The role
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and ambitious Business Development Manager to lead our organisational efforts around income generation. The role is ideal for someone with experience in fundraising and/or business development interested in leading the work of a small but impactful and highly respected charity in the health and social care space.
At National Voices, fundraising responsibilities are shared across the organisation, so it is important that the successful candidate is able to work in a collaborative way with others and is just as happy with rolling up their sleeves and writing bids and supporting others to.

While your primary role will be raising funds for National Voices, you will need to be confident in acting as an ambassador for the organisation and in conveying who we are, what we do and the key priorities of our members and people who use health and care.
Responsibilities
Maintain and grow a strong pipeline of funders and clients
· Overseeing the work of our Membership, Development and Partnership Officer in bringing together weekly information on publicly advertised funding opportunities, periodically testing new search words in line with our strategic and commercial interests.
· Ensuring we have access to relevant tendering frameworks.
· Maintaining a pipeline of charitable Trusts and Foundations.
Write and submit bids, and support others to
· In some instances, leading on bid writing – drafting, costing and submitting high quality bids for both project and core funding.
· In other instances, buddying with staff members on bids – carrying out initial call with funders to check fit of projects, supporting with budget development, sharing previous relevant tender responses to support bid writing, supporting submission, leading on the social value response and more.
Support and co-ordinate fundraising efforts of the staff team
· Co-ordinating the triaging and prioritisation of funding bids within the team, in line with our strategic priorities.
· Matching project ideas from across the team with funding opportunities.
· Organising fundraising meetings and ensuring the organisational income generation tracker is up to date.
· Supporting members of the staff team to develop their business development and fundraising skills.
· Providing advice and support to the wider team on compliance with our organisational ethical fundraising policy, the ABPI code, the ABHI code and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
· Maintaining our rate card.
Maintain and develop relationships with prospective funders, clients and organisations we may wish to partner with on funded projects
· Maintaining and developing relationships with grant funding teams at pharmaceutical companies – keeping them updated on our priorities and pitching potential projects for grant funding.
· Alongside other managers and the Senior Management Team, maintaining and developing relationships with development teams at organisations we may want to partner with – consultancy firms, think tanks, research agencies and more.
Manage our partnership scheme
· Take lead responsibility for client management and renewals for organisations on our partnership scheme.
· Coordinate responses to partnership requests within our staff team. Co-ordinate, develop and oversee the delivery of our partnership offer.
General
· Line-manage staff, in the first instance our Membership, Development and Partnership Officer, to include appraisals, setting objectives, monitoring performance and supporting development.
· Review our income generation approach regularly and making suggestions for improvements, using insights from both successful and unsuccessful bids.
· Report progress on our income generation to the board on a quarterly basis.
· Take a pro-active approach to including our members and people with lived experience in all areas of our work.

Our approach to hybrid working
We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.
We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We also might ask you to meet in-person with members of your team from time to time, or to be available for face-to-face meetings with clients and partners where this enhances the work.
We assume that this would usually not amount to more than one day per fortnight for people who work full time.

Position Summary:
The Philanthropy Manager will have a strategic role in increasing funding for RSN’s mission, educational programmes and Fragile Threads programme, individual giving, legacy giving and stewarding events.

Role Responsibilities
Priorities include:
· Developing and delivering a corporate fundraising income plan across, Corporate Donations, Corporate Grants, Charity of the Year, Sponsorship, Cause Related Marketing, Payroll Giving, Gifts in Kind and Pro Bono relationships.

Income growth:

Research:
· To direct the work of the shared Partnerships Assistant in researching, identifying, and maximising the potential of new corporate prospects using information held within the supporter databases as well as external sources such as LinkedIn, and business press.
Relationship building:
· Ensure all corporate relationships receive exceptional stewardship and that appropriate cultivation plans are developed, maintained and implemented – in particular, quality and timely reporting of impact achieved against funding provided.
· Build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within current and potential corporate partners to embed the organisation as a charity with a strong reputation for meeting the needs of corporate supporters.
· Plan and organise opportunities for funders to view the impact of their funding first-hand, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and met.

Collaboration with colleagues across the organisation:
· Facilitate and encourage new leads by building warm links with colleagues and coordinate relationship management between teams to ensure most appropriate relationship for the donor.

Reporting:

As Community Engagement Officer, you’ll be at the heart of delivering positive change through the PlayZones Programme, helping to increase physical activity among priority groups: individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds, women and girls, disabled people and those with long-term health conditions, and culturally diverse communities.
You’ll manage a portfolio of PlayZones projects, working closely with our Delivery Managers to ensure each project is shaped by meaningful community input, and leading the development and implementation of community engagement plans.

You’ll bring proven experience supporting underrepresented or priority groups and addressing inequalities in physical activity, alongside the confidence to lead inclusive meetings and build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Skilled in juggling multiple projects, you’ll be comfortable managing competing deadlines while maintaining high standards and attention to detail. You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex processes and engage partners remotely and in person. A natural collaborator and creative problem-solver, you’ll be proactive, adaptable, and able to turn insight into action. Familiarity with capital funding processes, project management tools, and place-based working would be an advantage, but most of all, we’re after someone who shares our values, believes in fairness and inclusion, and is ready to help communities thrive through physical activity.

What can we offer you?
The salary band for this role is £32,000-34,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.
You will start with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (which increases after 2 years), plus additional time off to volunteer. The Purpose of the Role
The ideal candidate is a technical leader and expert in the corporate consumer goods sector – such as retail, travel, food products, etc. They will have demonstrated experience building 7-figure corporate partnerships in support of humanitarian and development work, and a robust network of funders, experts, and decision-makers in the consumer goods and other corporate sectors. In addition to supervising and mentoring a team of consumer goods sector fundraisers, the Associate Director will have a dedicated portfolio of partners, focusing on sustained revenue generation and humanitarian impact. Finally, they will demonstrate passion for the IRC's mission, nuanced understanding of private sector fundraising, and dedication to the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion values.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with the Senior Director, Global Corporate Partnerships to develop and deliver a robust strategy for the consumer goods sector, identifying and initiating strategies for the consumer goods through a variety of partnership models.
- Cultivate a $2-3M+ USD portfolio of partners with a focus on sustainable funding, diversified funding streams, growing unrestricted funds and expanding influence.
- Lead on developing a series of high profile, creative, and impactful partnerships with consumer goods companies to serve our clients across the world, while offering companies innovative outlets to deploy philanthropic and core-business solutions supporting our humanitarian agenda;
- Design and implement creative outreach, solicitation, and management strategies for partners within the portfolio, such as pitches, proposal submissions, and partnership discussions;
- Provide best in class People Management to support and develop line reports and role model IRC leadership and IRC DEI principles.
- Serve as an internal, and when appropriate, external focal point for the IRC as related to the consumer goods sector
- Provide dynamic thought leadership across External Relations in identifying and initiating strategies for consumer goods sector partnerships through a variety of partnership models (e.g., cause related marketing, in-kind, employee engagement, workplace giving etc.)

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
- Technical expertise and experience working in the consumer goods industry and community
- Strong experience of front-line corporate fundraising and/or partnership development experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Experience leading 1-2 full time team, preferably fundraising
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Management or solicitation of partnerships valued at or above $1,000,000 USD per year.
- Ability to develop thoughtful project management plans and implement them in timely and detailed fashion.
- Ability to work accurately and productively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Ability to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external contacts with confidence and poise.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, and ability to work evenings and weekends for urgent matters.
