POSITION OVERVIEW
The Programme Operations Manager is responsible for the operational delivery of our programmes being delivered to young people aged 8-19. This role ensures consistent, high-quality service provision through effective team leadership and comprehensive oversight of programme activities.
Key responsibilities include direct management of the youth work team and supervision of programme implementation to maintain service standards aligned with organisational values. The postholder ensures operational effectiveness through resource allocation, staff support, and robust quality assurance processes.
Working alongside the Programme Development Manager, this position translates organisational objectives into practical programme delivery through systematic implementation and monitoring. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Quality Assurance and Standards Management
· Support the Programme Development Manager to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance frameworks for all youth programmes, ensuring consistent delivery of high standards across all activities.
· Establish quality indicators and performance metrics for programme delivery, conducting regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.
· Design and implement quality audit procedures, conducting systematic reviews of programme delivery, facilities, and resource utilisation.
· Create and maintain quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, best practice guidelines, and compliance frameworks.
· Ensure all programmes meet regulatory requirements, funding obligations, and sector best practice standards.
· Implement corrective action procedures when quality standards are not met, working with teams to identify solutions and prevent recurrence.
· Liaise with external quality assurance bodies, inspectors, and regulatory authorities as required.
Youth Worker Team Management and Development
● Provide direct line management to youth workers and volunteers, ensuring clear role expectations and performance standards.
● Attend Line Managers training and regular sessions with HR Manager.
● Implement robust induction programmes for all new team members, ensuring thorough understanding of organisational values, procedures, and quality expectations.
● Conduct quarterly supervisions and annual appraisal with line reports, providing professional support, guidance, and performance management.
● Conduct systematic observation of youth work sessions, providing constructive feedback and identifying development opportunities.
● Foster a culture of continuous professional development, identifying training needs and supporting career progression opportunities.
● Ensure adequate staffing levels for all programmes, managing rotas, cover arrangements, and resource allocation effectively.
Programme Operations and Delivery Oversight
● Oversee day-to-day operational delivery of all youth programmes, ensuring smooth running of activities and services.
● Collaborate with the Engagement, Communities and Culture Manager to monitor programme attendance, engagement levels, and participant outcomes, implementing strategies to maximise positive impact.
● Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager to ensure all programmes operate within approved budgets, monitoring expenditure and resource utilisation.
● Coordinate programme scheduling, space allocation, and resource distribution to maximise efficiency and participant experience.
● Implement risk management procedures for all programme activities, always ensuring health and safety compliance.
● Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager to oversee marketing and recruitment activities for programmes, working with relevant teams to ensure optimal participation levels.
Safeguarding and Compliance
● Ensure that full compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to.
● Implement comprehensive safeguarding training for all team members, maintaining records and ensuring regular updates.
● Manage safeguarding incidents and concerns. In the absence of the Designated Safeguarding Leads liaise with external agencies including social services, police, and other statutory bodies.
● Monitor and maintain health and safety standards across all programme areas, conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits.
● Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including data protection, health and safety, and equality requirements.
Data Management and Reporting
● Oversee collection, analysis, and reporting of programme data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funder requirements.
● Contribute to the preparation of regular reports for leadership team, funders, and external stakeholders on programme performance and quality indicators.
● Maintain comprehensive records of all programme activities, participant outcomes, and quality assurance measures.
● Implement feedback mechanisms for participants, parents, and stakeholders, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
Partnership and Stakeholder Management
● Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community organisations, and partner agencies.
● Represent the organisation at multi-agency meetings and sector networks, promoting collaborative approaches to youth work, as required.
● Coordinate with external providers delivering services within AYP premises, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
● Build positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining regular communication about programme delivery and young people's progress.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· In conjunction with your Line Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Avenues.
· Participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary.
· Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs.
· Adhere to all The Avenues’ policies and procedures.
· Stay abreast of policy and developments in youth work locally and nationally

ABOUT YOU
● A Level 3 or above Youth Work Qualification is desirable, or experience equivalent.
● Minimum 3 years frontline youth work experience with 8-19 year olds

Overall Purpose of the Role
The Prospect Research Manager will play an integral role in managing the growth and development of the prospect pipeline to enable the fundraising ambitions of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.
This role will make a significant contribution towards increasing our income by ensuring that the best potential supporters are identified, researched and allocated in collaboration with the high value fundraising teams.
This role works across all areas of the team’s remit to deliver strategic insight on our highest-level prospects, using data science techniques to evaluate performance, spot trends and opportunities, including due diligence research, build prospect pipelines for priority fundraising projects, and work directly with fundraisers to manage prospect portfolios.
Our fundraising department has recently entered a period of ambitious growth and will shortly be launching a significant capital campaign for our children’s hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver timely and strategic prospect research and intelligence which meets the needs of our fundraising team.
- Conduct fundraising market research, from larger prospect finding projects to prospect ratings work, donor profiles, networks research, competitor analysis and occasional work on cultivation event briefings.
- Work closely with the Senior Prospect Research Manager to ensure the team’s workplan is updated regularly and work assigned is carried out to deadline, sharing any capacity issues or challenges where they arise.
- Carry out due diligence research on prospective donors, producing thorough and objective reports which support fundraising decisions and ensure adherence to our gift acceptance procedures and are agreed with the legal team
- Identify networks of clinicians and stakeholders to assess the opportunities for reaching new potential donors.
- Work with the Senior Prospect Development Manager to undertake work arising from portfolio reviews to clean fundraising portfolios.
- Build strong cross-team working relationships, meeting with fundraisers on a regular basis to discuss needs, manage expectations and gain feedback.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the Raiser’s Edge database which will include regular data mining activity, building complex queries and exports, and the creation of constituent records.
- Advocate best practice in the recording and processing of prospect data on Raiser’s Edge, ensuring data is accurate, relevant and processed as per the team’s Data Protection Policy and in line with The Data Protection Act 2018/ the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. This will include working with the data team to identify data challenges and appropriate solutions for improving prospect data quality and cleanliness.
- Work with the Senior Prospect Research Manager to develop annual plans which best support Fundraisings priorities.
- Network regularly with sector peers to share best practice and generate insight on the latest developments in prospect research.
- Alongside the Senior Prospect Research Manager, oversee prospect identification for priority fundraising projects and support team members in developing projects for prospecting.
- Proactively engage with market intelligence which supports the identification of prospects and philanthropic trends, and highlights opportunities for future fundraising growth. This would include regular assessment of insight on transformational donations made worldwide, high net worth individuals and philanthropic trends.

We are looking for an Individual Giving Manager for a 10 month maternity cover role starting from September 2025 until July 2026, and take responsibility for the operational planning and delivery of public fundraising programmes in line with agreed strategic fundraising goals, to grow individual giving income and the number of individual supporters.

The Role

- Lead on the prospect research and development strategy for a significant capital campaign, which will involve increasing the volume and capacity of our pipeline. This role will drive forward this campaign prospecting strategy, alongside high value fundraisers, the Head of Philanthropy and the Director of Fundraising. Prospecting approaches will include desk research, network mapping of Trustees and other senior stakeholders, and engaging Campaign Board connections.
- Work alongside our Legal team to implement and oversee our Due Diligence policies and processes.
- Oversee the regular data mining of Raiser’s Edge to identify opportunities from amongst our warmest constituents.
- Work closely with fundraising leads to develop the prospect pipeline, in particular building our networks of advocates and influencers. This will include attending meetings with clinicians and other key stakeholders. Qualify and allocate prospects identified by the team.
- Proactively engage with market intelligence which supports the identification of prospects and philanthropic trends, and highlights opportunities for future fundraising growth. This would include regular assessment of insight on transformational donations made worldwide, high net worth individuals and philanthropic trends.
- Undertake strategy research which supports decision making relating to fundraising. This may include competitor analysis and feasibility work.
- Advocate best practice in the recording and processing of prospect data on Raiser’s Edge, ensuring data is accurate, relevant and processed as per the team’s Data Protection Policy and in line with The Data Protection Act 1998/ the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). - Support the Director of Fundraising and Head of Philanthropy in embedding a performance culture – including tracking identification, prospect movement, conversion rates and cleansing the pipeline on an ongoing basis.
- Take a lead role in using data visualisation techniques to bring new insight to major gifts and prospect pipeline data which informs fundraising strategy.
Experience
- Highly experienced Prospect Research professional, ideally having led delivery of prospect research strategies
