About the role

We are looking for a Training & Youth Participation Officer for our UK Safeguarding on Transport Project. This is a Hybrid role with some home working and requires frequent travel and overnight stays across the UK.  

As a Training and Participation Officer you will be responsible for the delivery of face to face and online training to various stakeholders and groups within the transport community ensuring that our partners and colleagues become our ‘eyes and ears’ in responding to and reporting safeguarding and vulnerability concerns. Through engagement with such partners and community members you will be responsible for delivering training and consultancy activities relating to safeguarding and provision of services to vulnerable children, young people and adults.

Being comfortable with public engagement events, leading training and working as part of multi-agency safeguarding action groups isa must as well as being able to engage and support the young people who form part of our Youth Forum and national Youth Participation.

You’ll play a key role in the development of our UK Programme and part of a dynamic team delivering Railway Children’s programme in the UK.

What we’re looking for

You will have a relevant training or teaching qualification with experience of delivering and developing inclusive, engaging & high-quality training.  Alongside this were looking for someone with experience of e-learning platforms and working with awarded bodies, working with a wide range of audiences and collating feedback

An experienced professional who has worked with vulnerable children and young people previously gaining user voices and feedback in a trauma informed way.  

Someone with a good understanding of the issues that affect children and young people and how this can be best incorporated into training – lived experience of accessing services will be welcomed

You will have the ability to be creative, and solution orientated who can create accessible learning materials and use methods that will engage adults whose primary role is not safeguarding

The role of the Project Officer – CSO Services will lead on the coordination and management of international pro bono legal opportunities.. We are recruiting a Capital Projects Manager to join our capital projects team, who are responsible for working with our regional funding teams across England  to deliver our strategy It Starts with Community and the ambitions of our England Portfolio. The role will advise, support and monitor the delivery of live projects alongside our Funding Officers and Managers working in across the Yorkshire & Humber, North East & Cumbria and North West.

When we support capital projects, by which we mean land, buildings and their improvement / refurbishment, we seek to reflect the needs of local communities and the environment. This means that we will fund a wide range of capital projects, from small scale modernisations to new community buildings or landscapes.

• You will be a key part of a small team providing grant making support to ensure that advice is given where it matters most across our regional teams.
• You will provide in-depth advice on land and building projects throughout the whole lifecycle of our grant making (pre-application, assessment, decision making, grant management and build, and learning).
• You will strive for continuous improvement in a capital grant making processes; working with colleagues from other teams to develop and update guidance and practice within the Fund.
• You will have strong attention to detail as you will be responsible for risk management, budget, decision-making and quality assurance activities associated with supporting the delivery of capital funding by Funding Officers.
• Your excellent people management skills will be important as you work with Funding Officers in England to nurture, inspire and empower them,
• Your project management skills will be equally solid, with an ability to delegate when necessary, and your decision-making will be informed by robust analysis and critical assessment. You will have a commitment to delivering excellent customer service and use feedback to improve what we do whilst also drawing on your own learning and experience.

Essential criteria

• BSc / BA qualification (or equivalent experience) in a construction, property management or another environment related discipline
• Experience of working in an advisory capacity within the field of construction and or community projects
• Experience of building capability and expertise in others and providing ongoing support and communicating technical issues in an accessible way.
• Experience of the full lifecycle of capital projects including planning, design, cost estimates, procurement, project and contract management, risk controls and relevant statutory legislation.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of grant making in the charity sector.
• Experience of developing and managing budgets and projects.
• Experience or knowledge of the following would be useful: accessible environments, habitat creation or management, and energy conservation in buildings.

This is the gap that London CLT successfully bridges, working with local people to create genuinely and permanently affordable homes and community spaces, putting Londoners back in charge of how their neighbourhoods positively develop.

Proud to be at the forefront of the Community Land Trust (CLT) movement, we were the first CLT in the capital to sell homes, starting with our flagship project at St Clements in Tower Hamlets with 23 homes, and then continuing with our first direct development at Citizens House in Lewisham with 11 homes. We also currently have projects across 6 London boroughs, with 34 homes built to date and a pipeline of 100+ new homes in development.

We are looking for an individual who will ensure that the effective day-to-day operations and communications of London CLT run smoothly. Providing vital support across administration, governance, HR and project delivery, acting as a central point of contact for London CLT and taking ownership of our communications strategy, developing an annual communications plan and producing well-targeted, engaging content and communications for members and other priority audiences.

You will bring strong experience in operations, office management, administration and communications, ideally in the non-profit or social enterprise sector, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and feel confident with IT and Office systems.

It would also be helpful and advantageous if you have experience working with community-led organisations, an understanding of social justice and community development principles or bring lived experience of housing challenges or connection to communities affected by the housing crisis.

• act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on media relations and building our reputation
