Volunteering at Memory Walk is an incredible experience. You and hundreds of others across the country will help us to run 12 inspiring walks that raise vital funds, providing help and hope to people affected by dementia. Memory Walks simply couldn't happen without incredible volunteers, and we do our best to make it a day to remember. 

There are three roles to choose from when volunteering at a Memory Walk:

• Event Site - Volunteer roles include selling merchandise and handing out medals at the finish line.
• Route Marshal - Route volunteers are essential to guide walkers and keep enthusiasm high. All route marshals will be paired, so you'll never be alone on the route.
• Back Markers - Back markers have the unique advantage of walking the whole route alongside our participants, taking down route signage and releasing route marshals along the way.

You can expect:

• A fantastic day outdoors in your local community. 
• A face-to-face briefing from the Events Team before the event starts where you'll chat through your role for the day. There'll be plenty of time to ask any questions you may have.
• A chance to explore the event site and hang a tag on the Memory Walk Memory Tree in honour of your loved ones.
• Satisfaction, knowing that you're helping to raise vital funds and providing help and hope to people affected by dementia. 
• Volunteer arrival time is typically 8:45am.
• You’ll need to be able to commit to around 6 hours of volunteering at the event. Don’t worry if you can’t stick around for the whole day, just make sure to get in touch with us to let us know your availability.

We are seeking a passionate, community-minded charity outreach worker to support Community Care Initiative projects and partners initiatives. This role will be key in expanding our reach across Milton Keynes, supporting youth engagement, and helping to deliver life skills sessions, digital workshops, and community events.

The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, able to build trust with local communities, coordinate with volunteers, and support the smooth delivery of grassroots programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Outreach

• Represent the partnership at local events, schools, and community centres
• Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and young people
• Promote awareness of available programs, workshops, and volunteering opportunities
• Conduct outreach visits and assist with registration and signposting of beneficiaries

Program Support

• Assist in the planning and delivery of life skills and digital skills sessions
• Support facilitators during events, workshops, and drop-in days
• Gather feedback from participants to improve future service delivery
• Monitor attendance and engagement levels at outreach activities

Volunteer & Partnership Coordination

• Help onboard new volunteers and support their engagement
• Liaise with CCI teams and partners to ensure seamless coordination
• Maintain strong communication across all stakeholders involved in joint activities

Reporting & Communication

• Log key outreach activities, conversations, and community feedback
• Assist with monthly progress updates to highlight outreach success and needs
• Share ideas for improving outreach strategy and event engagement

Person Specification

Essential

• Passion for community development, youth empowerment, or charitable work
• Friendly, approachable, and confident engaging with diverse groups
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends

Desirable

• Previous experience in outreach, community work, or volunteering
• Knowledge of local community dynamics in Milton Keynes or similar areas
• Experience supporting events or group workshops
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity, especially in working with African or diaspora communities

We are looking for new members to join our clinical team in Derbyshire South to support at local community events.

Volunteers will be required to undertake 2 days of face-to-face training for their role in addition to online learning modules. Meetings with the Network team take place on Monday and Thursday evenings, some available online.

We are looking to run a volunteering selection session on: Sunday 9th or Sunday 23rd November, Inductions will take place after the interviews. 

Face-to-face training for role will take place in Derby on 17th & 18th January 2026. You must be able to attend both days. Online learning can be done in your own time prior to the course.

Romsey charity looking for volunteer Trustees – do you have some time to spare to support this long-established and well-known local cancer support charity?

Romsey Cancer Support Centre (Jane Scarth House and Jane’s Charity Shop) is looking to appoint two Trustees. Applications from people with experience in finance and fundraising are specifically welcomed. Are you someone who cares deeply about your community? Do you agree that by sharing first aid skills and advice we can create a safer and more resilient community? If so, then becoming a Community First Aider might be the role for you! While observing activity at an event through regular patrols, you could be involved in anything from providing first aid advice to providing lifesaving skills for a patient until the emergency services arrive. Your actions can save lives. Whether it's a minor injury or a serious emergency, your skills will be the difference between panic and relief.

If you become a Community First Aider with Cheshire East, we would love to see you at our monthly meetings in Holmes Chapel. There are also additional training sessions and meetings which will be organised and communicated on an ad-hoc basis. Once your selection and screening has been completed, you will be invited to attend 2 days of in-person training (as well as 10 hours of pre-course e-learning).

We will host a selection and interview evening at our St John Ambulance Crewe building in the week commencing 28th July (specific date and time tbc). At this event, we will run short informal interviews, conduct a Right to Volunteer ID check and demonstrate life-saving skills.

Once screening has been completed to become a Community First Aider with St John Ambulance, we will book you onto a 2-day locally led training course in Cheshire East. Upon completion of this training, we will welcome you to the organisation with an induction session where you will learn all about St John Ambulance and everything you need to know to volunteer with us!

Once your pre-volunteering checks have been completed you will join our friendly team of volunteers and start your induction into the St John family. Whilst we have a great induction pack you will also be assigned a buddy who will be able to answer any questions you have and provide support until you are confident in your new role.

On Sunday 7 September, we'll once again be cheering on our team of amazing Team Mencap runners as they take on the Great North Run 2025. For this, we'll have a cheer point on route to encourage, support, and thank our runners. The Great North Run is one of Mencap's big fundraising running events and we want to give our Team Mencap runners as much support as possible by having a big cheer point on route. Showing support is so important to runners and your enthusiasm and energy will encourage our runners all the way to the finish line.

Our events are vital to Mencap, bringing people together to share experiences, launch programmes and celebrate successes! They also often help to raise funds for our services, such as the Mencap Direct helpline, advocacy services, and national campaigns such as Treat me Well.

We hold lots of events throughout the year, including bike rides and runs from 10km all the way up to Marathons. We also do art showings, bucket collections, garden parties, Christmas wrapping sessions, and lots more!

You'll be part of a diverse and inclusive team alongside volunteers with and without a learning disability. You will represent Mencap and help to promote our work and raise awareness for people with a learning disability at iconic events across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
