We’re looking for a number of Community Connectors over the age of 18 years old, based across various locations in Wales.
You’ll be volunteering: A minimum of 10 hours per month, Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm.
The volunteers could be:
- Providing a valuable support to our teams based within the region.
- Build relationships with people, and organisations to raise awareness of stroke and the Stroke Association.
- Engaging with your local community to represent the Stroke Association, this could include hosting an information stand at local face events.
- Sharing your knowledge and experience of stroke to others.
- Researching and gathering information relating to life after stroke services.
- Attending fundraising events, including donation collections.
*Whilst we would be delighted if you could perform all of these tasks, we will be happy to accept enquiries from you if you can provide suitable selective support.

Across the UK, our Regional and Community Development teams work alongside our local groups to play an active role in increasing awareness of and engagement with the MS Society locally.
As our Regional Cultural Connector Volunteer, you’ll help to identify and plan our involvement and support of regional or local activities and events aimed at minority, hidden and culturally specific groups, to provide information for people living with MS as well as help us to engage with those communities to understand their priorities and needs.
We want to show that we’re here to support everyone and to do that we need to reach and connect with people within their own communities. You’ll help us do that with a welcoming and friendly attitude and ability to reach and promote us within your region.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills.
About you
Confidence in speaking to new people, networking skills and the ability to influence would be fantastic. We would work to your strengths, however and some training will be available.

Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects
Fundraising Heroes
Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
Administrators
Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.
The skills you need
- Friendly and approachable people.
- Confident people who feel happy to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and
- SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
- Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep information safely.
- Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.

About the role
Do you enjoy meeting people, offering a listening ear, and helping others feel more connected to their community? We’re looking for enthusiastic Volunteer Befrienders who can give around 1 hour a week to support adults living with mental health challenges across Ware, Hertford, Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Cuffley, and Waltham Cross.
As a Volunteer Befriender, you’ll:
- Meet with people in the community at times and places that suit their needs (this may occasionally include evenings or weekends).
- Provide emotional support, drawing on your own lived experience.
- Encourage people to build social connections and get involved in local activities.
- Act as a “community connector” by signposting people to services and opportunities.
Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.
About the service
Our Hertfordshire befriending service supports adults (18+) who are living with mental health challenges and are known to mental health services. The service helps people feel less isolated, more confident, and more connected to their local communities.
What will make you a great fit for this role?
- Lived experience of mental health (your own or as a carer)
- Good listening and communication skills
- A flexible, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach
It’s not essential, but you may also bring:
- Knowledge of local services and community resources
- Familiarity with the Hertfordshire area
- A commitment to supporting people in their recovery journey

We’re building a movement of people who believe giving should be simple, human and direct. Our volunteers are at the heart of that.
We don’t care about age, background, or whether you’ve got a perfect CV.
We care about people who want to be part of a team, learn, and create real impact together.
All roles are 5–10 hours a month, minimum 3 months. You’ll be supported by the Volunteer Manager and the wider Unify Giving team.

You’ll build bridges between Unify Giving and grassroots charities. This means meeting people, listening to what’s needed, and helping bring them into our network.
