The charity’s mission is to offer support, community and education to improve the lives of those with alopecia.

We are seeking talented trustees to strengthen our strategic leadership and support smooth succession as current trustees reach the end of their terms. This is an ongoing recruitment process, and we welcome applications at any time, particularly from those with expertise in the following areas:

• Charity fundraising: Leadership in a fundraising environment, ideally within the charity sector.
• Communications & Marketing: Senior communications or marketing role, with strong audience engagement insight.
• Legal: Experience providing legal advice at a senior level, preferably with charity or governance exposure.
• Dermatology in the NHS: Experience of treating patients with alopecia, with a deep knowledge of clinical pathways and related challenges in primary and secondary care.

About Alopecia UK

Founded in 2004, we work to help adults, young people and children affected by alopecia. This includes those with alopecia, as well as their loved ones. We are a small charity, with an annual income under £500,000, working nationally across the UK. Despite being small, we are the largest alopecia charity in the UK and have big ambitions to continue our growth and development, reaching more people than ever before. We agreed a new strategy in May 2025, and are committed to our key goal, which is to increase our reach, particularly in the communities that haven’t yet found us.

We have a fantastic and dedicated staff team (5.4 FTE) and board of Trustees. We also rely upon the generosity of volunteers, many of whom have personal experience of alopecia themselves. Alopecia UK receives no statutory funding from the government and is funded by community fundraising, donations, funding grants, and corporate partnerships.

The Alopecia UK Trustee Board are a group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to Alopecia’s aims.

The Trustee Board meets four times a year (two face-to-face meetings and two virtual meetings). Face-to-face meetings tend to be held on Saturdays from approximately 10am-4pm. Virtual meetings tend to be held midweek from approximately 6.30-8.30pm.

Trustees are encouraged to participate in charity campaigns and attend flagship events, e.g., our Big Weekend and Alton Towers trip. Trustees are not paid, but out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. Trustees serve at least three years
 

We’re looking for detail-orientated, proactive people who’d like to use their research or writing skills to help strengthen our funding applications and impact reporting.

As a Research and Bid Support Volunteer, you’ll help identify funding opportunities, gather data and evidence, and support the preparation of grant proposals. You’ll also assist with compiling feedback and monitoring information that helps us demonstrate the difference our work makes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, analysis and writing and wants to gain experience in how charities develop projects and secure funding.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Researching grant opportunities that align with our programmes and priorities
• Helping gather data, statistics and community evidence to support funding applications
• Reviewing funder guidelines and eligibility criteria

What will you be doing?

We are looking to expand the range of expertise and experience of our Board and are looking to recruit additional Trustees.

This is a great opportunity to develop further governance skills and experience, and help steer an important charity in the right direction

Trustees meetings are usually held every six weeks, plus there is an AGM, away days, and any sub-committee meetings that trustees may be involved in. Most meetings will remain virtual but there will from time to time be a need to attend key meetings and events in Nottingham. The time commitment is approximately 4 hours per month, but there may be occasions when more time is required for a short period.

Trustee positions are unremunerated, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Self Help UK is a leading peer support organisation with over 40 years of experience in developing and delivering peer-led services. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities by embedding peer support principles into health and wellbeing initiatives. Role title: Collection volunteer Braehead Shopping Centre, Renfrewshire

What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic, creative and organised people to be an NSPCC Collection Volunteer in your local community. Around 90 per cent of our income comes from our supporters and we couldn't continue doing what we do without them. That means, our collection volunteers play a important part in rallying people together to raise vital funds which help to protect children and prevent abuse.

What you'll do

You'll be working together with the rest of the team to raise awareness and funds. you'll be collecting for the vital work the NSPCC does, engaging with the public- promoting a positive image for the NSPCC!

We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle.

• Distribute collection boxes to locations such as cafes, shops, bars, restaurants and small businesses in your local area
• Replace full boxes, counting and banking funds, liaising with your local community team and organising receipts and thank you cards for supporters
• Represent NSPCC in a professional manner
• Share news about our work in the local community and help promote fundraising events and initiatives

What you'll get

We'll support you with advice, skills and tools to help you fundraise and spread the word about the NSPCC. You'll be given a designated point of contact and we'll cover reasonable mileage expenses. Role Summary: 

We’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join our event support team. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key part in creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for our guests. Tasks may include welcoming and directing attendees, assisting with registration and seating, supporting activity areas (such as the casino, photo booth, or auctions), and providing general help throughout the evening.

Key Responsibilities
 
 Welcome guests on arrival with a friendly and professional approach.

 Provide general event information and answer basic guest queries.

As a Annual Ball Volunteer you will complete the following training:

• Teesside Hospice mandatory training
• Volunteer induction training
• Any other training identified as appropriate to the role

Trustee needed for Faith in Action Homelessness Project. We are seeking a Trustee to join our committed Board working to end homelessness in Merton.

About Us: FiA runs a twice weekly drop in for homeless and vulnerably housed people and a Winter Night Shelter which works in collaboration with faith groups including a Mosque, a Synagogue, a Hindu Temple and Christian churches to provide overnight accommodation and support to find long term housing solutions.

Our Small Team consists of a Manager, a Winter nightshelter co-ordinator and seven part time staff.  The Trustee team is a very hands on group - many are volunteers at the night shelter or drop in and it is a very committed and passionate team.

We are looking for three new trustees to make our board up to 12.

This role involves more than just attending meetings.  We are responsible for:
