We are inviting applications for an Events Manager to join Garden Court Chambers. This is a full time permanent role.

Purpose of the role

Garden Court Chambers hosts a range of events including roundtables, webinars, hybrid, and in-person panel discussions. We bring together legal professionals, policy specialists, NGOs, community groups, and activists for legal training, thought-leadership and networking.

At least three times a week, we host 40-50 people for in-person events, 15-20 for roundtables, and several hundred for webinars. We also host parties throughout the year for around 150+ guests.

In this role, you will plan deliver and host each event; support the Head of Communications and Marketing with event programming; and work with barrister colleagues who convene each event to agree all event specifications.

Working as part of the friendly and professional Communications and Marketing team, the events you produce will amplify the vital work our barristers undertake to fight injustice, defend human rights, and uphold the rule of law.

About you

• Committed to delivering consistently excellent customer service - great front of house and highly organised and methodical behind the scenes.
• Experienced in dealing with the day-to-day challenges of high-volume event planning, delivery, and hosting.
• Confident at managing technology required for large webinars and hybrid events.

Core duties

• Event planning and delivery: book rooms and catering; liaise with speakers and diarise; coordinate webinar access for guests and speakers; collate and format PowerPoints; manage event recording and webinar platform (Zoom); process bookings and manage invitations; and coordinate with facilities, security, and reception.
• Event hosting duties (supported by Events Assistant): greet guests and welcome speakers; manage cloak rooms, event signage, and catering; set up and clear rooms; and trouble shoot and support the needs of guests and speakers.
• Support the Head of Communications and Marketing with event programming.
• Work pro-actively with members of Chambers (barristers) to ensure that requirements for their events are clearly recorded, and that events are delivered to specification.
• Support the Communications and Marketing Manager with digital communications to promote events.
• Support the Head of Communications and Marketing with event budgeting.
• Create and manage invitation lists using CRM software and support the production and delivery of well-targeted and high-quality email marketing.
• Assist with other administrative tasks for the marketing team.
• Line manage junior members of the team, as required.
• Feed into reports to measure the reach and impact of Garden Court marketing activities.

Skills and experience

• Proven experience in planning, delivering, and hosting in person, hybrid, and online events (ideally all three).
• Good working knowledge of Zoom (or similar), PowerPoint, Excel (all essential), and Campaign Monitor / MailChimp (desirable).
• Experience of working with CRM systems and email marketing tools (desirable)
• Experience of working in fast-paced environments and managing competing priorities.
• Experience of collaborating with and hosting high-value clients and senior professionals.
• Knowledge of the law is not essential, but a commitment to Garden Court’s values is a must.

Barnardo's Kickstart Futures Service; Floating Support for Care Leavers in Sutton.

Barnardo's, in partnership with The London Borough of Sutton, is providing a floating support service for Care Leavers with low to medium levels of support needs.

The service provides floating support to Young People across a range of properties located within the borough of Sutton, as well as a small number of Young People based elsewhere in the community, mainly around The London Borough of Sutton and neighbouring boroughs.

Some residents are Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Young People (UASYP), or survivors of Human Trafficking, who are over the age of 18.

The service delivers key work support to each Young Person on an individual basis and additional group work sessions for property residents. Key work sessions are scheduled in collaboration with the Young Person. Key work hours will be delivered flexibly to meet the needs of the Young People and include regular evenings and weekends in order to fit around college and/or work schedules for Young People who are engaged in Education, Employment or Training.

We are now seeking to recruit new project workers, with experience of working with Care Leavers, to help us grow this exciting new service. We would welcome applications for as and when part time workers.

The Role
This is an exciting time to join The Difference as we increase our impact, reach more schools, and develop our influencing strategy. As People and Operations Manager you will:

• lead our professional development offer
• support and oversee all performance management
• refine, implement and oversee our recruitment strategy 
• support the delivery of smaller events including publication launches and symposiums
• support the operational needs of the organisation, ensuring compliance with HR policies

The Candidate
We are seeking a combination of the following skills, aptitude and experience:

• Experience designing and delivering staff training / professional development
• Track record building productive work cultures with colleagues with a range of experiences
• Experience coaching and line managing
• Evidenced interest in thoughtful hiring practices to acknowledge and reduce impact bias, including matching competitive processes with headhunting leads to improve diversity of insight and experience in candidates
• Experience in managing a diverse portfolio of work in a standalone role, with the ability to work to deadlines, remain calm under pressure, and reprioritise work in accordance with organisational needs
• A career/volunteering which evidences commitment to The Difference's mission of improving the lives of vulnerable children

You are more likely to be successful in your application if you have either/both:

• CIPD trained or willing to begin training & accreditation process
• Experience working in fast-paced start up culture; can-do in contexts of ambiguity
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with employee relations cases
• Experience in relational practices including restorative work

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. In some services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.
This roles shift pattern consist of the following: 7 days a week, including bank holidays. Working 8 hour shifts. Alternating 2 shifts one week and 3 shifts the following week. Sleep in cover required.

What you'll do:

This is not an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required from time to time and is subject to change in accordance with the needs of Look Ahead.

- If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include delivering personal and physical care as appropriate
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
- Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker
- Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises
- Monitor the CCTV throughout the shift
- Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed
