Supporting over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families annually, Acorns Children’s Hospice is a vital lifeline for families across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire during unimaginably difficult times.
Palliative care for children aged 0–18 is delivered at Acorns’ hospices in Birmingham (serving Birmingham and Warwickshire), Worcester (serving Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire), and Walsall (serving the Black Country and parts of Staffordshire and Shropshire), as well as in family homes and other community settings. Acorns’ holistic, tailored approach is designed to meet each child’s clinical, emotional, cultural, religious, and spiritual needs.
Trust and Foundation income is a cornerstone of Acorns’ fundraising strategy. Income is primarily unrestricted and multi-year – a reflection of the strong, long-standing relationships Acorns have built with funders. With a mix of small templated applications and large bespoke bids, trusts work is underpinned by thoughtful stewardship and a collaborative, well-resourced approach across teams.
We’re looking for an experienced Trusts fundraiser to provide maternity cover and hit the ground running. You’ll take on a robust pipeline and inherit relationships from a portfolio that includes multi-year partnerships with major funders such as Children in Need and John Martins.
Working closely with a highly experienced and supportive peer, you’ll enjoy a shared, balanced portfolio and the space to focus on great fundraising. With a responsive Data team, access to strong stories, and excellent internal buy-in, this is a rare chance to build on solid foundations and deliver high-impact work. We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in writing successful 5- and 6-figure bids, excellent storytelling skills, and confidence in translating data into compelling narratives.
As Fundraising Manager – Trusts and Foundations, you will:
- Take on a well-established portfolio of trusts and foundations with a combined value of c.£850K, delivering a mix of templated and bespoke applications
- Collaborate closely with a peer Trusts Manager, sharing responsibility for monthly submissions and stewardship
- Maintain and build relationships with existing funders, ensuring excellent reporting and donor care
- Work cross-functionally with the Data, Marcomms, Finance, and Care teams to develop strong cases for support
- Support joint cultivation and engagement events alongside the Philanthropy team
Ideal skills and experience:
- A strong track record of securing 5- and 6-figure grants from trusts and foundations, including multi-year funding
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging across formats and word counts
- Comfortable managing and interpreting impact data, financial information, and project detail
- Highly organised and efficient, able to manage a busy workload with autonomy
- Collaborative and supportive team player with a donor-centred approach

Who are we looking for?

You should have experience in marketing, fundraising, or events and be comfortable leading on campaign planning, content creation, and supporter engagement. A keen eye for detail, strong project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- To work with the Community Engagement Officer on the development and roll out of our community fundraising programme, identifying areas of growth and undertaking regular analysis to increase the awareness, engagement and income generating opportunities
- Coordinate and help deliver fundraising campaigns, Tent for Lent and Tea in a Tent, engaging existing audiences, generating new leads, income and awareness for the organisation. Actively seeking further opportunities to grow these campaigns.
- Contribute and implement marketing plans, materials and content for all campaigns and activities to recruit and retain supporters, making sure brand and impactful messaging are at the heart of everything we do and driven by audience insight.
- Identify and maintain effective administrative processes for events and campaigns, ensuring accurate communication and financial records, while using data insights to drive continuous improvement and learning.
- Actively seeking further opportunities in the UK fundraising market to develop our events and campaign portfolio, offering engaging products for our audiences.
- Coordinate our annual Truro carol concert, working collaboratively with the wider Fundraising and Communications team to deliver an engaging and memorable fundraising event.
- Establish and help deliver the community fundraising marketing and communications plan, identifying opportunities to create inspiring touch points. To include development of content for appeals, newsletters, adverts, articles, social media etc
- Coordinate the creation of high-quality resources and tool kits, working closely with the Community Engagement Officer, that empower fundraisers and volunteers to take action confidently and effectively.
- Design, develop and implement a communication journey, in collaboration with the Supporter Care Team and Marketing & Events Officer, which supports all community fundraisers, ensuring they receive a positive and engaging experience which encourages continued acts of support
- Responsible for the logistical delivery of our annual volunteer conference, working collaboratively with the Community Engagement Officer to deliver a first-class event for our volunteers.
- Working closely with wider Community Team to support promotion of campaigns and activities through our volunteer network, giving them the tools to do this, helping to achieve targets.
- To work to set income and expenditure budgets, monitoring costs and trends, reporting and analysing performance and implementing solutions where appropriate.
- Work closely with wider Community Team to deliver major disaster plan during periods of emergency appeal, with the objective of maximising fundraising revenue and enhancing public awareness of ShelterBox's mission.
- Work collaboratively with wider Fundraising and Communications Department to ensure our community programme helps to deepen supporter engagement, working towards shared goals and supporting on specific projects where appropriate.
General duties:
- Producing detailed annual action plans and evaluations on specific areas of responsibility, identifying areas for growth/development and outlining measurable objectives.
- Objectively review the success and achievements against agreed targets, identifying strengths, weaknesses and areas for development
- Contribute new ideas and continually seek to improve processes to drive efficiency and increase income.
- Participate in the day-to-day work of the organisation - such as reporting, attending team meetings as required, and taking a flexible approach
- Representing ShelterBox at supporter/public events, delivering presentations where necessary.

Position: Centre Operations Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Jamyang Buddhist Centre, London, with the option for some remote working.

Purpose
As Centre Operations Manager, you work closely with the Executive Director to support Jamyang’s mission of fostering a caring, warmhearted community. You are the backbone of day-to-day operations, supervising local and resident volunteers in essential tasks such as facilities upkeep, team meal preparation, and general site care. You manage procurement and ensure that operational systems and processes are both effective and aligned with Jamyang’s values.

Key Responsibilities
1. Team & Volunteer Supervision

3. Operational Systems & Process Improvement

· Administer digital tools (Asana, BreatheHR, QuickBooks Online) to support collaboration and productivity across the team.
· Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements (liaising with external H&S consultants).
4. Finance & Administration
· Oversee invoice tracking, vendor payments, and financial hygiene (liaising with the external bookkeeping service).
· Support budget monitoring, insurance, utilities, contracts, and other administrative tasks as required.
5. Leadership & Collaboration
· Collaborate closely with the People & Community Coordinator to align systems, onboarding, volunteer support, and community engagement initiatives.

Requirements
To be successful, you will need:
- Education to degree level or equivalent work experience in relevant areas.
- A track record of Partnership Management including proven experience of growing and developing partnerships with companies.
- Experience of writing high quality and engaging proposals and reports for a corporate audience as well as experience of making presentations to senior level contacts and / or large groups of employees.
- Able to forge effective working relationships with people at all levels inside and outside the organisation and across a range of industries and differing business cultures.
Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:
- Knowledge of international development and understanding of overseas development issues.
- Experience of developing corporate accounts over £100,000.
- Experience of Payroll Giving scheme.

About the Role
Responsibilities will include:

Purpose of Role
The Digital Fundraising Growth Manager will manage our digital paid media planning and delivery, driving audience engagement at all stages of the marketing funnel, specifically with the aim of delivering growth in our supporter base and income.

Role Description
Working with other staff and volunteers, you will oversee the visitor experience to ensure a consistently high standard, delivering a wide-ranging programme of activities that will also attract a new and diverse audience to the Cathedral whilst maximising visitor donations and income.

- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure a consistent visitor offer ensuring positive messaging and promotion and highlight good news and events
- To present the best possible image of the Cathedral in general and in all contact and communications with the public, visitors, suppliers and all other external organisations
- Ensure high quality effective signage is in place that promotes the activities of the Cathedral and supports the visitor experience
- Maintain high quality interpretation in a range of media to meet differing visitor needs
- · Act as the ‘accessibility and diversity champion’ to ensure the Cathedral buildings, facilities and services are accessible for visitors with mobility and other special needs, as well as being involved in projects to create a wider appeal, particularly more diverse audiences
- Be alert to opportunities to work with partners in the town and County to bring visitors to the Cathedral
- Produce and manage a relevant and realistic budget for Visitor Experience and ensure operation within that budget are constantly monitored, forecasting and reporting performance against budget in conjunction with the Chief Finance Officer
- Regularly review, analyse, and report on visitor statistics to identify next steps and future requirements
- Uphold and comply with the organisation’s policies and the law in relation to health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding, data protection and other adopted policies and procedures as required
Person Specification
Essential Qualities
- Sensitive to the Cathedral’s core mission as a place of worship, outreach, welcome and care, which underpins its commercial activities
- Experience in leading people within a visitor-focused operation
- Background in heritage, tourism or hospitality
- Experience of line management, team working, networking and relationship building
- A proven track record of commercial acumen and taking measured risks
- Ability to manage the complexity of demands posed by both a religious, conservation and commercial environment
- Ability to consider and see different perspectives on issues between people across departments or organisations for mutual benefit
- Ability to influence and persuade stakeholders and gain commitment of others to act and achieve outcomes
- Excel at being able to operate flexibly and prioritise issues and opportunities as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages and at all levels
- An ability to work flexibly including some evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel
Desired Qualities
- Familiarity with the Church of England, particularly Cathedrals
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
Probationary and notice period
In accordance with current Chapter Policy, the post is subject to a 12 week probationary period. After completion of the probationary period the notice period is one month.
Pension
After 12 weeks’ service, the post-holder with be auto-enrolled into a pension scheme with the Church Workers Pension Fund.
Policies and Procedures
To be familiar and comply with Cathedral Policies where applicable but in particular the Health & Safety Policy, the Safeguarding Policy and the Cathedral’s Social Media Policy.
