Your Role as Volunteer Graphic Designer
As a key creative force in the Loneliness Project, you will:

Our charity delivers a range of awareness campaigns and support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a poorly understood pain condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are looking for 2 experienced social media and communications volunteers who are able to develop posts and campaigns from design to inception, create fresh and engaging content, increase engagement and to increase awareness of the charity and of the condition we represent.
Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and would like to draw on your experience in the communications world to help the charity deliver engaging content and communications to help us spread our aims and message to all our audience.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Engagement: Help increase engagement, improve the number of followers/likes, create & execute a content calendar
- Content Creation: Produce fresh, branded and engaging content for our social media channels
- Graphics: Prepare graphics and text for sharing across channels
- Engage with our followers and encourage interaction
- Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis
- Support charity campaigns, marketing, events and fundraising activities by promoting them on our social media feeds
- Use your creative skills to support strategies to engage, grow, and widen our target audiences

You will be with a small team of volunteers who will provide an overview of our existing social media content, our brand and how we have approached our social media content to date.
Experience
We are looking for a volunteer who has experience in:
- Different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
- Writing and editing marketing content for social media platforms including Facebook, X, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (especially TikTok, Instagram Reels & posts and YouTube)
- Building strategies to increase social media following and /or build fundraising or awareness campaigns
- Developing a coherent brand voice for social media, from content creation to community interactions
- Using and setting up tools such as Buffer, Canva etc
- Creating and executing content calendars to help plan social media activity

We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

Key tasks and responsibilities
Recruitment & Selection

Assist in the preparation of comprehensive job descriptions, person specifications, and engaging job adverts to attract the best talent.

Manage the full recruitment process using our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), from candidate sourcing to selection.

Actively monitor and maintain various recruitment channels to ensure a continuous pipeline of candidates.

Screen resumes and applications, shortlist candidates, and conduct initial interviews.

Coordinate and schedule interviews and training sessions, liaising with applicants and interview panels to facilitate a smooth process.

Conduct reference checks and background verifications where required.
Onboarding & Offboarding

Lead the onboarding process for new volunteers, ensuring they feel welcomed and fully supported as they integrate into the team.

Develop and implement continuous improvements to the onboarding process to enhance the overall volunteer experience.

Organise necessary documentation and compliance requirements to ensure all records are up-to-date.

Facilitate offboarding procedures when necessary, ensuring a respectful and professional exit process.

Time expectation
Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.

Role Overview

Key ResponsibilitiesHR Strategy & Policy Development
- Design, implement, and refine HR policies, procedures, and frameworks that align with QuilomboUK’s values and legal requirements.
- Partner with the Director of People & Culture to integrate D&I and social justice principles into all talent processes.
- Stay ahead of HR trends and best practices, adapting strategies to meet evolving organisational needs.
Talent Advisory & Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex ER issues, performance management, and workforce planning.
- Resolve high-risk employee concerns with fairness, empathy, and adherence to labour laws.
- Lead investigations into grievances or misconduct, ensuring equitable outcomes and minimal organisational risk.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop the Talent Advisory team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to ensure alignment with departmental and organisational goals.
- Promote continuous learning within the team, particularly in areas of D&I, social justice, and equitable HR practices.
Engagement & Retention
- Partner with the People & Culture team to design programs that boost employee engagement, retention, and belonging.
- Analyse turnover data and exit interviews to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions.
- Champion recognition initiatives that celebrate contributions aligned with QuilomboUK’s mission.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure HR practices comply with employment laws, regulations, and internal equity standards.
- Mitigate organisational risk through robust documentation, audits, and training on HR policies.
- Lead compliance reporting and address gaps proactively.
D&I Integration
- Embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into talent lifecycle processes (e.g., hiring, promotions, succession planning).
- Advise leaders on creating inclusive team environments and addressing systemic inequities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to advance external social justice partnerships and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in HR management, with expertise in employee relations, policy development, and team leadership. Prior experience in mission-driven or D&I-focused organisations is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to resolve complex ER cases with diplomacy and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent stakeholder management, coaching, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and data-driven decision-making.
