Responsibilities typically include: 

• Acting as a first point of contact for enquiries: (email/calendar management and phone calls, managing diaries 

• Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence. 

• Miscellaneous tasks to support the CEO which will vary according to projects and tasks but could include fundraising, event planning, social media, community outreach, press & PR. 

• Managing databases and filing systems. 

• Implementing and maintaining procedures/policies & administrative systems 

• Forming a relationship with our clients as they are part of the community. 

Essential skills for this role are:

This volunteer role gives you the chance to lead our digital infrastructure, using Microsoft 365 tools to improve how we operate and collaborate. You’ll build your IT coordination experience within a mission-driven charity, enjoying flexible remote working and joining a supportive, values-led community that truly values your contribution.

What will you be doing (role overview)?:

You will lead the setup and management of Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook. You’ll manage IT onboarding and offboarding for volunteers, provide approachable support for IT queries, and migrate data from legacy cloud platforms. Additionally, you will develop clear user guides, ensure compliance with UK GDPR and cybersecurity standards, and offer strategic advice on IT procurement to help improve our operational efficiency.

You are confident administering Microsoft 365 and handling cloud data migration, with solid knowledge of data protection and cybersecurity. You communicate clearly and enjoy supporting non-technical users. You’re organised, proactive, self-motivated, and passionate about applying your IT skills to a meaningful cause. Position Overview:
The Programme Specialist is critical in supporting the delivery of a high-impact employability and skills development programme. Working under the guidance of the Programme Lead, this position focuses on coordinating projects, managing participant engagement, and ensuring the smooth execution of training initiatives, mentorship activities, and job placement efforts. The Programme Specialist directly empowers individuals to achieve workforce readiness and sustainable employment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Coordination:

   • Assist in managing day-to-day activities of the programme, including onboarding, skills assessments, and skills development of participants.

   • Track progress against programme milestones (e.g., participant enrollment and completion rates) and flag delays to the Programme Lead.

2. Participant Support:

   • Serve as a primary point of contact for participants, addressing inquiries and providing guidance on programme resources, training modules, and job search tools.

   • Maintain accurate participant records, including attendance, skill assessments, and post-program outcomes.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:

   • Support the Programme Lead in building relationships with internal stakeholders.

4. Data Management & Reporting:

   • Collect and analyse data on participant progress, employment outcomes, and programme effectiveness using CRM systems or databases.

   • Prepare regular reports for the Programme Lead to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact to funders/stakeholders.

5. Logistics & Compliance:

IAPWA was founded in 2009 and aims to provide protection and improve the welfare of animals in need. We exist for the benefit of the animals who need our help and are driven by those who are passionate about providing this lifeline. Our achievements have and continue to be possible through the combined dedication of everyone within the IAPWA team who enable us to make an impact through the collective action we take.

THE ROLE

In February this year, we launched the pilot for our Youth Ambassador Programme, encouraging students between 11-18 to sign up and work towards becoming a Youth Ambassador for the charity through fundraising, raising awareness and animal welfare advocacy. We received a significant interest and are now in a position to have a super successful first full run out of the programme starting in September 2025.

As the Education Partnerships Assistant, you will be aiding the Partnerships Manager in running and growing this year’s programme, while also developing a new programme aimed at schools rather than individuals called the Educator Partner Programme, where schools and education institutions work towards being recognized as an IAPWA Educator Partner.

The role will involve:

• Youth Ambassador Programme Support: Assisting with the day-to-day coordination of the IAPWA Youth Ambassador Programme, including supporting young people aged 11–18 as they complete their activities and challenges to achieve ambassador status.
• Event and Presentation Assistance: Helping to organise and attend school visits, presentations, and award ceremonies, including communicating with schools and coordinating with community supporters.
• Volunteer Engagement: Communicating with Youth Ambassadors and their families, celebrating their achievements, and maintaining positive and inspiring engagement throughout their journey with the programme
• Content Creation: Supporting the creation of Youth Ambassador Programme resources, certificates, welcome packs, and promotional content.
• Educator Partner Programme Development: Assisting in the development of the new Educator Partner Programme for schools and educational institutions, including planning activities, recognition criteria, and outreach strategies.
• Promotion and Outreach: Supporting the promotion of both education programmes through social media, email campaigns, and direct communication with schools, students, and local communities.
• Administration: Maintaining accurate records of participants, communications, and achievements, and ensuring timely responses to enquiries.
• Feedback and Reporting: Gathering feedback from participants and schools to help improve the programmes and compiling monthly updates to share progress with the Partnerships Manager.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours of commitment per week across Monday and Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

SurvivorsUK exists for men and non-binary people who have experienced sexual abuse, sexual assault or rape, or any survivor who thinks we’re the right service for them.

We support – by providing services such as a helpline, counselling, ISVA and groupwork.

We provide emotional support, information and signposting to survivors and anyone worried about someone they know, through a national website and webchat service (open until 8pm most evenings). Last year, 2,600 people contacted us via our webchat services and social media.

In London, we are the only organisation providing specialist services for men and boys, including individual counselling and therapeutic group work. Across London, we provide the capital’s only Independent Sexual Advisor (ISVA) Service that helps men and boys through the criminal justice system.

Time Commitment

Usually there are six Board of Trustee meetings and one AGM per year. In addition, Trustees are expected to be part of a Board sub-committee.

Board meetings are generally held in the evening.

Trustees are also expected to attend occasional training and public or private events, e.g. supporter/fundraising events, strategic away days etc.

What we need from you

This is a eally flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

About Citizens Advice East Berkshire
Citizens Advice East Berkshire offers crucial help and advice when people need it most. No one but Citizens Advice sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives us a unique insight into the challenges people are facing today. 

What will you be doing?
We are at an important stage in our development and we are seeking a new Chair to replace our current Chair who will be standing down as her term finishes. We have ambitious plans for our future and we are looking for a Chair who can help drive our mission forward.

Building on our successes to date, we want a new Chair to lead us through the next exciting phase of our journey. You will have a strong background and track record of providing leadership at board and/or senior executive level and will have a passion for supporting people facing tough life challenges. You should have the judgement and vision to operate effectively at strategic level and you should demonstrate the skills and expertise to help drive our mission forward. We are looking for someone with 3 years+ professional experience in one of the fields of Fundraising strategy, Governance, Operations management or Advice / Advocacy. 

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within an organisation
• Successful track record of achievement through their career
• Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees
• Passion for supporting people facing tough life challenges
• Ideally has served as a Chair or Vice Chair and is familiar with leading a Board

You’ll need to:

• Understand the type of work undertaken by a local Citizens Advice and the Citizens Advice network
• Understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities of a trustee
• Be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
• Have a good basis of leadership skills (and preferably you have served within a Board, ideally as Chair or Vice Chair or led a Committee)
• Have the ability to facilitate and lead meetings
• Have good interpersonal skills
• Have good listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Be able to exercise good independent judgment
• Have good numeracy skills to understand accounts with the support of the treasurer
• Be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection
• Be willing to undertake mandatory training in your role
• Line manage and support the Chief Executive Officer

Citizens Advice East Berkshire makes transformational differences to people who need support when facing life crises. As Chair you will play a significant part in ensuring we are able to expand and grown our services to make a significant difference to many more individuals and families. 

Research is an important part of our work at Helen Bamber Foundation and enables us to understand our clients’ experiences and how they can be best supported. We produce evidence, which we use alongside learning from our services, to try to change law, policy and practice across different organisations and authorities such as the NHS and Home Office. Everyone in the sector can then use our evidence to drive positive change and improve support for Survivors. 

Much of our research has a clinical focus, such as exploring new types of therapeutic approaches. We also carry out systematic reviews of existing evidence about health conditions and their management and interview-based studies of the lived experience and health impact of aspects of forced migration (such as the mental health impact of detention and of quasi-detention accommodation). We conduct research addressing legal, counter-trafficking and policy issues such as the difficulties experienced during the ‘transition’ period after people gain leave to remain . We are working to increase involvement of and co-production with people who have expertise by lived experience (including our clients and former clients) in our research programme.

Research helps us achieve our goals of securing legal protection for survivors, increasing access to appropriate care and preventing re-trafficking. 

We are looking for a volunteer to support the research team to progress a variety of research projects.  

Main tasks and activities  

• Assisting the research team with ad-hoc administrative research tasks, including data management and research project tracking

• Making research recruitment calls and speaking to clients about research opportunities 

• Translating research papers into accessible summaries and creative content

• Contributing to data extraction and analysis across a number of research projects

• Editing and reviewing research papers to prepare them to be submitted for publication

Skills and experience needed 

• Understanding of, and commitment to, the objectives of the Helen Bamber Foundation; 

• A demonstrable empathy for our vulnerable clients, including people seeking asylum, refugees and survivors of torture and trafficking; 

• Some knowledge of the challenges facing vulnerable clients including people seeking asylum, refugees and survivors of torture, trafficking; 

• Strong interest in research and its potential to contribute to positive change for our client group

• Ability to think critically about research, and to be mindful of the ethical dilemmas and complexities surrounding doing research with survivors

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage own time and workload, and to prioritise a range of competing demands; 

• Ability to translate complex and technical academic writing into accessible content

Desirable

• Experience analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data

• Strong writing and editing skills, and previous experience of writing academic papers or non-academic reports

• An interest in participatory research methods and co-production and in centering lived-experience within research
