The position is an exciting dual role:

1. Volunteering & People Manager (80% of workload)

You'll become a key cog at the heart ofFree to Be's management team, taking lead responsibility for volunteer and staff recruitment and retention, holding and delivering our volunteering strategy, launching a new training infrastructure through 2026-27, and heading up 'all things volunteering'. With one direct report, you'll aim to grow volunteer numbers year on year, ensure volunteers are well matched, and well supported, onto our residential projects, and lead on quality assurance, including volunteering standards concerns/grievances.  Alongside our Services, Operations and Fundraising Managers, you'll be a core management team member holding shared responsibility for the day to day running of an impactful and growing children's mental health and adventure charity and will work closely with our inspiring and supportive CEO to set longer-term key strategic goals underpinning Free to Be's future development.

2. Residential Project Lead Coordinator (20% of role)

Our residentials are fun, immersive, tiring (in all the right ways), impactful and inspiring. A core aspect of all Free to Be Kids staff's roles is leading circa 8-10 of our residential projects across each year - working on the ground with the children, leading the volunteers & staff team on project, and helping make the projects special, safe, and transformative for vulnerable young people, many of whom have damaged confidence, low self-worth, or other social-emotional needs. 

Attendance at approximately 8-10 five-six night residential projects per year outside London is a core component of this role. As a manager, you'd likely attend 8-10 residentials in year 1 to build familiarity with both the projects and our volunteer base, with this dropping to c.8 per year thereafter.

On offer to the right candidate:

Salary: Circa £38,000 - £40,000, dependent on experience.

Hours: Fulltime: 37.5 hours per week. Essential attendance on at c.8-10 residential projects a year.

Leave: 25 days per year, plus bank holidays and up to 13 additional pre-set discretionary reward days in September and during the Christmas period. A substantial perk of the role is potential to take up to 4 consecutive weeks off to travel each September.

Other benefits: 4% employer pension contribution paid on full base salary, rising by 1% per year of service, up to a maximum of 7%; hybrid working; office with great transport links; flexible working (outside core hours); employee reward scheme; tight-knit, fun, vibrant, cohesive staff team with great morale.

Based: Hybrid – our small office in Waterloo, London. Hybrid working is well established with the majority of the team splitting time around 50:50 between the office and home.

We're looking for someone who loves working with young people, as you'll be role modelling that commitment and energy to our volunteers and playing a leading role in holding our already thriving team culture. Volunteer Management or HR experience is a bonus, and capacity and personality to quickly pick that up is a must, but ultimately we're looking for the right organisational fit - someone who believes in what we do and wants to step up to join a management team working hard to deliver it. 

You’ll have the flexibility to work away from home on (up to) 10 five to six day residential projects per year. Ideally, you’ll also have experience of leading projects for children – whether residential or non-residential - for example as a teacher, or running groups in other settings. Experience of working on or leading residentials projects themselves is not required but may be an advantage.

We are a small, vibrant, 'can do', friendly staff team of 10, supported by a committed volunteer base of around 300.

Our Infrastructure Systems Manager plays a crucial role in the development, support and maintenance of these systems, implementing the tools and technology we need as well as driving the reduction of IT costs where possible.

This role is responsible for:

• Maintenance of technical infrastructure based on Microsoft technologies
• Automated process creation to ensure systems are monitored and managed
• Migration of remaining on premise systems to Microsoft cloud based solutions
• Maintenance of legacy systems and processes where necessary
• Ensuring systems are highly accessible and available
• Advice to the Organisation on best practice on technology

For this role we’re looking for:

• Broad expert technical knowledge of IT Infrastructure based on both cloud and on premise Microsoft technologies

• SQL (SSIS, SSRS) knowledge

School in a Bag Trading Ltd is the wholly owned trading subsidiary of the charity School in a Bag and all profits made by the company are given to the charity to support its work in providing rucksacks full of educational, hygiene, eating and drinking equipment to displaced, deprived and disadvantaged children across the world. 

We operate a flagship three-day music festival, Home Farm festival, which has grown significantly in recent years. 2026 will be Home Farm Festivals 19th year and having started as a small one stage event it has now grown in profile and numbers, attracting nearly 5000 people on site for the weekend with 100’s of local bands performing, supported by nearly 200 volunteers.

Building on this success, we are now looking to diversify and expand our event portfolio to increase income and reach new audiences. The Event Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our events programme, leading on the management of the existing festival and developing, planning, and executing a wider range of events – from concerts and community initiatives to potential new commercial ventures. 

The role requires a creative, entrepreneurial, and commercially minded individual with strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills. We are looking for someone with Event Management experience and excellent team and volunteer engagement knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity to further develop and grow an existing successful event alongside creating new events to raise the profile of the organisation and the charity and to generate further profit to support its work.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations and Systems Manager to join our team. As Operations and Systems Manager, you will ensure SMK’s operations are well managed, and make sure that we have all the processes, technology and policies needed to operate effectively. We’re looking for someone to take initiative to improve things where needed and bring their experience from elsewhere to the team.   

The Operations and Systems Manager will work closely with the CEO, Board and staff team of 6, and hold the relationships with our external IT, Accounting and HR providers. You will also play a key role within the organisation in shaping culture and supporting staff to carry out their roles to the best of their abilities.

Flexible and Hybrid Working

Our office base is located in central London. You need to be in the office for a minimum of 1 day per week and further Team Days and Board Away Days. Travel and accommodation for working at our London office is at the job-holders own expense. Expenses incurred for SMK business outside London are covered by the charity.

The 15hours per week can be worked flexibly across Monday to Thursday, with a preference for them to include at least part of Monday and Tuesday to accommodate our weekly team meetings (Monday mornings) and Board Meetings which occur quarterly (Tuesday afternoons)..

This role is responsible for leading a team, developing the counselling offer and contributing to systems change within the UK through social policy and research.

What You’ll Be Doing:   

• Leading and managing a team of counsellors, promoting reflection, wellbeing and innovation within the service

• Providing 1:1 therapeutic counselling service for a small number of survivors of modern slavery with complex needs

As the twin nature and climate crises continue to accelerate, communities are already feeling the effects of increased flooding, drought and soil loss. At the same time, nature disconnectedness is causing many people to feel powerless to act. This role seeks to redress that balance, by telling the stories of nature recovery from those that it is affecting directly. To give a voice to local communities and amplify these messages in ways that inspire others to take action be that through direct action, policy making, funding or wider support. 

The Temperate Rainforest Restoration Programme is a £38.9 million, 100-year programme working in a long-term partnership with Aviva. Native to the British Isles, temperate rainforest is an incredibly rare and biodiverse habitat, rarer even, than its tropical counterpart. This programme is going beyond traditional habitat restoration and creating new rainforests on eligible sites across the bioclimatic envelope (the area along our Atlantic coastline with the specific conditions needed for rainforest to thrive). 

This post will work across teams within The Wildlife Trusts’ to tell the story of this restoration and promote the importance of temperate rainforests based on connecting with people and telling their first-hand accounts of the work of Wildlife Trusts along the west of the UK, with a particular focus on Wales. This role will need to relay stories of how nature restoration benefits communities helping them adapt to our changing climate. Your work will give a voice to living memories of the land but also look ahead, effectively and compassionately communicating the need for a just transition to create more resilient landscapes that benefit future generations. 

About You 

You are a passionate science communicator with a demonstrable ability to inspire action in others for nature’s recovery. Your strong communications skills include the ability to create clear, audience-specific messaging and use digital tools to engage and connect with people wherever they are. You can build coherent narratives so that stories gather momentum over time and balance personal storytelling with the need to maintain brand consistency. JOB SUMMARY: Ensure that assigned countries received effective day-to-day HQ support. Advocating for the needs of the assigned Countries needs within the organization and ensure that programme Officers effectively coordinate communications between all departments, including compliance, programming, logistics, legal, security, human resource and communication. NICE is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with movement disorders. We work with children and adults affected by neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, Stroke and MS. We push the boundaries of human potential for people living with these physical disabilities by teaching them, through Conductive Education, a range of skills that promote an active lifestyle and showing them that there can be life after diagnosis.
