This is an exciting training role in Army Cadet Headquarters responsible for assuring that First Responder training supported through ACCT UK for the Army Cadets is delivered in accordance with appropriate national governing bodies or appropriate awarding bodies, and that the appropriate qualifications are recorded on Westminster.

Essential Skill

Role overview

Operation Smile is an international medical charity specialising in cleft surgery and care for babies, children and adults. Since 1982, the organisation has transformed lives through safe surgery and comprehensive cleft care, while strengthening local health systems through training, education and partnerships

Operating in more than 30 countries, Operation Smile raises around $100m globally each year. Operation Smile UK plays a vital role within this international network as a fundraising office, working closely with Operation Smile Inc. to fund programmes and support medical volunteers delivering care around the world.

The organisation is entering an exciting phase of development through its Operation 100 strategy, which focuses on strengthening surgical systems by supporting district hospitals closer to the communities they serve. Operation Smile UK has a strong individual giving programme and well-established relationships with corporate partners, trusts and institutional donors. Major donor fundraising, however, is still developing, presenting significant untapped potential and an exciting opportunity to help build a structured and sustainable philanthropy programme.

Operation Smile UK is now seeking a Philanthropy Manager to help grow major donor fundraising, building new philanthropic relationships and expanding support from HNWIs.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will:

• Develop and implement Operation Smile UK’s major donor strategy alongside the Director of Partnerships
• Identify and cultivate new major donor prospects through research, networking (internally and externally) and peer-to-peer introductions through supporters and board members
• Steward a small but warm portfolio of existing donors while focusing primarily on developing new prospects, delivering full lifecycle stewardship from cultivation through to long-term relationship management
• Develop compelling restricted funding propositions aligned with programmes, including geographically or thematically focused projects
• Lead cultivation activity including donor meetings, proposals, events and programme visits
• Represent Operation Smile UK confidently with major donors, prospects and senior stakeholders
• Contribute to the continued development of philanthropy fundraising within the wider Partnerships team
• Occasionally travel internationally to visit programmes and accompany donors, providing first-hand insight into Operation Smile’s impact

Essential skills and experience:

• Experience in major donor fundraising with a track record of securing five-figure+ gifts from HNWIs
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of major donor fundraising, from prospecting and cultivation through to solicitation and stewardship
• Strong prospect research and pipeline development skills, including identifying and developing new donor relationships from cold
• Experience and confidence in building rapport and trust with prospective major donors
• Experience engaging trustees, senior volunteers and colleagues in fundraising and leveraging networks for peer-to-peer introductions
• Confidence and credibility when representing an organisation to HNWIs and senior stakeholders
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to champion major donor fundraising in a collaborative and thoughtful way across the organisation
• A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to identify and develop opportunities within a growing fundraising programme

Desirable:

• Experience in international development or global health fundraising
• Experience helping to develop a major donor programme from a low base or early stage

The role offers an opportunity to work alongside an experienced Director of Partnerships who has previously built major donor programmes and is committed to supporting the successful candidate through coaching and mentoring.

About you:

This is a terrific opportunity to play a fundamental role as Welfare Grants Manager at Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Sydenham Garden is seeking to appoint a Community Engagement and Fundraising Lead for two days per week on a fixed term contract for two years. They will join our team of 14 staff and 70 volunteers supporting people living with mental ill-health and dementia in south-east London. 

Positions:  Community Engagement and Fundraising Lead 

Contract:  Fixed term for 1 year,

Hours: 0.4 FTE 15 hours per week 

Salary: £38,000 pro rata 

Annual leave: 33 days including bank holidays pro rata

Location: Sydenham Garden Resource Centre, SE23 2LW or working from home – minimum 1 day a month in office

Our Organisation 

Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a special, unique and beloved wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We were established in 2002 and will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give our primary beneficiaries). People are referred to us from community organisations and health professionals and we use an integrative approach where those with different degrees of mental and physical ill health come together with volunteers from the local community to reduce social exclusion and prejudice. Each year we work with on average over 250 co-workers and over 70 volunteers. 

About you 

You’ll have experience in building relationships with individual donors, increasing income from community sources and engaging and enthusing volunteers and supporters around a cause. You’ll have excellent communication and people skills and feel comfortable both thinking strategically and managing competing priorities day-to-day. Most importantly, you’ll thrive in a small team working to make a big impact for people living with mental ill-health and dementia.

The External Engagement Officer will provide vital administrative and operational support across fundraising, events, and communications, such as event logistics, copywriting content, preparing social media posts.

Fundraising and Data Support

• Managing Contacts: Ensuring that up-to-date records are kept throughout our CRM (Salesforce)
• Financial Processing: Responsible for adding weekly bank donations onto Salesforce and working with the Finance Team to reconciling income and assist with gift processing
• Supporter Care: Lead on thanking supporters, specifically managing emails and cards 
• Legacy Administration: Assist with the administration of legacy giving, including thanking donors for pledges and gifts.
• Prospect Research: Support the Fundraising Manager in carrying out research into potential prospects and networks to help expand the Trust's reach.

Events - Logistics and Administration

• Guest Management: Support event logistics by using our CRM to manage all aspects of our events including guest lists, RSVPs, and creating name badges for attendees
• Box Office Function: Act as a point of contact for event booking enquiries and assist with seating plans
• On-site Support and post-event coordination

Communications and Digital Engagement

• Inbox Management ensuring timely and professional responses
• Social Media: Assist with digital engagement by managing DMs, replying to comments, and creating content.
• Print Advertising: Manage the logistics of print advertising

General / Team Support

• Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of fundraising and event materials, such as banners, stationery, and merchandise
• Team Collaboration: Provide general administrative support to the ER team and contribute creative ideas for improving supporter care and donor engagement

We are looking for a candidate who is highly organized, technologically adept and curious, with a ‘can-do’ attitude who shares our commitment to supporting the clergy community.

The Delivery Manager leads a team of Switchback Mentors who work within prisons and the community, ensuring they have the support, systems, and processes in place to deliver the Switchback programme effectively and maximise the impact for Trainees.

Caseloads are deliberately small, with Mentors working with no more than five to eight Trainees at a time, and a current annual Traineeminimumtarget of 12.

The post holderis responsible forline managing Switchback Mentors, providing support, development, and motivation to ensure high-quality delivery of the programme in line with the organisation's approach and values.

The Delivery Manager will ensure operational processes are well-developed and consistently implemented and work alongside the Head of Delivery and other Delivery Managers to ensure insights from Trainee engagement inform the continued development of the programme andmethodology.

The role will also support the Head of Delivery in piloting and assessingnew approachesand adaptations, contributing to the organisation’s strategicvisionand ensuring the programme continues to strengthen and grow to reach more people in the justice system
