About Make a Smile

At Make a Smile, we believe every child deserves joy and support. We work with local communities and volunteers to bring smiles to children through events, activities, and fundraising initiatives. The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised Fundraising Manager to lead and coordinate fundraising efforts across the charity. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, being creative with fundraising ideas, and supporting others to reach their potential.

The Fundraising Manager will:

• Lead central fundraising initiatives – from online raffles, charity dinners, and quizzes to innovative campaigns like our Make a Smile Lottery.

• Support Fundraising Officers in local chapters by providing guidance, resources, and ensuring fundraising activities are legally compliant.

• Manage online fundraising platforms (EasyFundraising and People’s Fundraising), ensuring they’re up to date and well-utilised across the charity.

• Collaborate with our Media Team to promote fundraising activities through engaging social media campaigns (e.g., “Fundraising Friday”).

• Oversee the Gaming Subcommittee, helping volunteers plan gaming socials and fundraisers.

• Build partnerships with organisations, including community groups, supermarkets, and themed organisations like Star Wars Garrisons, to run events and access grant schemes.

• Track and monitor progress, ensuring that both central and chapter-level fundraising goals are met.

Time Commitment

WHO ARE WE?

Palmed Academy, the education arm of Palmed UK, is training the next generation of healthcare workers in Gaza. There is an extreme shortage of health workers and limited educational opportunities for medical, dental, and nursing students in Gaza. 

We aim to provide medical, nursing, and dental students with the resources, training, and opportunities to advance their education and become the future healthcare workforce in the Gaza Strip. We do this using a hybrid learning model - an online learning platform supported by international faculty to supplement on-the-ground clinical teaching by local faculty and healthcare workers.

This program is entirely free for the students. It costs about USD 150 / month to produce One Future Healthcare Worker through this program.

OUR IMPACT 

2100 Palestinian medical students are continuing their undergraduate education through GEM’s hybrid model. We have expanded to include nursing and dental  programs. 200 new doctors graduated in Gaza in January 2025, and our first cohort of nurses is set to follow in summer 2025.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

Palmed Academy is seeking a talented web designer to volunteer with us in building a new website. This is a great opportunity to showcase your creativity, build your portfolio, and contribute to an educational initiative that makes a real impact.

Our current website has a complex back-end interface that is difficult to manage. We are looking for a web designer to build us a new website using a no-code or low-code web design tool (e.g., Squarespace, or similar), ensuring it has a clean and simple back-end interface. Once built, the site should be easy to update by volunteers with no coding knowledge, so that content changes and updates can be managed smoothly by our team. This is a short-term project that should ideally be completed within 3-6 months, depending on the volunteer's availability. 

Skills required

• Experience designing websites with no-code tools, e.g., Squarespace 
• Strong eye for design, layout, and user experience.
• Be able to make the site responsive across devices.
• Create a clear handover process for future maintainers.
• Be collaborative, patient, and motivated by making a positive impact.

Who are we looking for?

At present we are working towards being fully operational, over the next year Living Reasons will be looking to expand its reach and part of that journey is to recruit volunteers to ensure the organisation can be carried out and that individual volunteer needs are accounted for.

This role will be a really important aspect of the organisation’s success. We are looking for multiple volunteer co-ordinators, each focusing on different aspects of the organisation or part of the journey for our volunteers, whether it is recruitment, development, personalised support, equity building, events, community building and other areas that you may feel would benefit the volunteer team or the organisations supporters/uses.

What is the plan?

The person who is starting the charity up is autistic, has ADHD, CPTSD and also multiple physical conditions that effect daily life and is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has faced a lot of issues in life because of these things.

Living Reasons is being created to fix what we think is a challenging situation that is getting harder to achieve every week, month and year in the current economic, political, environmental and societal landscape. It is not easily defined but we hope the charity objects below will help put context to what we want to achieve, what we can say is that below are the issues we are trying to address, how we do this will change as quickly as society does, but the issues we want to tackle are these:

Graphic Designer

Support DeeMaRa’s visual storytelling by refining book layouts, affirmation posters, and launch assets using Canva and Amazon KDP. Help resolve recent paperback rejections (including coloring books) and prepare editable templates for multilingual editions — starting with South African languages and expanding globally once translations are ready. If possible, create a short video or guide showing how the formatting issues were solved, so we can apply the same process to future books and translations.

The Operations Lead will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of Path to Prosper’s activities. As Operations Lead, you will lead in various administrative, logistical, and operational tasks, enabling the CEO, Board and Operations Team to maximise the charities impact. This position is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to host our online bingo group once a month! If you enjoy engaging with people, have a passion for games and want to make a difference in your community, this is the role for you!

What you will be doing

• Host and manage online bingo games once a month, ensuring a smooth and fun experience for all players
• Monitor the chat and ensure a respectful and welcoming environment.
• Interact with players, answer questions, and offer assistance to ensure everyone feels included.
• Announce game progress, call numbers, and congratulate winners.

The skills you need

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• A warm and friendly personality helps to create a positive environment.

Help DeeMaRa Foundation build a professional, scalable team structure by fully utilizing our Office 365 Business Basic tools. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital leadership role in a well-established and growing charity that supports families across Suffolk.
