What we ask of you?
In order to join us as a Community Engagement Volunteer, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or over.
- Be able to volunteer for at least 3 hours per month, for at least 3 months.

- Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

Marie Curie is expanding its Community Companion service to support people at end of life in/across Bournemouth
Drawing upon their volunteer training, community knowledge and networks, Community Companions visit people identified as end of life in a place of their choosing e.g., their own home, care home, community venue or surgery etc. and empower them to decide what support if any, they would like.
Support may be a one-off activity or an ongoing engagement providing different aspects of support over a longer period of time.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The support a Community Companion provides is unique to each person and their individual circumstances, but is likely to include:
- visiting people identified as end of life in a place of their choosing and outlining the support that is available to them and to the people closest to them
- providing emotional support to people at end of life and the people closest to them
- providing practical information, support, and signposting to other local services to people at end of life and the people closest to them
- supporting and empowering people at end of life to create an advanced care plan (ACP) which considers, documents, and clearly communicates what is important to them
- providing carer support including pre and post bereavement support, ensuring the right local provision-based support is in place for people within caring roles
- providing support around fuel poverty and accessing available resources
- promoting the Community Companion service within the local community
- completing and returning a short report at the end of each session
- attending and participating in regular volunteer wellbeing sessions, team meetings, and refresher training

Make a difference in your community
As a Community Champion volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping us raise funds and awareness to support people with complex disabilities. You’ll engage with individuals, local businesses, and groups to share our mission, organise events, and inspire others to take action. Whether you’re great at public speaking, planning events, or connecting with your community, this role has something for you.
What does the role involve
- Fundraising: Organise and participate in events like bake sales or charity walks to support Sense’s work.
- Community Outreach: Raise awareness about our mission through conversations, presentations, and social media.
- Relationship Building: Develop partnerships with local businesses, groups, and other supporters.

• Depending upon agreed actions, Panellists may be asked to dedicate some time to activities within the community, or for the charity outside of the meetings.
• Should exceptional circumstances arise, there may be a need for additional meetings, but this will be a rare occurrence.
• A chair and vice-chair will be elected by the members every 3 years and holders may serve a maximum of 6 years in total in either role.
What training will you be given?
You will be given a basic induction to the Charity and some basic compliance training to allow you to undertake your role.

Role Description

There has been a 10% increase in sexual exploitation and sex trafficking against children (NSPCC 2022), and 99% of victims in the commercial sex industry are female (Unseen). We desire to provide free training so as many women and girls are trained, enabling increased protection against this horrific crime.
As a volunteer fundraiser, you’ll be instrumental in the organisation securing the essential funds that allow Emerge Worldwide to reach more people, including supporting and empowering victims and survivors. Your efforts will directly contribute to us offering services to the most vulnerable people.
What are we looking for?
We’re seeking volunteers with experience in fundraising, fundraising research to help drive our fundraising efforts and expand our support network, including sponsorship. Any experience in bid writing is desirable. We are also seeking volunteers who have event planning and project planning experience.

No previous experience is needed! We will provide you with all the training for the role and other courses are available for your own personal growth! We have weekly meetings in Rugby, Nuneaton and Bedworth - whichever is more convenient for you!
Candidates from Rugby will be interviewed at our unit in Rugby, candidates from Nuneaton and Bedworth will be interviewed at our unit in Nuneaton. Exact dates and times will be communicated to the successful candidates.
Successful candidates will be invited to atttend our unit meeting nights and an introduction to SJA and the network will be given. Support will be given to get new volunteers set up quickly and straight onto the training course which will be held in late Spring.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education.
We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.
Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.
Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.
We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. We will contact you with provisional interview dates if your application is successful, but please include your availability in your application (for example if you are only available on certain days of the week).
The training for this role will involve a two day in-person training course which will take place at St John Ambulance Halesowen, Manor Way, Halesowen, B62 8RW, as well as pre-learning online. You will be supported throughout the training process by the Network Leadership Team and your induction buddy, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Network meetings will take place every other Monday evening at St John Ambulance, Manor Way, Halesowen, B62 8RW. Community First Aiders would be expected to attend the majority of these sessions in order to maintain their level of training, interact with the Network, and help to organise key Network activity. Volunteers in this role are expected to deliver at least 80 hours of community delivery a year. This can include community first aid, education, or fundraising.
