We are looking for an Engagement Manager (East of England) to join us on a fixed term contract, for 12-months, to cover maternity leave.
About the role
The key purpose of the Engagement Manager role is to deliver regional Sight Loss Councils across the East of England and to engage with blind and partially sighted people across the region. We currently have two Sight Loss Councils (SLCs) in this region, so the postholder will be expected to care-take and develop both SLCs, focusing on the retention of the volunteers engaged and making sure the projects and work they are involved in, continue with success. You will also be managing and developing stakeholder relationships across all the areas in which we work including transport and health sectors, as well with local authorities and arts and culture venues in the region.
About you
You will have the passion and ability to use your lived experience or experience to influence change, for the benefit of blind and partially sighted people. As an experienced volunteer manager, you will engage and lead Sight Loss Council members in the implementation of the region’s business plans to bring about change across transport, health and the built environment, as well as areas of local interest such as arts and culture or retail.
You will be a self-starter and work well on your own but will also enjoy being a part of a team of other Engagement Managers across the country, with whom you can learn from, as well as share good practice with.

The successful applicant will provide visionary leadership to develop and successfully bring to market RCR’s digital and face to face learning and events portfolio, ensuring it is innovative, high quality and commercially positioned as the go to global market leader for both members and non-members working within medical imaging and oncology services. This will be delivered against the backdrop of the RCR’s wider strategic priorities, proactively enabling the wider organisation to meet its objectives, which include membership growth and workforce development in addition to the provision of world class learning resources.

What you’ll do:
- Strategic development of the digital learning and events portfolio to deliver increased membership participation and global engagement, with consequent income generation (both direct and indirect).
- Product development through adapting and evolving RCR’s learning offer to meet and exceed users’ needs, covering both the learning products and the platforms on which they are delivered.
- Global growth and partnerships by building engagement with RCR’s digital learning and events with an appreciation of the diverse needs of segmented target audiences.
- Ensure marketing and sponsorship form key parts of the teams strategies, enabling delegate and income targets to be met.
- Lead and develop a high performing team to keep RCR Learning at the top of its game.
What you’ll need:
- Strong experience of leading a successful learning team, including the delivery of events, conferences and online learning.
- Excellent leadership abilities, capable of developing and retaining a high performing team.
- Experience of managing contracts, budgets , negotiation, business planning and income generation.
- Strategically and commercially minded leader.
- Ability to build and sustain strong and mutually beneficial relationships
- Solution orientated innovator, proactive in keeping yourself up to date with latest developments

We are looking for a capable and creative Content Coordinator to join our Marketing and Digital team. This is a crucial role, working across our digital channels to deliver ongoing communications and create content. You will be comfortable writing for different channels, formats and audiences, able to adapt your approach according to what’s needed. As a team, we cover a wide range of activities, and every day is different. You could be going from working on video editing one moment, to building an automated email campaign or preparing content for Instagram the next.
The Content Coordinator manages operational and administrative activity for the content team, ensuring that things run smoothly. You will have responsibility for our content calendar, managing the shared inbox and coordinating requests from staff. You will work closely with all Marketing and Digital team members, as well as with colleagues from across the RCR, helping to deliver effective and engaging communications.
What you’ll do
- Manage the day to day operations of our email platform, helping to develop new opportunities, build workflows and analyse engagements.
- Help to develop and deliver compelling content for our social media channels.
- Optimise and improve website content, ensuring consideration of SEO and UX.
- Edit and deliver video content for our channels, alongside other digital assets.
- Provide critical operational support for our channels, content planning and the wider team.
- Work with colleagues across the organisation in building high quality, engaging content for audiences, using insight to drive decision making.
What you’ll need
- An interest in creating digital content that inspires, motivates and engages our audiences.
- Excellent communication and copywriting skills, with an understanding of how to adapt your approach to suit different audiences.
- Experience in using bulk email platforms and content management systems
- Experience in writing and creating content for social media and websites
- An interest in using audience insight to inform communications
- Ability to multitask and manage a busy workload
