Role title: Collection volunteer Braehead Shopping Centre, Renfrewshire 

Time commitment: 2 - 4 hours a day

What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic, creative and organised people to be an NSPCC Collection Volunteer in your local community. Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn't continue doing what we do without them. That means, our collection volunteers play a important part in rallying people together to raise vital funds which help to protect children and prevent abuse.

What you'll do

You'll be working together with the rest of the team to raise awareness and funds. you'll be collecting for the vital work the NSPCC does, engaging with the public- promoting a positive image for the NSPCC!

We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle.

• Distribute collection boxes to locations such as cafes, shops, bars, restaurants and small businesses in your local area
• Replace full boxes, counting and banking funds, liaising with your local community team and organising receipts and thank you cards for supporters
• Represent NSPCC in a professional manner
• Share news about our work in the local community and help promote fundraising events and initiatives

What you'll get

We'll support you with advice, skills and tools to help you fundraise and spread the word about the NSPCC. You'll be given a designated point of contact and we'll cover reasonable mileage expenses. You'll learn more about how you're helping to protect children in your local area and across the UK. 

It's also a chance to spend time with like-minded people and make new friends.

We want to increase the number of volunteers in Cranleigh and Woking areas as well as Guildford, Successful candidates would be expected to attend at least one training night per month at Guildford from 20:00 for 2 hours.

Interviews will be conducted at Guildford. Please bring documents for an ID Check.

Online learning will be required before a 2 day course will be taking place at the weekend in January

You will need to attend a Community First Aid course - 2 Days (Typically a Weekend) delivered at Pegasus House in Leicester.

Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's.

In Winchester, the group is a core part of the local Parkinson's community. As a committee volunteer you'll help connect people to the group, whilst making sure existing members stay up to date with the activities provided. You could have a hand in arranging activities too, whether it's seated yoga, or a chance for friends and family of those living with Parkinson's to meet - and all activities are open to you too.

You'll build existing connections, and meet new people in your local area, all whilst making a difference to those living with Parkinson's in Winchester.

Romsey charity looking for volunteer Trustees – do you have some time to spare to support this long-established and well-known local cancer support charity?

Romsey Cancer Support Centre (Jane Scarth House and Jane’s Charity Shop) is looking to appoint two Trustees. Role 1: 'Mile with a Mascot’ Event Volunteer

• Volunteer time: Around 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM
• Event time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Location: Along the event route

What you’ll be doing:

• Helping to guide and cheer on participants
• Bringing energy and encouragement along the route
• Chatting with families and interacting with our mascots
• We also need one volunteer to dress up as Alex the Acorn – you can either walk the mile or stay in one spot to wave and cheer

Role 2: Match Day Collection Volunteer – Walsall FC

• Volunteer time: Around 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
• Event: Walsall FC v Tranmere Rovers (Kick-off 3:00 PM)

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting our fundraising team with bucket collections
• Helping at the Acorns Tombola Stand
• One volunteer will be needed to dress up as Alex the Acorn again

We’ll provide a match ticket, water, and free car parking

Volunteer Walsall FC Match Day Takeover - 20th September

On Sunday 7 September, we'll once again be cheering on our team of amazing Team Mencap runners as they take on the Great North Run 2025. For this, we'll have a cheer point on route to encourage, support, and thank our runners. The Great North Run is one of Mencap's big fundraising running events and we want to give our Team Mencap runners as much support as possible by having a big cheer point on route. Showing support is so important to runners and your enthusiasm and energy will encourage our runners all the way to the finish line.

We'll provide you with full details and a brief ahead of event day, including how to get there, what to wear, and what to bring, but here is all the key information you need to know right now:

What: The Great North Run 2025

Date: Sunday 7 September 2025

Time: 10:30am to approx 2:00pm

Our events are vital to Mencap, bringing people together to share experiences, launch programmes and celebrate successes! They also often help to raise funds for our services, such as the Mencap Direct helpline, advocacy services, and national campaigns such as Treat me Well.

We hold lots of events throughout the year, including bike rides and runs from 10km all the way up to Marathons. We also do art showings, bucket collections, garden parties, Christmas wrapping sessions, and lots more!

You'll be part of a diverse and inclusive team alongside volunteers with and without a learning disability. You will represent Mencap and help to promote our work and raise awareness for people with a learning disability at iconic events across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Your role will be to support our Community Fundraising team at the festival, taking on the running of engagement activities, chatting with the public and promoting a positive image of the NSPCC.
You’ll be a valued part of one of our Volunteer Community Fundraising Teams across the UK, raising awareness and funds. We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle. You only need to commit to a couple of hours a month in the run up to the event, the festival period itself but if you want to do more that would be great.
