Adult Carers Activities Coordinator - Part-time (14 hours per week)

£26,060 pro rata (actual salary £10,424)

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. 

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim.  We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting unpaid and family adult carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Carers provide vital support and can come from all walks of life and be of any age.

As an Adult Carers Activities Coordinator, you’ll be part of a small dedicated team and directly deliver our leisure break activity programme. You will plan, deliver, promote and review a programme of activities for adult carers, including outreach activities and leisure events, as well as group work to help enhance carers’ health and wellbeing. The core aim of the activity programme is to provide carers with a much needed break from their caring responsibilities, in a safe and social environment where they can meet other carers and focus on their wellbeing.

Using your strong organisational and team skills, you will be responsible for organising, budgeting and carrying out risk assessments for the delivery of the activities programme, including leading and participating in the activities where relevant, and coordinating and supporting sessional staff and volunteers.

Using your creativity and innovative thinking, you will plan, research and effectively manage your budget to provide the most appealing and cost-effective leisure break activity programme to maximise the number of breaks we can offer to carers. You will create a programme with an emphasis on providing respite to carers, social opportunities and enabling peer support with a focus on improving carers’ health and wellbeing.

You will demonstrate your ability and experience to plan a broad and exciting spectrum of activities that is appealing to carers and provides them with a crucial break from their caring role. Building and maintaining relationships, both within our organisation and externally to develop and maintain the activities programme for adult carers is key to the role.

With your proven experience of working with carers or other vulnerable groups on an individual and/or group basis, you’ll recognise the importance of being client focused and have a commitment to enhance the lives of carers.  You will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of carer’s needs and a wide range of skills in relation to working with individuals and groups.

You will be self-motivated and positive in your approach to working with both carers and staff and have a willingness to embrace our organisational values. Strong administrative, time management, IT and organisational skills are essential.  Your ability and willingness to occasionally work outside normal working hours is required.

Richmond Carers Centre is working on a transition plan with staff currently office based with some opportunities to work from home. Services for carers are resuming with a blended offer of face to face and digital support.
