, posters, webpages and event briefings) to raise awareness and reinforce good practice.
 - Provide tailored briefings for high-risk roles and ongoing advice to managers and supervisors on safeguarding responsibilities.
 - To evaluate training to ensure that learnings have been embedded.
 
Policy & risk management
- Review, update and implement the Cathedral’s safeguarding policies and procedures on a regular schedule (and sooner where guidance or case learning requires change).
 - Lead safeguarding risk assessments for services, events, volunteer activities and external bookings; provide straightforward, action-focused mitigation plans for event organisers and hirers.
 - Conduct audits and spot-checks to ensure practice aligns with policy and report findings with recommended improvements.
 - Ensure contractors, partner organisations and hirers meet required safeguarding standards and that any safeguarding responsibilities are set out contractually where appropriate.
 
Additional duties and professional development
- Provide clear, timely advice within agreed working hours and support any out-of-hours arrangements for urgent safeguarding concerns as agreed with Chapter.
 - Maintain your own professional development through training, supervision and membership of relevant safeguarding networks; ensure learning is shared across the Cathedral.
 - Carry out any other reasonable duties that support the effective delivery of safeguarding across the Cathedral.
 - Attend the East Anglia Regional Safeguarding Network meeting three times a year, with other DSOs and CSO in the region
 
Key Relationships
- In the Cathedral, the Dean provides leadership concerning safeguarding, supported by Chapter and senior leadership team requiring good working relationships with both clergy and lay colleagues.
 - It is essential that the CSO forms excellent working relationships with key people in the Diocese, including: the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer (DSO), the safeguarding team and other relevant staff; the chair and membership of diocesan safeguarding governance structures e.g., the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DSAP) and relevant sub-groups; and the National Safeguarding Team.
 - It is essential to have good connections with colleagues in relevant local third sector agencies, including those working in the fields of homelessness, poverty, domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, refugee support, language and learning support, etc. Adults and children who are using, have used or may use the services of the cathedral, particularly in relation to safeguarding.

About the role
The resettlement team provides advice and support for refugees on resettlement and relocation schemes to help them access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. Working closely with local stakeholders and in partnership with other voluntary sector agencies running similar services across the UK, the Refugee Council resettlement team promotes both the integration and independence of this group.
The Refugee Council work in partnership with Migration Yorkshire and Local Authorities across Yorkshire and Humberside to deliver the regional Resettlement programmes including the UK Resettlement Scheme, Afghan resettlement programmes (ARAP and ACRS), VPRS and VCRS. The resettlement team provides advice and support for resettled refugees to help them access services and mainstream provision and establish community links. As part of this, an important aspect of the role will be supporting the development of a coherent discipleship pathway across different age groups within families and children at home, which will be sensitive to key transitional development stages across generations and life experiences. About You

You will preferably have experience in training and project management, and it is essential that you are experienced in children, family and youth ministry. Experience with digital content development and social media would be an advantage.

As our Head of Brand, Communications & Entertainment, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how the nation sees, hears, and connects with Make-A-Wish UK. You’ll lead a talented team of creatives, communicators, and digital experts to build a brand that inspires action, deepens engagement, and drives transformational impact.

You’ll develop and deliver a powerful brand and communications strategy, forge high-impact partnerships with media and entertainment leaders, and ensure our message resonates across every channel and audience. Core Purpose
This leadership role is part of the Make-A-Wish UK Extended Leadership Team (ExLT) and is responsible for shaping and driving Make-A-Wish UK’s brand, communications and entertainment strategy. Ensuring the charity is powerfully positioned in the hearts and minds of the public as an organisation to support and donate to.
 
Leading a team of expert communications, content and digital specialists, the role will champion a strategic and scalable approach to brand, content, and communications. It will ensure our messaging cuts through across all internal and external touchpoints, consistently reflecting our mission to grant a wish for every eligible child.
 
The Head of Brand, Communications and Entertainment will also oversee the strategic development of key entertainment relationships, including celebrity talent, influencers, media partners, and broadcasters, to amplify our brand presence and support wider organisational objectives.
As a key member of the ExLT, this role will collaborate across departments to strengthen Make-A-Wish UK’s profile, build meaningful connections with stakeholders, and inspire audiences to engage with and support our cause.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience (5+ years) within senior level brand role including Head of Department or communications/strategy roles, ideally within the charity or not for profit sector.
 - Demonstrated success in developing and delivering integrated communications strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and support.
 - Proven experience leading organisations through change and successfully embedding new delivery models to improve impact, efficiency, or engagement
 - Knowledge of how to develop a consistent brand voice and style.
 - Ability to conduct market research, competitive analyses and research on potential target audiences.
 - Strong understanding of digital communications, including social media, email marketing, and website content strategy.
 - Experience managing crisis communications and safeguarding organisational reputation.
 - Understanding of how marketing strategies relate to charity and income targets.
 - Expertise in project management and ensuring teams meet timeline and budget objectives
 - Demonstrable experience of leading and managing high-performing teams.
 - Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop others.
 - Ability to pivot between project details and big-picture goals.
 - Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights and data into actionable plans
 - Collaborative mentality and openness to work with different stakeholders, internally & externally.
 - Analytical mindset well-versed in quickly spotting trends
 - Exceptional stakeholder management experience and proven track record of working strategically with media, influencers, and entertainment partners to amplify brand messaging.
 - Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
 - Strong understanding of the charity sector and Make-A-Wish’s mission.
 - Proficiency in analytics and data-driven decision making.
 - Excellent networking and relationship building skills to meet strategic objectives
 
Key Responsibilities
Brand Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of Make-A-Wish UK’s brand strategy, ensuring it reflects our mission, values, and commitment to children and families.
 - Act as brand guardian, maintaining consistency and integrity across all communications and channels, and ensuring alignment with Make-A-Wish International guidelines.
 - Use audience insights and market trends to evolve brand positioning, ensuring it remains relevant, compelling, and inclusive.
 - Champion brand understanding across the organisation, enabling teams, volunteers, and partners to represent Make-A-Wish UK authentically and effectively.
 - Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with media and brand partners, that amplify brand visibility and engagement. Leverage these collaborations to enhance brand equity, reach new audiences, and support long-term brand development goals.
 
Communications Strategy
- Develop and deliver a communications strategy that builds public awareness, deepens understanding of our mission, and inspires support.
 - Lead the creation of impactful campaigns and storytelling that highlight the transformative power of a wish and the voices of children, families, and supporters.
 - Lead on providing expert guidance to teams on integrated communications planning and execution, ensuring alignment across all public-facing activity.
 - Manage crisis communications, safeguarding the charity’s reputation and ensuring clear, compassionate responses.
 - Lead the development of a scalable and strategic framework for the delivery of organisational campaigns including service delivery, volunteering, fundraising and internal communications.
 - Lead the development and implementation of a cohesive internal communications strategy and framework that fosters alignment, engagement, and a strong organisational culture
 
Entertainment & Talent Engagement
- Strategically manage relationships with entertainment partners, influencers, and public figures to amplify our message and support wish granting, fundraising, and events.
 - Oversee entertainment-related activity, working with the team to develop consistent processes and high standards of engagement.
 - Support the Talent Manager to cultivate new strategic partnerships with agencies and representatives to expand opportunities and increase visibility, ensuring alignment with our values and goals.
 
Digital & Media Engagement
- Lead the charity’s digital communications strategy, ensuring a vibrant, engaging presence across all platforms.
 - Oversee the integration of digital marketing to support fundraising, awareness, and community building,
 - Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and partners to maximise positive exposure and advocacy.
 
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide inspiring leadership and development for the Brand, Communications & Entertainment team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
 - Support and role-model cross-functional collaboration, ensuring communications activity aligns with organisational priorities and supports other teams effectively.
 - Represent Brand, Communication and Entertainment at the Extended Leadership Team (ExLT), contributing to cross-charity strategy, insight sharing and project delivery.
 - Represent Make-A-Wish UK and nurture key relationships as required.
 
Measurement & Insight
- Work with the Head of Insights and Innovation to develop and apply insights to inform strategic planning.
 - Define and track key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of brand and communications activity, presenting to the senior Leadership Team and Board as required.
 - Capture and report on data and learnings, embedding continuous improvement and sharing best practice across the organisation.
