Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) is a UK-registered charity (1081455) offering funding (Awards), training and media profile to inspiring leaders of wildlife conservation projects across the Global South. We support pragmatic, sustainable, and long-lasting work rooted in science and community involvement. The charity funds projects directly and we remain in regular contact with Award winners (grantees). Our funding is raised each year, mainly from family foundations and trusts, as well as from individuals, corporates, and international NGOs, with a current annual income of £2.6m/year. WFN is governed by a committed trustee board. Our team is dynamic, passionate about our mission and ambitious. The opportunity

Established in 1993, we have channelled £23 million to 220 conservation leaders in 80 countries across the Global South, benefitting wildlife, landscapes, and people. We are now seeking to expand the team in line with our activities by recruiting a Communications Assistant to maintain and grow the organisation’s online communications across digital and social media platforms and support the team with office administration and event organisation. The post-holder should be keen to make a difference by working in a small team across an impactful organisation. They should have demonstratable skills in online communications and audience engagement, knowledge of wildlife conservation issues, experience with event organisation and the ability to support a vibrant team to flourish. The Communications Assistant will report to The Head of Communications with matrix management to the Operations Manager, dividing their time by working on communications 3 days p/w and office administration and charity events 2 days p/w. Main purpose of the post
We are seeking to appoint a Bids Manager with experience in managing the development and submissions process for successful research bids, to be part of a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will lead the process for preparing high-value bids, including drafting sections of the narrative and reviewing budgets, and be responsible for building central resources to improve and facilitate effective business development operations. This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders and skilfully managing competing priorities, personalities, and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude, who will enjoy learning about RUSI’s research areas and building stronger systems and processes to help us to make Business Development more efficient and successful.
Key tasks

For UK Government, US Government, EU and Canadian Government bids, and bids over £100,000 value to RUSI:
-
End-to-end project management of high-quality bids, including tender responses, funding applications and requests to participate.
-
Manage internal and external communications to ensure that the RUSI team, and partners, are aware of evaluation criteria, key themes, deadlines, and other critical information. Agree roles, responsibilities and timelines between key stakeholders.
-
Compile and arrange high-quality and compelling bid language working with subject matter experts, draft responses to institutional questions, and offer quality assurance ahead of submission.
-
Review project budgets to be signed off by RUSI’s COO, ensuring that they are prepared consistently and in line with RUSI policies and funder requirements, working with RUSI research teams to achieve this.

Serve as the institutional point of contact for the key funders listed above – attend Early Market Engagements/supplier events, funder events, webinars, to ensure you are up to date on their priorities and RUSI is competitive with our bids. Maintain a centralised database and disseminate up-to-date information on each funder’s practices, key dates, preferences, upcoming opportunities etc.

For all other bids, review budgets for accuracy, competitiveness and to ensure costs are in line with RUSI’s policies and previous submissions, and, once finalised, seek approval from the COO.

Work with the Director for Research Business Development, Research Directors and the Deputy Director General to identify and cultivate new relationships within each of the key funders, ensuring that we have good awareness of upcoming plans, expectations and priorities.

Facilitate links to partner organisations (primes) and build and manage consortia-based relationships to ensure we have oversight of upcoming opportunities and are able to negotiate successful partnerships.

Ensure use of best practice across research groups in our approach to bids and budgets, and that key documents, outcomes, research impact, and decisions are saved centrally for future use.

With support from the BD team, develop and execute a plan to inform, train and mentor research and central services colleagues on best practice for bids, including a focus on wider business awareness.

Respond to due diligence requests received by RUSI from research funders, ensure we have a central database of up-to-date policies and documents required to respond successfully and quickly.

Work with the Business Development team to build organisational systems and processes for effective BD, collaborate with BD colleagues to share feedback and ideas, support each other, and develop central projects to improve BD across the organisation.

Attend Business Development meetings with research groups and build strong relationships with project managers and project officers, capturing feedback and seeking input to BD processes and practices.

Manage the process for new funder approvals with the Deputy Director General.

Be a member of RUSI’s Research Committee and report on bid statuses and other relevant information when needed.

In support of Mercy Corps’ mission, the global Corporate and Foundation Partnerships team manages Mercy Corps’ fundraising relationships with major global companies and foundations. The Position
The Communications Officer, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships will focus on two key workstreams: 1) Implementing the communications and profile-raising strategy for the Development team’s $250M Climate: Possible global campaign and 2) Communications projects supporting European corporate and foundation partners. Working closely with the Communications Director, Global Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, and the Senior Director of Development in Europe, this position will coordinate across internal teams, including fundraising relationship managers and communications and marketing team members, and liaise directly with external partners.
Essential Responsibilities
CLIMATE: POSSIBLE COMMUNICATIONS & PROFILE-STRATEGY SUPPORT (60%)
●Support the execution of the Climate: Possible communications plan, including managing the creation of thought leadership deliverables, developing written and other creative content, and coordinating internal reviews.
●Create an editorial calendar, develop and track an ongoing stream of content for executive and agency social media channels that highlights Mercy Corps’ expertise in climate adaptation programming.
●Event support, including developing briefing documents, talking points, invitation copy, and social media promotion for external climate conferences and events and Mercy Corps-organised corporate and foundation partnership events.
●Create new deliverables and update the existing suite of Climate: Possible marketing materials, as needed.
GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR CORPORATE & FOUNDATION AUDIENCES (35%)
●Contribute to the development and implementation of multi-channel profile-raising strategies in support of the European strategic plan. Contribute to the profile and influence strategy to raise Mercy Corps’ profile with key corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
●Manage emergency response coordination for the Global Corporate and Foundation Partnership teams in partnership with the Global Sr. Communications Officer. Write emergency response communications (creating and sourcing content from internal teams), including email solicitations and updates, and help create donor deliverables, including decks and webinars to support emergency response fundraising amongst Corporate and Foundation partners.
●Source, transform, and create content into compelling Corporate and Foundation audience-specific products, including emails, blog and social posts, pitch decks, fact sheets, and videos.
●Serve as the communications lead, in partnership with corporate relationship managers, for corporate co-fundraising opportunities and submission prizes and competitions.
●Support strategic employee communications efforts for top European corporate partners in partnership with the Employee Engagement Officer.
●Monitor social media accounts of key Corporate and Foundation partners, and draft suggested posts for executive or agency engagement.

- Develop and maintain internal documents to track communications projects and evaluate and prioritise communications opportunities with partners.

The Renewal Programme is a thriving community development charity that relies heavily on volunteers for the successful delivery of our varied projects. With over 100 active volunteers per year, we are looking for an experienced Volunteer Coordinator to fill a 12-month maternity cover role. This post is crucial to our mission, focusing on the development, growth, and delivery of our vital volunteer program. Your role will directly impact our community, enabling us to provide rewarding and high-quality experiences for our incredible volunteers and further our reach and positive change in Newham.
As a central figure in our varied community development work, you will lead on harnessing the power of volunteering. Your responsibilities will span across implementing effective volunteer management strategies, enhancing volunteer engagement and recognition, and fostering strong community partnerships.
You will be a dynamic individual with strong leadership and organisational skills, a passion for volunteering, and a proven track record in volunteer management. You will need to be self-motivated, capable of working both independently and as part of a team, and committed to our values of dignity, inclusion, collaboration, and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Volunteer Program Development: Implementing strategies aligned with our goals, maintaining policies for effective management, and collaborating across departments to identify and fulfill volunteer needs.
Recruitment and Onboarding: Crafting clear volunteer roles, developing diverse recruitment strategies, and ensuring a robust onboarding process to integrate volunteers into their roles effectively.
Training and Development: Supporting training programs to equip volunteers with necessary skills, providing ongoing support, and collaborating with external organizations for additional training opportunities.
Engagement and Recognition: Developing strategies to boost volunteer motivation, organising events to foster a sense of belonging, and maintaining communication to keep volunteers informed and appreciated.
Data Management: Utilizing our database to track volunteer information and impact, ensuring data protection compliance, and generating reports to monitor program performance.

About the Role:
In this role, you will lead a team of 4 people to build strategic relationships with trusts new to WaterAid, as well as provide first-class stewardship to develop existing partnerships in the UK and Europe.
You'll also:
- Support your fellow Senior Managers to build a sustainable pipeline of new business prospects and streamline stewardship activities across the team.
- Work with the wider Philanthropy and Trusts team, and International Programmes Department to build compelling proposals and reports.
- Champion a collaborative and effective team culture, where learning is shared and diversity is celebrated.
- Develop a deep knowledge of WaterAid's programmatic activities and advocacy priorities, growing and leveraging influential relationships internally and externally to benefit trust partnerships.
- Collaborate with colleagues in-country and across WaterAid to prepare and deliver high-quality funding information on complex restricted projects and strategic objectives including complicated budgets and bespoke log frames and KPIs, in line with donor requirements.
- Work with a range of internal and external contacts to identify, cultivate and manage prospective partnerships and existing relationships across all appropriate levels, including CEO's, Directors or Trustees.
- Manage risks across the Trusts sub team by following internal governance procedures, including where relevant SMT briefings, working with media/PR/internal audit/compliance to flag risks and manage mitigation strategies.
About You:
- Demonstrable track record in managing a successful trust and foundation income stream, ensuring team performance indicators and income targets are met.
- Proven ability to personally manage a successful trust and foundation portfolio raising funds from existing and new supporters (£500k+).
- Confidence in representing WaterAid externally at events, conferences and developing co-creation opportunities.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
