The Service Manager will be responsible for the operations of one service in Berkshire (Slough) which supports one individual to live in his own home.

The individual is a sociable and engaging man with a warm sense of humour and a deep appreciation for nature, music, and familiar company. He lives with a diagnosis of moderate learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, psychotic illness, epilepsy, and type 2 diabetes, all of which require thoughtful and consistent support. The customer has been living successfully in his current placement for over ten years, where he benefits from the continuity of staff who know him well, understand his routines, and help him maintain a sense of safety and autonomy.

The role will provide line management for a team of seven Specialist Behaviour Support Workers, ensuring that compliance with organisational, legal regulations and those of the local authority are adhered to and the quality of support is of the highest standard possible, ensuring excellent quality of life for the customer and a good working environment for colleagues.

The service has received a CQC rating of Good. The current team size includes 5 FTEs (Specialist Behaviour Support Workers) plus 2 FTEs Waking Night Support Workers, ensuring comprehensive support coverage across all shifts.

The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.

The anticipated start date for this role is October.

The initial contract duration is 6 months, with potential to become a permanent role after this period.

Reports to: Operations and Development Manager
Based from: Share Bristol Frenchay, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Lane, Bristol BS16.

Work pattern: £12.75 per hour, minimum of 12 hrs a week. The 12 hours per week are to include the following hours onsite at Share Bristol on the UWE Frenchay campus.
Core hours will be:
– Tuesdays 4:45-7:15pm
– Wednesdays 11:45-2:15pm
– Fridays 9:45-12:15pm
Other hours can be worked flexibly either on or off-site.

Oversee the Share Bristol Frenchay Library of Things, ensuring it meets the needs of the local community, and work in partnership with the rest of the Share Bristol team to ensure the success of our charity and our Library of Things service.

This role is responsible for the day to day running of the Frenchay Library of Things, recruiting and supporting our volunteers, helping us engage with partner organisations, including UWE, managing our Thing donations and inventory, and assisting our current and potential members.

We’re looking for someone to start as soon as practical, and work around 12 hours a week. The working hours will be mainly around when we are open for lending sessions. Big Issue Invest is one of the leading social impact investors in the UK and we are looking to grow the level of engagement with the social impact sector in the West Midlands and other voluntary sector organisations looking to grow their impact.
 
To do this we are looking for a new Investment Manager to be our regional representative. You will be based in the region but have the full support of the nationwide investment team.
 
We are passionate in our desire to bring more investment into the region and to build on existing networks in the regional social sector. Therefore we need someone who shares this passion and has the knowledge and skills to be able to build networks and develop investment opportunities, all backed up by a strong knowledge of the issues that Big Issue Invest exist to address alongside the wider social investment market.
 
You will be working closely with the BII Investment Team and the Combined Authority to proactively source, connect to and assess new investment opportunities that meet our criteria for investment. You will also work closely with WMCA other co-investors, accelerators, networks, etc, to build and maintain a pipeline of impact driven investment opportunities and support the strategic development of the portfolio.
 
Other key tasks include financial risk and analysis and supporting the development and refinement of the teams investment strategy.
 
You will bring an understanding of the most pressing social issues of the region and ideas on how they can be addressed, including different investment approaches. You will also have experience developing business pro-actively through networking, events and engagement with stakeholders in the region.
 
A strong understanding of debt investments and SME/corporate credit analysis and a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with other sector intermediaries and the ability to make useful connections to support social organisations will be a key requirement for this role.

The role is based remotely with ability to travel across the West Midlands. Periodic meetings will take place at the West Midlands Combined Authority offices and office space is available either at WMCA or Big Issue offices in Birmingham. Occasional travel to the Big Issue offices in Finsbury Park will also form part of performing the role.

Rescue Service: A rescue service with out of hours capacity to facilitate the safe return home, at a critical teachable moment, of under 25’s from West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, West Midlands, Merseyside, and London, where they are identified outside of their home police force area, in connection with county lines.

Job Description

• To recruit, manage, motivate, coach and develop a staff team including carrying out annual appraisals and regular supervision meetings.  To manage their health, safety and wellbeing.
• To promote and embed Catch22’s vision and values in local service delivery
• To ensure all service user information, interventions and other data as required by the contract are recorded on the relevant data management system in line with Catch22’s policy. 
• Weekly review of service data to identify any risks to service delivery, and outcome performance and put in place corrective actions.
• To be the designated safeguarding lead in the service, ensure that all safeguarding processes are followed and to be Catch22’s representative on local safeguarding boards where appropriate.
• To manage operational risk, health and safety, governance and safeguarding issues in line with Catch22 and Commissioner policies.
• Carry out regular case file audits as per the Audit Policy and Procedure and implement any service improvement or process change as a result of audit outcomes.
• To monitor referrals to the service ensuring they are in line with the volumes and eligibility criteria for the service; manage engagement with key stakeholders to promote the service and generate appropriate referrals to ensure the service / funding reaches the most appropriate young people.
• Be responsible for the allocation of referrals and ensure caseload management structures are in place including specialist female and mental health caseloads to maximise impact for young people.
• To ensure that the diverse needs and aspirations of all groups of service users are considered in service delivery and to enable all service users to fulfil their potential.
• To carry out such other relevant duties as may be required and as are commensurate with the nature and level of this post.
• When necessary, hold a small case load of high-risk clients ensuring appropriate support is given to young people according to their need who are referred by means of effective assessment and support planning.
• Provide consultation, information and where required, training and presentations, to other professionals, family and young people from a range of settings.
• Work alongside and ensure effective relationships with Children and Families services and other local agencies and treatment providers
• Liaise effectively with local partner organisations and other relevant agencies to ensure effective referrals, care and risk management as well as ease of transition and referral for young people and to promote the continued joint work of the service and other partners. Attend relevant meetings or delegate to the most appropriate caseworker to ensure Catch22’s service is fully integrated with other services.
• Work with service delivery partners to identify other professionals, statutory and non-statutory stakeholders to include in service training offer to improve awareness and impact of support for women and girls.
• To ensure meaningful participation and active co-production with service users and stakeholders.
• To promote services at local and national level, taking every opportunity to advertise positively the work of Catch22.
• Maintain and update professional knowledge and competencies ensuring that you and staff you manage are up-to date on all relevant Catch22 policies and procedures and are working in line with local and governmental frameworks such as Public Health England, Safeguarding etc. ensuring these are implemented in the service
• To manage your time and activities safely and effectively, to meet with the priorities and delivery requirements of Catch22; contributing to achieving the standards of care, quality and positive outcomes required
• To ensure effective communication and liaison with partner agencies and local groups.
• To ensure that young people, parents/carers/families have ease of access to a range of support mechanisms and services.
• To act as an ambassador for Catch22, upholding and promoting our corporate values.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification, or equivalent experience, in a relevant discipline – such as youth, community, health and social care, management.

The role:
You will take responsibility for developing and delivering investment programmes that ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, while driving long-term asset strategy.
