Your role will be to lead on operations at Action Hampshire. This will include supporting our finance team and working with our external finance company. You will contribute to our progress against our strategy. Effective operations and financial management are key to our sustainability and a key part of our strategy, so you will oversee development work to keep improving the organisation’s performance in these areas.

You will play a leadership role across the organisation, internally and externally, championing the organisation’s strategy and building strong relationships.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Finance & Operations to take ownership of all internal operations that ensure the organisation’s effectiveness, accountability, compliance, and resilience. Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Lead the financial function with strategic oversight, supported by an external accountant.
• Manage the annual audit process, acting as the lead contact for external auditors and ensuring timely preparation, accuracy, and compliance.
• Provide high-quality financial modelling, forecasts, and budget support to the wider team.
• Produce timely reports and strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board.
• Support SLT with business modelling and income planning.
• Ensure financial processes are understood and used across the team.
• Oversee payroll, bookkeeping and liaison with accountants and auditors.

People and Culture

• Lead internal culture work, embedding equity, inclusion and belonging at every level.
• Ensure team meetings, benefits, training and internal communications are coordinated and supportive.
• Work with HR legal advisors to ensure best practice policies and processes.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding and staff support in line with our values and commitments.

Governance and Compliance

• Act as the main contact for the Board and subcommittees, particularly Audit & Risk.
• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, GDPR and relevant legislation.
• Maintain governance documents and ensure timely updates and implementation.
• Embed an organisational approach to risk that is equitable, accessible and transparent.
• Act as the organisation’s Data Controller, ensuring appropriate policies and practices are in place to prioritise data safety and security. Work with external legal and data protection advisors to stay compliant with legislation and best practice.

Operations and Systems

• Be the internal champion of systems and processes, ensuring they are streamlined, understood and appropriately used by the team.
• Work with external experts and advisors to implement or refine systems as required.
• Oversee IT, digital infrastructure and tools for hybrid/remote working.
• Ensure all internal processes are designed with EDI and accessibility in mind.
• Lead continuous improvements that balance rigour with inclusion.

External Relationships

• Manage key suppliers and advisors (accountants, HR, IT, legal, payroll) to ensure value, clarity and accountability.
• Ensure external services align with our internal culture and mission.

Person Specification

• Significant experience in operational and financial management.

Hours and place of work

• This is a full-time role to be fulfilled over a 35-hour week, ideally within the working hours of Mon-Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm, with flexibility as required.
• This is a hybrid role with one day a week in our shared office space in London (Better Space, 127 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3DA), the travel costs of which must be covered by the individual. We are open to discussing this arrangement further to accommodate individual needs and preferences.
• Further UK travel will be required on occasion, the costs of which would be covered by Clore Social Leadership.

Terms, pay and benefits

• This is a permanent contract.
• Salary for this role will be ca. £55,000 p/a depending on experience.
• The post holder is entitled to 25 days of annual leave, in addition to UK statutory holidays.
• The office is closed for one week during the winter festive period (25-31 December), providing an additional three days of annual leave in addition to the above allocation.
• You have the option to join our contributory pension scheme. The employer's contribution is 3% with a minimum employee contribution of 5%.

Job Purpose:

To lead and support the delivery of high-quality mental health and wellbeing services across Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent from the Pontypool and Brynmawr offices of Mind in Gwent.

To manage, support and develop a small team of staff and volunteers to provide high-quality mental health and wellbeing services in Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent.

To develop and maintain strong, collaborative and positive relationships with local community organisations and stakeholders to enhance community reach and opportunities for service growth, sustainability and funding.

To oversee the day-to-day operations and running of the Pontypool and Brynmawr offices and services of Mind in Gwent.

To secure funding, grants and income growth in partnership with Mind in Gwent’s Income Generation and Business Development Team to improve and grow mental health and wellbeing services in Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent.

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Lead and coordinate mental health and wellbeing projects and services, ensuring they meet service user needs and align with organisational objectives.

2. Provide line management, supervision, and support to project staff and volunteers

3. Monitor and evaluate service outcomes, producing reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders such as the leadership team and funders, maintaining accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

4. Oversee the day-to-day management of Mind in Gwent’s Pontypool and Brynmawr premises, ensuring safety, accessibility, and regulatory compliance (e.g., health & safety, fire regulations) liaising with contractors, landlords, and suppliers for building maintenance and improvements.

5. Research, identify, and apply for funding opportunities including grants, tenders, and local authority commissioning, supporting budget planning and financial monitoring of funded activities.

6. Actively build and maintain relationships with funders, local community groups, statutory bodies, and other voluntary sector organisations working in collaboration to coproduce and to develop joint mental and wellbeing services, referral pathways and funding bids.

7. Represent the organisation at community events, forums, and strategic networks.

8. Ensure services are delivered in line with organisational policies, safeguarding standards, and relevant legislation.

EXPECTATIONS

About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school. 

Key Objectives for this Role

Working with the Lead Youth Worker you will: 

Homework Clubs

•Collect up to date consent information for all young people joining Future Foundations

•Support with creating session plans for club nights

•Research and source necessary resources activities 

•Support to plan and run engaging and fun activities/ongoing projects for the young people

•Use participatory methods to involve young people about Clubs 

•Ensure children’s participation and encourage ownership of and responsibility for the Clubs

•Implement our behaviour management policy

•Liaise with families/carers to communicate information regarding Clubs and Mentoring

•Support with maintaining robust recording and monitoring systems (including registers) and ensure quotes, case studies and feedback are saved and stored

•Maintain, collect, edit and store documentation of activities, including photos, case studies and videos, for Newsletters, funding reports and other records

•Maintain excellent safeguarding practices

•Support whole team with making referrals to external partners and support agencies

•Support the Lead Youth Worker with running a weekly Youth Club for post-16 young people

•Support mentor coordinator with running early years mentoring sessions, when needed

Trips and activities 

•Work with the Lead Youth Worker and Community Learning Coordinator to develop an annual programme of activity and trips during school holidays

Sustrans’ Strategy, Impact and Evidence team is a leading centre of excellence in active travel research, monitoring and evaluation and we are recruiting now. As an Evidence Officer, you will work on a range of behaviour change and infrastructure projects, providing monitoring, evaluation, and analytical support. The Strategy, Impact and Evidence teamplays an important part in supporting our vision by providing robust evidence on sustainable and active travel that ultimately influences and shapes policy, practice and behaviour across the UK.

Focusing on monitoring and evaluating the impact of infrastructure and behaviour change programmes, you will work on a range of projects around the UK and be involved in the planning, delivery, analysis and reporting of our monitoring and evaluation work. 

We offer true hybrid working, a flexible mix of working from home and occasional travel to a nearby office hub. There is minimal travel required in this role, however in the course of your work you may have to travel to one of the nominated hubs or project sites if required to do so. 

About you

You should have demonstrable quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills, and be a competent Excel user or have working knowledge of statistical software, such as R.

As an excellent communicator in both oral and written forms, you will have with the ability to present data and findings clearly. You should also have the capability to find innovative and creative solutions to problems.

You will own some experience of project management as well as delivery of project monitoring and evaluation. You should also have some experience of working and communicating with suppliers, partners and/or clients.

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members
• Supporting the Centre Manager in ensuring Spear is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services
   

Centre operations

• Support the wider Spear team and senior leadership team in developing the financial sustainability of Spear Preston e.g. gathering data for funding applications, organising community fundraising events
• Work with relevant members of the ministry team, particularly youth and student ministries to further embed Spear into the life of the church
• Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training rooms are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies and safeguarding issues are reported in a timely manner

You will be part of a team helping to transform lives by enabling young people to manage their licenses and move towards greater independence within the community. This role requires knowledge of supporting individuals with complex needs using trauma-informed approaches and working in a Psychologically Informed Environment. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About the role:

This role is based in our Ashford, Kent office.

• Managing a busy caseload of self-referrals, referred service users, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.

• Working alongside the Volunteer and Community Manager to raise awareness of the Hate Crime and the service we provide

You will need:

• An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.

Operations Support

• Guide and assist ISEAL staff in using software tools effectively by leading inductions, writing guidance, sharing best practice, providing training and trouble-shooting issues that arise
