About the role
The Community Activities Coordinator plays a key role in reducing loneliness and isolation while increasing volunteering in the community as part of the Furness For You partnership.

The role involves:

• Organizing engaging activities (like workshops and events) to promote confidence, independence, and life skills.
• Providing one-on-one support and signposting to relevant services.
• Creating a welcoming environment to encourage community involvement and well-being.
• Supporting participants’ development of soft skills and personal goals.
• Referring individuals for additional support when needed, including help with food, fuel, and access to the community laundry.

Overall, the coordinator helps participants build meaningful connections and improve their quality of life.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• IAG Level 2 or equivalent
• Knowledge of the local voluntary and community sector and experience of working with people who have multiple barriers
• Passion and experience for creating and developing community-based activities such as arts & crafts and community engagement.
• Ability to motivate people who lack confidence
• Customer care skills, caring and empathetic
• Experience of data collection and collation, including writing reports and case studies
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Deliver weekly lectures using USW online content and support students with assessments.
• Monitor student progress and provide supportive interventions when needed.
• Develop and manage work placements and coach education sessions.
• Lead student recruitment and build strong relationships with local colleges and schools.
• Create clear progression pathways from BTEC to degree level.
• Grow and enhance the programme, identifying opportunities for development and innovation.
• Coach and manage a post-16 football team, delivering training and overseeing the fixture schedule.

You will have:

• FA Level 2 in Coaching Football (Essential)
• UEFA B License (Desirable)

Job Purpose: 

Volunteering Matters are partnering with Active Suffolk to recruit  6 Community Connectors to work in the following areas of Ipswich: 

• 2 x Whitton 

• 1 x Gainsborough

• 1 x Belstead Hills 

The ideal candidates will have strong local knowledge of the area and preferably, live within the community they are assigned to. In this role, you will have conversations with local residents (aged 18+) to capture lived experience around barriers, motivations, perceptions of being physically active in the local community. You must be a confident communicator and able to work off your own initiative.

The information collected will be shared with project partners and local stakeholders to guide further learning and community development, with the goal of securing future funding for further investment in these areas. 

Responsibilities 

• Identify, plan and create opportunities to have conversations with local residents around being physically active in the local community

• Identify community needs – gather information from local residents on what they value the most, the challenges they face, and what services or initiatives could benefit them. This could be done through informal conversations, community meetings, surveys 

• Share ideas with the local community and project partners/ stakeholders 

• Signpost to information and support for residents wanting to get more involved with their local community 

• Build relationships and networks locally to promote and create opportunities for conversations. 

• Conduct conversations safely and effectively in a range of settings (eg cafes, outside local schools, community events etc) to reach a diverse range of local residents 

• Participate in regular team meetings to support learning, problem solving and collaboration 

• Work within agreed budgets and utilise community resources and venues to undertake conversations

The Role

Are you an experienced manager with a sound knowledge of financial management procedures, HR and governance?

We are looking for a savvy and adaptable finance and business operations manager to support our charity with financial management, HR operations, governance and office management.

You will be an experienced manager with strong all-round finance capabilities, driven to ensure robustness and efficiency across all elements of our finance, HR and governance in a busy charity setting.

• Ensuring sound financial and governance procedures and control.
• Overseeing the management of the charity’s internal business operations, including payroll, HR and premises.

Main Purpose of Job

We have a rewarding opportunity to for four Positive Behaviour Support Workers (PBS) to join our new and expanding service supporting children, young people with autism and learning disabilities. This role would be supporting families across Manchester. 

Working therapeutically within a person-centred PBS model the role will focus on enabling young people to access education, community activities and enabling families to have a better quality of life.  

The service is based in Wythenshawe, Manchester however you will work across Manchester supporting several families. 

Starting salary is £24,700 per annum (£12.67ph) based on working 37.5 hours per week.

Weekend shifts paid at 25% extra per hour

 As a specialist service there is a comprehensive package of training and support either internally within the Trust’s Learning & Development Team or externally with our professional partners (which include social services and CAHMS).

The role includes:

• Travelling throughout the Manchester local authority area, you will visit a variety of settings that meets the young person’s needs.  
• Provide a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people.  
• Assist with the assessments of need and formulation of plans which includes working in partnership with other agencies.

Ascension Community Trust (ACT) is a much-loved community-based charity in Custom House, Newham.  We deliver a range of projects including Newham District Foodbank (a Trussell Trust foodbank run by ACT and two community partners), welfare benefits advice, immigration advice, ESOL classes, work with adults with learning difficulties, as well as work with children, young people and their families.
