This is National Lottery funded role in a growing charity representing children and young people affected by the neuropsychiatric conditions PANS and PANDAS. 

The purpose of this role is to work closely with our established Youth Board to ensure that the voices of young people affected by PANS and PANDAS are heard, valued, and reflected in our work.

The successful applicant will support the Youth Board in identifying, developing, and delivering one or more youth-led projects that align with their priorities and lived experiences.

Sands offers support to anyone affected by the death of a baby. 

Our volunteers are incredible! They run peer support, community-based activity, build relationships with hospitals, run football teams, cheer at events and much more. Putting them first and enabling the activity they deliver is the primary goal of the Community and Volunteering Team.

Sands has over 120 peer support groups (run through Groups or Teams), over 100 Hospital Liaison Volunteers and many more volunteers who support with organising, running, and fundraising for local activity. But we know that there are still communities where in person, localised support for those impacted by pregnancy and baby loss doesn’t exist and where we want to grow. As well as invest in the experience and support for existing volunteers.

Allowing them to be able to focus on what’s most important, the activity they deliver in their community. With experience of coordinating volunteering programme on a regional or national basis, you will be passionate and knowledgeable about the potential for volunteering within the charity sector.

We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the development/digital marketing team for a twelve month fixed term contract.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Digital Developer, the Full-stack Developer will help to make a mark on the transformation and future proofing of all Association websites and microsites whilst helping the development/digital marketing team.

A mission-driven and impact focused single programme NGO is seeking a Finance Business Partner with strong financial modelling skills for a part-time, fully remote fixed term contract for approximately 4-6 months. The role is to support the Finance Director, HR team, CEO and other stakeholders with business partnering, along with specific financial modelling projects.

The organisation’s mission is to get 3-6 year old children in rural Africa to thrive. They have developed an award-winning Early Childhood Development programme, proven its impact through rigorous evaluation, and scaled it with governments in both Ghana and Uganda. It is currently reaching over 300,000 children per year, and we aim to reach 1 million children per year by 2028. The programme benefits both preschool age children and unlocks the potential of marginalised rural parents.

You will work in a busy finance team based in the UK, Ghana and Uganda. The role can be done fully-remotely from within the UK, and the salary range on offer is circa £50,000 - £60,000 FTE (pro-rata). It is anticipated there will be around 2-3 days work per week for approximately 4-6 months.

Experience within a business partnering / modelling role within the NGO sector would be very useful, but is not essential.

Duties include:

• Work focused on adaptions for new contexts: The programme targets rural communities in Ghana and Uganda. This year the organisation plans to scale to a new country and to test ways to adapt it for this new context. They are also keen to explore whether the programme can be adapted for refugee settings.
• Financial modelling focused on selecting a new country to launch the programme
• Specific cost modelling and fundraising modelling around the corporate sponsorship of the organisation’s radio station project

• Develop and strengthen robust and flexible cost models (including sensitivity analyses/stress testing) to guide decisions around the pace and rate of scale, staffing & resource requirements (HR), ensure value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.
• Develop robust budgets for new and renewal funder applications, considering complexities around funder restrictions, currency exchange and forecast economic conditions.
• Analysis and modelling on organisational procedures & policies and capacity building projects

Requirements:

• Fully or part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent
• Demonstrable experience with finance business partnering to a range of stakeholders
• Strong financial modelling skills – ideally in things such as cost analysis, funding analysis etc
• Intermediate/advanced Excel and strong data analysis skills
• An understanding of international charity finance - donor reporting, programmes finance, foreign currency transactions is useful
• Experience juggling multiple projects at once

About the Role

This is a permanent position, offered on a full-time or part-time basis (five or four days per week). While primarily home-based, the successful candidate will be required to work on a hybrid basis for the initial months (1-2 times a week in the office in Farnham, Surrey).

Although high-level executive support is a key component of this role, it is far more than diary management. The Executive Assistant will become a trusted member of our client’s small team, helping to develop and maintain streamlined administrative systems, supporting the setup and oversight of grants, coordinating meetings and hybrid events across different time zones, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. From managing expense claims and grant documentation to planning international gatherings and ensuring follow-through on action points, this is a varied and essential role.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Executive Assistant, supporting a CEO and senior management team—ideally within a charity, trust, or foundation. They will bring significant experience in diary management, event coordination, and committee servicing, and be a confident and efficient minute taker. Highly organised, proactive, and adaptable, the post holder will have the ability to plan well, build relationships, and be comfortable in taking the initiative. The new EA will be comfortable using a wide range of digital tools and platforms (including MS Word and Excel, CRM databases, SharePoint, MS Teams, Zoom, and project management applications). First Steps ED provide person-centred support to our service users for a range of disordered eating and eating disorder presentations.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will lead on the development and implementation of strategies to diversify and grow our income streams, strengthen our brand, and increase engagement with key audiences. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the postholder will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships across trusts and foundations, corporate partners, individual donors, and community supporters. This role will also oversee all aspects of external communications and marketing, ensuring a consistent and compelling voice for the organisation across digital, print, media, and stakeholder channels.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will provide line management and strategic direction to the fundraising and communications team, with accountability for delivering income targets and enhancing the charity’s profile and impact.

Role Overview:

Some of the area you are expected to work on are the following, and the rest can be defined by you:

• Budgets and Targets: You are directly responsible for the budgets, and income targets attached to Fundraising and Communications.
• Engagement and Income Diversification: Develop and implement strategies to diversify income streams, including legacy giving, corporate partnerships, individual donations, and major donors.
• Marketing and Communications Strategy: Create and implement strategies to reach a wider audience through innovative marketing and communications channels.
• NHS and Private Sector Opportunities: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the NHS and private sector.
• Relationship Management: Manage key relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
• Team Leadership: Manage and support Fundraising, Marketing and Communications officers, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and charity objectives overall.
• Lead our flagship campaigns: This year we are developing an online campaign, currently called Scroll Safe, to tackle the issues with online safety, we are included in the parliamentary act, and we wish this to be a multi-year campaign. It is in development for 2025, and you are expected to hit the ground running. Other campaigns include Eating Disorder Awareness Week, and Christmas.
• Digital Agency and PR Management: Oversee the work of digital agencies and PR consultant to enhance online presence and engagement with public relations and media outreach.
• Ambassadors and Patrons Management: Engage and manage relationships with ambassadors and patrons to leverage their support and influence.
• Web Development Leadership: Lead the development and maintenance of the charity's website to ensure it effectively supports fundraising and communication efforts as well as providing clear and concise support to our service users, carers and professionals.
• Manage our portfolio of events: We have an emerging trend in challenge events, and we manage these carefully and mindfully especially long-distance sporting events. This requires key insights in trends and work with our marketing team on key insights.
• Working with the CEO: You will identify opportunities for strategic communications and growth. You will network with likeminded individuals from other charities and build sector connections.
• Senior Leadership Team: You will be an integral part of our Senior Leadership Team, which means working across the whole charity on tasks that may pop up, and planning with the team our Organisational Development.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a senior fundraising and communications role, preferably within the charity sector.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Relationship Management, or a related field.

Skills:

• Strong strategic planning and implementation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
