Scope of role
The Head of People and Culture is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), responsible for leading and embedding a strategic and inclusive People function that supports Toynbee Hall’s purpose, values, and vision for a fairer and more equitable society. This role will shape and champion a workplace culture that is people-first, values-driven, and committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB).
The Head provides strategic and operational direction and hands-on leadership to ensure every colleague’s experience at Toynbee Hall is supportive, developmental, and empowering.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership
- Co-create and implement a progressive People Strategy aligned with Toynbee Hall’s organisational goals and values, with a strong focus on equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Lead the development of measurable KPIs and outcomes to evaluate progress in people and
culture initiatives. - Partner with SMT and staff to embed a co-produced EDIB strategy, including a clear statement of intent, inclusive action plan, and transparent reporting processes.
- Act as a cultural ambassador, promoting practices and policies that reinforce a positive, inclusive, and purpose-driven working environment.
HR Operations
- Deliver a high-quality, person-centred HR service, with clear, accessible, and values-aligned policies and processes.
- Ensure policies are inclusive, legally compliant, and regularly reviewed—covering remuneration, flexible working, wellbeing, performance, and development.
- Oversee a fair and inclusive recruitment and resourcing process that reflects our commitment to equity and community.
- Lead performance management practices that are developmental, supportive, and reflective of individual and team contributions.
- Maintain robust, GDPR-compliant employee records and HR systems.
- Oversee compliance in employment checks, safeguarding requirements (including DBS), and risk management procedures.

- Create and deliver a meaningful annual work plan aligned with strategic priorities and cultural aspirations.
Senior Leadership Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to SMT discussions and organisational decision-making, ensuring People considerations are central to planning and implementation.
- Collaborate with the COO and CE on organisational performance, people data, and budget alignment.
- Build strong cross-organisational relationships to support change management and continuous
improvement. - Communicate openly and regularly with staff and stakeholders about People-related developments and opportunities.
Safeguarding, Risk, and Wellbeing
- Ensure all People-led activities are risk assessed and comply with health, safety, and safeguarding requirements.
- Promote a culture of care and responsibility, supporting psychological and physical safety across the organisation.
- Ensure systems are in place for reporting incidents and learning from them.
Finance and Payroll
- Work collaboratively with the finance team to ensure payroll is updated and released on time each month.
- Support with the Year End Audit requirements that relate to staffing.
- Overall responsibility of the HR function budget including training and resources.

- We are in the process of reviewing the HR function and you will be leading on the implementation of this to ensure that the team is working with inclusive strategies, as well as ensuring that we can best support the organisation with the needed support in a timely and efficient manner.

- Very good knowledge of UK employment regulation and HR practices.

As Assistant Donation Hub Manager, your primary purpose is to support the efficient and effective operation of our Donations Hub, ensuring that all incoming stock is sorted, processed, and distributed in line with the needs of our retail and ecommerce operations.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager to manage a complex and varied stock flow coming from multiple sources - including in-store donations, house clearances, home collections, corporate and community events, and direct drop-offs from the public. A key part of your role will be to ensure these donations are processed efficiently, assessed for maximum value, and appropriately segmented to drive income across our 14 shops and online platforms.
This is a highly practical and physical role that requires strong organisational skills and a deep understanding of operational logistics. You’ll be responsible for ensuring timely fulfilment of shop orders, maintaining high standards of stock quality by both sorting incoming donations from shops, allocating corporate donations and supporting the movement and dispatch of goods in a way that maximises efficiency and minimises waste.
You’ll lead day-to-day activities in the hub, supervising volunteers and working collaboratively with drivers to deliver an excellent internal service to shop teams. You will also act as a key support for community-facing donation activity - helping to deliver excellent service during home collections, managing local donor interactions at the warehouse, and assisting with the logistics of house clearances.
Flexibility will be vital, as the role will operate across a seven-day rota and may require you to deputise for the Operations Manager or drivers when needed. Experience in a charity retail setting, excellent customer service and relationship-building skills, and a general understanding of charity retail would be a distinct advantage. A full UK driving licence is also highly desirable.

Role Overview
As a member of the Joint Leadership Team, the post-holder will contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet the charity’s strategic objectives. About You
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have experience of delivering health service projects and programmes and have come from a health services or medical charity background. Whilst not essential, experience of managing and leading a team would be beneficial, as would be an awareness and knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.

About the role
The Data Analyst works within the Data Team, using and transforming data from multiple sources to produce high quality, digestible reports, dashboards, and bespoke pieces of analysis for our fundraising and alumni colleagues. You will also lead on any benchmarking projects, both the submission of data and the interpretation and presentation of their findings. Being a clear communicator of often complex information, you will deliver insight into the performance of our various fundraising and engagement programmes, giving colleagues the information they need to continually innovate and improve.
In addition, you will have a raft of technical skills and approaches that will enable you to efficiently transform source data from multiple data sources ready for import into our Dynamics CRM system.
You will be keen to learn and develop, embracing new technologies and ways of working, and will work with the Data Team and others across the department to improve the quality of the underlying data we all rely on. You will also work closely with others in the team, IT colleagues and other users across the organisation to shape future CRM features.
You will be required to liaise and work collaboratively with other teams on new fundraising projects and initiatives, thereby ensuring a joined-up approach, that future reporting requirements can be met, with learning shared and insight retained. You will often need to manage multiple requests and prioritise your workload, albeit we have adopted an Agile approach to development.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of data insight, analysis and reporting techniques
- Significant experience of working with a fundraising or marketing CRM in a technical, database management or report writing capacity
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience of building reports and dashboards using Power BI or other data visualization tools
- Ability to create data transformations using tools such as Power Query, Power Automate and/or VBA macros
- Experience of manipulating large or complex datasets
- Ability to communicate often complex and technical information in a clear and digestible way to a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external
- Experience of managing conflicting deadlines and multiple priorities
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of data modelling/ analysis techniques
- Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics and its associated applications such as Customer Insights
- Experience of building dashboards within Microsoft Dynamics
- Knowledge of other programming languages, such as DAX and M
- Restless enthusiasm for learning new technologies and improving processes
