Volunteering for Health is a NHS funded programme to build the capacity and capability of organisations and local health and care systems in England, through the development of volunteering infrastructure. It aims to realise the potential of volunteering in improving the experience and outcomes of people using our health and care systems.

Following a successful bid by Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) as part of a partnership with NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHL Group), NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, and Liverpool City Council we are recruiting for a Volunteering for Health Development Officer to support the partnership in its intention to:

• Establish a robust volunteering infrastructure to address identified health needs and priorities

About the Departments:

Both roles sit within the Cathedral and Church Buildings (CCB) Department, which supports the care and sustainable development of the Church of England's 42 cathedrals and 16,000 church buildings, of which 12,500 are listed, to help fulfil the vision and strategy of the Church of England. It also supports dioceses with the disposal of church buildings no longer required for worship and finding them a new future. Through advice, guidance, advocacy and fundraising, the Department provides strategic support on conservation and caring for historic church buildings, making change to support worship and communities, and working towards Net Zero Carbon 2030. Members of the Department engage with dioceses, parishes and cathedral teams, as well as nationally with government, agencies, charities, funders, General Synod and across the National Church Institutions to make the case for church buildings and their vital role in worship, community and national life.

Buildings for Mission team

The Buildings for Mission project is an initiative of the Department funded by the Church Commissioners from the 2023-25 triennium allocations. It is providing £11m of support to dioceses and parishes through advice and grants, structured around three main activities. The Church Buildings Support Officers (CBSO) Grant Scheme supports salary and related costs for new posts to provide advice to parishes on repair and maintenance and on developing the wider use and support for churches through community engagement. The Minor Repairs and Improvements Grants Fund is devolving £6.2m to dioceses to distribute in the form of grants for urgent and necessary small-scale repair projects or improvement projects. The Church Buildings Management Partnerships (CBMPs) initiative aims at the formation of partnerships to provide maintenance and insurance services to member churches. Pilot projects are being grant-aided over the period 2025-26.

The Grants Officer role within the Buildings for Mission team will provide a responsive service for the grant schemes under the Buildings for Mission initiative:

• The Church Buildings Support Officers (CBSO) Grant Scheme,
• The Minor Repairs and Improvements Grants Fund, and
• The Church Buildings Management Partnerships (CBMP) pilots.

Net Zero Carbon Programme

The Net Zero Carbon Programme was established to help the Church of England to deliver its commitment to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It aims to aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030. The team manages the distribution of a grant portfolio worth £190 million across 2023-31, aimed at supporting and equipping dioceses, parishes and other parts of the Church to reach the milestones set out in the Routemap to Net Zero 2030.

The Grants Officer role within the Net Zero Carbon programme will play a vital role in supporting the work of the Net Zero Carbon Programme's grant streams, supporting it in delivering a consistent and responsive service to grantees.

In both roles, duties will include:

• Assisting the Grants Manager with general operation and oversight of the schemes
• Providing a knowledgeable and responsive service to dioceses as first point of contact for the grant schemes
• Handling general enquiries and pre-application engagement, assessing and responding to expressions of interest from prospective applicants
• Handling a caseload of live grants

Key role requirements:

• For the Buildings for Mission role, the post-holder will be required to come into the primary office location (Church House) or another NCI or diocesan office location (subject to agreement with relevant office management) a minimum of one day per week.
• For the Net Zero Carbon Programme role, the post-holder will required to be home-based, with regular meetings in Church House Westminster and occasional travel elsewhere (up to two days per month).
• These are both fixed-term contracts, Buildings for Mission team (12 month contract) and Net Zero Carbon Programme (12 month contract). There is a possibility that these contract lengths could be extended to the end of 2028, but this is dependant on further funding being agreed.
• You will need to have knowledge/experience of historic and/or natural environment conservation or heritage management OR experience working in the environment or sustainability sector (depending on which role you choose to apply for).
• Both roles require good written/spoken communication skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work well both on own initiative and good analytical skills.

Your Salary

• A salary of £40,572 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

The role

As the breadth and volume of our fundraising activity has grown over the last couple of years, an opportunity has arisen for a detail orientated and enthusiastic individual to join our database team. This role will be line managed by the Database Manager, with a dotted line to the Senior Database Officer to ensure the smooth running of our income processing activity, making a significant impact for the charity, and enabling excellent supporter care.

The team

Our dynamic fundraising department are preparing for an ambitious multimillion-pound campaign in support of a ground-breaking cancer centre on the site of the Royal Free Hospital. We pride ourselves on being a supporter focused and agile function, working at the heart of the charity to deliver impact for patients and staff across our hospitals.

Responsible for attracting and retaining donors, and delivering an outstanding supporter experience, the fundraising department comprises two teams which work closely together to achieve our shared objectives:

- Our Public Fundraising team harnesses the support and energy of individuals and groups, helping them to give back in the way that works for them. This includes committed giving, in memory support, gifts in wills, and fundraising events and challenges. Our Philanthropy and Campaign teams builds relationships with individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, and corporate organisations which give, or have potential to give, £10,000 to the charity each year. They lead major appeal activity for the charity, currently focused on our exciting cancer campaign which is due to launch in 2025.

- Our database team sit within Fundraising, with their work underpinning and supporting the entire department.

About Alexandra Rose Charity 

Founded by Queen Alexandra in 1912, Alexandra Rose Charity (ARC) has a long history of supporting people experiencing poverty in the UK. Our vision is for everyone to have access to healthy and affordable food, and our mission is to give families on low incomes access to fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities whilst advocating for systemic change to address food insecurity and health inequalities.
Since 2014, ARC has pioneered the use of financial incentives to improve access to healthy food and combat food insecurity through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects. To date, we have supported over 11,000 families, including over 20,000 children, to access £3.5 million of fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities.
To deliver this scale, we work with 73 children and family centres and community organisations, 69 market traders and independent retailers, two fruit and vegetable vans and one fruit and vegetable delivery box scheme. We estimate that our projects have generated a total economic value added of almost £9 million for the local economies of the eight locations where we work: five London Boroughs, Barnsley, Liverpool and Glasgow.   
As part of our new five-year strategy, we want to grow our reach and impact as part of a national movement where Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg projects are embedded in local and national policies and seen as a key intervention for transforming the diets of communities across the UK.

About the role
ARC is a data-rich organisation, having made significant progress in our data analytics activities in recent years. Using the CRM Socialsuite , we have developed sophisticated project performance dashboards, which are critical in supporting both our delivery and reporting efforts. About the role

We are seeking a proactive and organised Finance Officer to join our small, friendly team for 1 day per week (0.2 FTE) on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of home and occasional office-based working from our base in Hackney. 

Reporting to the Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and accurate management of our finances. You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial reporting, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your finance skills within a supportive environment where your contribution will have a direct impact. 

We’re looking for an experienced finance administrator or officer with a strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting, ideally within a charity, social enterprise or small business. You’ll possess exceptional numerical skills, a keen eye for detail, and excellent organisational and time management abilities. You’ll also be a proactive problem-solver with a warm and friendly communication style and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

 Key Responsibilities

 Strategic Communications

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Kent Community Foundation’s strategic goals.
• Act as an advisor to the Chief Executive and senior management team on all matters of reputation, media, and stakeholder engagement.
• Monitor sector developments and identify opportunities for proactive thought leadership.
• Lead crisis and issues communications with sensitivity and professionalism.

Content Creation & Management

• Oversee the creation of engaging, accessible, and mission-aligned content for a range of audiences, including funders, grantees and partners
• Lead the production of key publications (e.g. annual reports, impact stories, newsletters).
• Ensure content is inclusive, audience-appropriate, and drives engagement.

Brand Management

• Champion Kent Community Foundation’s brand, ensuring consistency of tone, visual identity, and messaging across all touchpoints.
• Manage brand assets and oversee their use internally and externally.
• Continuously evolve brand guidelines to reflect the Foundations values and ambition.

 

Digital Communications

• Lead the development and optimisation of Kent Community Foundation’s digital presence, including website, email marketing, and social media.
• Drive digital engagement through analytics-informed strategies.
• Oversee the content strategy to ensure the website serves both operational and promotional needs.
• Identify and implement new tools and platforms that enhance Kent Community Foundation’s digital outreach.

Media Relations & PR

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and sector-specific media.
• Draft press releases, opinion pieces, and media responses.
• Act as the primary media contact and spokesperson where appropriate.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Line manage communications staff and freelancers/agencies.
• Work closely with development, grants, and operations teams to support cross-functional initiatives.
• Provide training and guidance to colleagues on communications best practices.

• Significant experience in a senior communications role, ideally within the charity, public, or purpose-driven sector.
• Proven track record in developing and delivering integrated communications strategies.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong digital expertise, including website management, email campaigns, and social media.
• Experience in managing brand identity and delivering consistent messaging.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams and collaborate effectively across functions.

About the role

We are seeking an Administration Officer to join our small and friendly team on a part-time basis (15 hours a week) ideally working 5 half-days, Monday to Friday (3 hours each day) but the exact working pattern is negotiable. 

As our Administration Officer, you will play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day operations of our organisation. Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for a diverse range of administrative tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy across our various service areas. 

You'll be a central point of contact and support, working collaboratively to ensure the effective delivery of our services. You'll expertly manage referrals and information, develop positive relationships with referrers, colleagues, and service users, and handle vital office operations. Your organisational skills will also be key in supporting internal team functions, from HR processes to the coordination of meetings and training, and in maintaining efficient resource management.

To thrive in this role, you will bring proven experience in office administration, ideally gained within a fast-paced environment such as a small business, charity, or social enterprise. Success will require you to be highly organised, adept at managing your time and prioritising tasks effectively, all while maintaining a keen eye for detail and accuracy, even when juggling multiple responsibilities across different service areas. 

Strong IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online project management tools, are essential. Beyond your technical abilities, you will be someone who proactively identifies and resolves issues, contributes to improving our ways of working, and supports your colleagues.
