Job description

Dove House Hospice supports patients with life-limiting illnesses in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. They provide exceptional, specialist palliative care to patients, carers, and their families.

Last year, they cared for 1,200 patients. Their mission is simple but powerful: to help families make the most of the time they have together, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

“It was a moment of grief, yes, but also one of relief. Mum was surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. And as we said our final goodbyes, we knew she was at peace. We are incredibly grateful for the care, the memories, and the love we had shared in those final days while Mum was at Dove House.” - Family member of a patient

We are thrilled to be partnering with the fabulous Dove House Hospice, to grow their fundraising team and increase their impact.

Would you like to be part of a team that raises vital funds to support patients and their families, and ensures that their services are always available for those who need them? If so, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

This a pivotal, brand-new, role that will support the thriving fundraising team. Reporting directly to the Senior Fundraiser, the main purpose of the Community Fundraising and Engagement Assistant is to raise awareness across the region, and increase income to fund vital hospice care.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Building rewarding and individually tailored life-long relationships with supporters, to ensure they feel passionate, engaged and invested in the future provision of hospice care.
  • Supporting the fundraisers to develop and promote fundraising appeals including the lottery
  • Engaging, educating, inspiring and introducing new supporters and volunteers
  • Maximising income, using a donor-centric, tailored approach

The Person

We are looking for someone with exceptional planning and organisational skills and with experience in successfully building and managing relationships. You will need to have excellent time management and prioritisation skills and be confident presenting and networking.

You should be able to effectively communicate with a diverse range of people, and deliver engaging talks and presentations. In this role you will be a proud ambassador for the hospice, and have the exciting opportunity to represent them within the local community!

Perhaps most importantly, you should align with the hospice values – being passionate, positive and professional.

Please note that this role will require a full UK driving license, access to your own vehicle, and involve travel to the hospice and surrounding area. You will also be required to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekends.

If you would like more information, or to apply for this role we would love to hear from you please contact us.

Please note: If you would like to submit an application or express your interest in an alternative format such as audio or video upload, or require any adaptations for your initial engagement with us, please contact either Charlie, Jen or Leanne who will be happy to advise on this.

Please also be aware that we use anonymous recruitment methods when submitting shortlists for all our roles and we only work with organisations that are happy to engage with us in this way.

Charity Horizons is an equal opportunities employer and as such actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from all suitable candidates irrespective of age, disability, hidden disability, race or national origin, religion or belief, gender, gender expression, political view, sexual orientation, medical condition and pregnancy.
