As the Head of Philanthropy, Asia you will be responsible for growing our major gifts programme in the Asia-Pacific region. The focus will be on increasing six figure + (GBP) giving through the University of Birmingham Hong Kong Foundation, and from the wider region. Most of our warm donors are based in Malaysia and Hong Kong but there is an active community of alumni in Singapore and scoping to be done across Asia to drive the next phase of our strategy forward beyond alumni donors and to build on a recent seven figure donation as a catalyst for further giving.
As a University we established our Hong Kong Foundation in 2019 and giving is off to a strong start. Continuing on this trajectory you will work to make it financially sustainable, aiming to have multi-year commitments lined up. You will steer and develop the Foundation’s volunteer Board of Directors, increasing giving from their networks, and working with them to distribute funds to programmes at the University that will also benefit Hong Kong.
As a senior fundraiser in DARO, you will be expected to be innovative, self-motivated, and to take ownership of fundraising in this region. As part of a dynamic team and led by some of the most respected names in higher education fundraising, you will work across the University to generate gifts to key philanthropic projects and encourage new donors to make significant gifts. You will also have the opportunity to work with the senior leadership across the University to travel, drive income and develop innovative funding proposals for the region.

Working location: mostly remote work with some travel required. Who we're looking for
Full training will be provided under the guidance of our dedicated Training Officer. Our induction program has been developed to equip caseworkers with the skills they need to provide high quality support to road victims and covers topics such as being trauma-informed, safeguarding and risk management. We're open to candidates from all sorts of backgrounds, as long as you're a compassionate, self-starter with a background in providing high-quality emotional support and advocacy. Your experience in roles within the NHS, any health and social care, road safety, counselling, lived experience or any type of casework could make you an ideal candidate.
Essential Requirements:
- A full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (travel expenses are reimbursed)
- Resident in the Surrey or Hapshire area.
- Experience delivering frontline support, preferably involving sudden bereavement or heightened vulnerabilities.
· Strong advocacy and research skills to liaise with multiple organisations on behalf of service users.
- Competency in I.T skills to work remotely.

The Finance Officer will work within the Finance Department to provide essential day today financial processing, support and advice. The post-holder will be a key member of the team in keeping accurate and up to date records of the organisations financial activities on both the accounting system & associated files.

Key Responsibilities
- Creation and maintenance of processes and systems to ensure the smooth running of the finance function including adding new suppliers and customers to the system
- To be responsible for keeping up to date and accurate records of financial transactions on Excel and the accounting system
- To raise and issue sales invoices, follow up outstanding invoices and resolve any issues.
- To liaise with suppliers and creditors to maintain relationships as part of cash flow management.
- To check and reconcile purchase invoices ready for payment, to investigate and resolve any issues.
- To be responsible for the petty cash system in line with the organisations Financial Procedures.
- To manage the purchase order process ensuring compliance in line with policy.
- To complete regular bank, Petty cash and credit card reconciliations.
- To oversee the credit card processing, ensuring security at all times.
- To ensure all contracts/agreements are central filed and updated on the database.
- To report to statutory bodies such as Entrust
- To support the Director of Finance with the production of finance reports to senior managers on a monthly basis relating to income & expenditure
- To support with the processing of direct debits for membership donations
- To support with ad hoc tasks as the trust requires
- To support the preparation for the annual audit, e.g. stock take reconciliation, fixed asset records, Charity Commission and Companies House checks.
- To run the payroll reports and send to the Director of Finance for review and approval
- Undertake other duties as requested by line manager that contribute to Trust strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership

Supported Living Operations
- Ensure the delivery of measurable and high performing supported living services. Manage and drive improvements in the performance and quality of all services by setting clear objectives, targets and KPIs, evidence regular monitoring and implementation of actions to address under performance.
- Ensure all supported living services meet or exceed regulatory standards (e.g. CQC or equivalent) and internal quality benchmarks.
- Develop and implement systems to measure and report on service outcomes and impact.
- Lead on contract negotiations with funding bodies and across the region to maximise income for the delivery of supported living services.
- Ensure services are co-produced and that co-production is central to the work of the supported living teams and services are delivered in line with the ‘I-statements’.
- Through the Theory of Change, develop a clear model of active support that enables independence and clarity of needs led provision.
People We Support Advocacy
- Promote a person-centred approach, ensuring that people we support have choice, control, and opportunities to achieve their Life of Opportunity aspirations.
- Establish systems for gathering and responding to feedback from those supported and their families.

Housing Management

Strategy Implementation, planning, budgeting, and reporting
- Contribution to and implementation of the approved strategies and tactical plans that support the delivery of a Brilliant Future (e.g. Older People, Community Development, Stakeholder Engagement) .
- Develop and manage a significant and comprehensive operational annual budget and set of KPIs in line with income constraints and create evaluation & monitoring systems that drive value for money and agreed delivery objectives.
- Develop and manage budgets for supported living services, ensuring financial sustainability recognising that the Charity does not fundraise for statutory provision.
- Monitor and control expenditure, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Provide monthly insights, performance reports and analysis using proportionate systems appropriate to different audiences and including Executive, Board of Trustees and Trust strategic documents (such as Annual Report and Impact Reporting).
- Ensure contracts are approved and in place for the delivery of all commissioned services.
- Ensure the service procures goods and services in line with the established governance frameworks in place at the Charity.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead on the development and maintenance of purposeful operational relationships with key stakeholders within the region including funders, commissioners, health services and other partners.
- Work with stakeholders to develop and transform services to meet evolving needs of the local community.
- Support fundraising activity by providing impact reporting as required by the fundraising team and our supporters and local development of volunteering programmes that add value to the unique services of the trust.
- Build meaningful relationships with families in a way that is transparent and aligned to good practise and safeguarding/MCA principles.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of adults with learning disabilities within local and national forums.
- Represent the charity at key events, meetings, and networks.
- Identify and pursue relevant funding opportunities including grants, contracts and partnerships ensuring that key stakeholders are informed and aware of relevant opportunities.
Transformation and Change
- Contribute to, and support, the Theory of Change development of the current model for delivery of supported living
- Lead the services across the region through transformational leadership and collaborative implementation of the new model for supported living
Governance, Regulation and EDIB
- Ensure that all supported living activities adhere to charity and housing legislation and meet contractual obligations
- Ensure supported living services comply with the regulatory requirements of the Care Quality Commission.
- Represent the charity internally and externally, including Trustee meetings, as required.
- Observe and comply with all Camphill Village Trust policies, including the key policies and procedures on Confidentiality, Data Protection, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Information Technology Policies and Procedures.

The Role
The Finance & Operations Coordinator is a central position in a small, purpose-driven team. The role provides direct support to the Managing Director and works closely with the Finance Committee to ensure that the charity’s financial and operational systems are well managed, compliant and effective.

The Talking Space service operates from 1pm to 9pm four days a week throughout the year.
We operate one of our Talking Space services in the vibrant Jewellery Quarter, close to the city centre. Our Talking Space service provides a safe and welcoming environment for individuals aged 18+ living in Birmingham or Solihull who are experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis. We offer 1-to-1 appointments and drop-in support across four sites in the city (Selly Oak, Erdington, Jewellery Quarter, and Northfield). We actively listen and offer a range of referral and signposting options.
The service functions as an alternative to A&E as part of the urgent care pathway.
We now have an exciting opportunity for an empathetic and experienced leader to join our team and support the effective delivery of the Talking Space service, with a particular focus on young adults aged 18–25. You will develop engaging activities and groups that appeal to young people, helping them reach their full potential. With strong knowledge of mental wellbeing, you will work confidently within confidentiality frameworks and ensure accurate completion of all relevant documentation.
You will communicate in a style appropriate to your audience, demonstrating compassion and a non-judgmental approach toward individuals experiencing psychological distress. As Team Leader, you will provide support and supervision to the staff team, identify training needs, and complete annual appraisals. You will feel confident challenging discriminatory or disrespectful behaviour while maintaining high standards and ensuring the team upholds the same level of quality.
You may occasionally be required to work across all Talking Space sites.
We are also exploring opportunities to extend our service to support young people aged 16–18 soon.
