Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?

Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.

This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.

Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager. Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are creating a fundraising strategy for our next phase of work: an exciting programme of community projects. If you have experience of planning or running fundraising campaigns, we would love to hear from you. Our community-led strategic process, as well as all of our work, is open for everyone to participate in.

The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. We understand that people may not have a lot of time to give, so we want to find volunteers who could give us one-off or ongoing strategic advice and support.

Time Commitment: 1 hour a week

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people seeking safety and a fresh start?

At Baca, we support our young people to achieve an increase in personal safety, social engagement and engagement with education. We also support them to improve their physical and emotional wellbeing.

The Volunteer Team roles are designed to help provide extra support regarding the development of our young people, who are 16-18-year-old unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees. The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) mentoring team is an essential part of the young people’s learning and development with their education. We have seen a significant difference in some young people’s confidence with their learning through this project and it has therefore become one of our core activities.

Each ESOL mentor is matched with either one or two young people, and they will support their young people with their ESOL learning from arrival at Baca, through to when those young people start college externally. The length of time is dependent on the young person and their level of education and confidence when they join us. The ESOL mentor role supports the following three main outcomes:

• Improved ability to use English Language
• Improved self confidence
• Increased positive interactions within the local community

Our mentors must have a passion for serving young un-accompanied asylumseeking children and be fully sympathetic to the purpose of Baca and the needs and circumstances of the young people we support. 

Treasurer and Bookkeeper Volunteer

What the role involves:

A support group treasurer and bookkeeper take on specific roles and responsibilities in the managing and reporting of the group’s finances.  One volunteer can do both roles or two volunteers can work together, dividing responsibilities.  The key tasks are:

Bookkeeper:

• Digital recording of all group income and expenditure using a monthly account spreadsheet
• Submit monthly accounts to the Stroke Association together with receipts and paying in slips
• Have access to the group’s online bank account to pay invoices
• Prepare a financial summary for the annual review meeting of the group 
• Liaise closely with the group treasurer (where the role is split)
• Aware of the Stroke Association financial guidelines
• Work together with the Stroke Association’s Finance Administrator

Treasurer/card holder:

• Manage the groups prepaid card
• Oversee the day to day income and expenditure, using the group’s pre-paid card and petty cash 
• Have access to the group’s online bank account to pay invoices
• Ensure all expenses and invoices are paid on time
• Bank any cash or cheques with the Barclays deposit card 
• Each month collate receipts, invoices, volunteer claims and registers of all group income and expenditure and email to the bookkeeper (where the role is split) Liaise closely with the book keeper (where the role is split) 
• Ensure the group follows the Stroke Association’s financial guidelinesWork with fellow volunteers to ensure the group spends in line with the charitable objectives and financial information is transparent

Training for this role:

We provide all of our support group treasurers, cardholders and bookkeepers with training so they feel confident in the role and give the best possible support to stroke survivors.  All training is over Zoom.

• GDPR (online module over Learn and factsheet)
• Safeguarding training (online module over Learn)
• Finance training modules (total of 3 hours)

We also offer ongoing support and expenses where appropriate.

Where and when you would volunteer:

The bookkeeper can be a remote role, supporting the financial running of a group from your home for approximately 2 hours per month.  As you are not going to the group, you do not need to do the safeguarding training.  You’ll need to do the other essential training though.

The treasurer/cardholder is usually a face to face role, one which requires attending the group sessions for sometimes up to 2 hours a week.  This will depend on how often your local group meets.

Get Out There groups are a growing division of Sense that cater for children between 6 and 16 with complex needs. As a volunteer you'll make sure that everyone has a great time and can make the most of the activities on offer. You'll need lots of energy, a warm and welcoming personality and to be happy getting stuck in to a wide range of tasks and activities, all of which make sure that everyone has the best day they can together. 

What your role will involve

• Taking part in activities alongside disabled young people. You could be joining creative activities, movement or sports session, trips out in to the local community or seasonal themed activities.
• Helping to set up the activities at the start of the day, clear away at the end and keep activities safe, clean and running smoothly throughout.
• Helping to welcome young people to the group, find their way around and between activities, enjoy breaks and lunchtime and generally have a great day with the team and Sense.

A basic / enhanced Disclosure & Barring check will be required for this volunteer role.

Coempowered is a small but rapidly developing non-profit working to empower indiviuals and help build community capacity among for young people, women, and marginalised communities in the UK and internationally through workshops, classes, semiar, projects and research. About the Opportunity
This role is central to Coempowered’s next stage of development. We are positioning ourselves to apply for our first grants, develop partnerships, and build sustainable funding streams. We are looking for someone who can take initiative, collaborate closely with the directors, and contribute strategically to our fundraising capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to make a tangible difference in a small organisation and to help shape its future.

Key Deliverables

• Research suitable grant opportunities and funding sources.

• Assist in preparing core organisational documents, including:

  • Activity reports

  • Business plans

  • Project proposals and bids

• Write compelling grant applications tailored to funders’ criteria.

• Prepare outreach materials, donor communications, and mailshots.

• Use direct mailing and other methods to engage potential and existing donors.

• Support the recruitment, coordination, and management of volunteers involved in fundraising activities.

• Ensure smooth execution of all tasks related to fundraising, documentation, and relationship-building.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or partnership development (professional or voluntary).

• Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive proposals.

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Self-motivation and reliability, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Time Commitment
Flexible and remote, approximately 4–6 hours per week, depending on grant cycles.

Purpose:
To create, manage, and optimise digital fundraising campaigns that drive donor engagement, ambassador participation, and online revenue for the CIC.

Key Tasks:

• Establish and run online fundraising campaigns across social platforms, email, live streams, and community networks

• Help build the online infrastructure for the Volunteer Fundraising Ambassador Programme, including toolkits, digital scripts, social media assets, and onboarding materials

• Develop donor journeys, automation flows, and campaign funnels that convert supporters into recurring donors

• Analyse campaign performance, track KPIs, and present clear data reports to the Senior Fundraising Manager

• Work with the Digital Infrastructure Team to integrate donation forms, CRM systems, email platforms, and dashboards

• Support creative storytelling—producing digital content that is ethical, trauma-informed, powerful, and community-centred

• Stay updated with digital fundraising trends and tools to ensure our campaigns remain innovative and scalable
