The Role: 

Dynamic Trustees needed, with charity and commercial skills, to support mental health CIO. With an ambitious development programme up and running, we need to expand our Trustee Board. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a crucial time of growing demand for our services. 

About Us: 

Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in mainly Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. Our counselling community is made up of 50 – 60 qualified self-employed practitioners, working part-time. We deliver talking therapies to adults – online and in person. Our service delivers around 500 counselling sessions per month to a broad range of individuals, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access counselling support. Evolve also provides supervision, reflective practice, critical incident support, and mental health awareness and related training, to organisations and businesses large and small. 

What We’re Looking For: 

Our Trustee Board is currently drawn from the counselling and therapies community, plus commercial and other charity backgrounds. Now, with crucial development of the CIO ahead, we are looking for new members to expand the Board to its maximum ten places and to gain skills and insight from an equal, diverse and inclusive group that takes in business skills, knowledge of charities, and experience of not-for-profit finances to make growth plans a reality. 

The Board will keep us on track with good governance through oversight of our work and will also help our keen new CEO to secure a sound financial base from which to grow our operations to meet the ever-increasing demand for our services.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our Hambleton and Richmondshire Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience with a large charity, develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. Help women with PCOS manage their condition through our health program

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects 1 in 10 women globally, yet it remains one of the most under-diagnosed and misunderstood hormonal disorders. Our startup addresses the social and healthcare inequality faced by individuals with PCOS, who often experience delayed diagnosis, misinformation, and a lack of holistic support. Many face chronic physical and emotional challenges—ranging from irregular periods and infertility to anxiety, depression, and body image issues.

Socially, PCOS is stigmatised and frequently dismissed, especially in low-resource settings, where access to specialised care is limited and digital health education is minimal. Environmental challenges also arise from a lack of culturally sensitive, inclusive, and personalised resources for managing lifestyle and medical interventions.

We aim to close these gaps by providing accessible, evidence-based tools and community support to help individuals manage PCOS proactively—supporting not just physical health, but also mental well-being, self-advocacy, and long-term empowerment.

About the Role

As part of the Charity’s Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, financial management and governance of the organisation to ensure that at every step we are working to improve people’s experiences of health and social care services. To achieve this, you will:

• Ensure that the organisation works within its mission and charitable objectives and is compliant with charity and company law within the jurisdictions within which it is registered and operates.
• Further the charitable objectives of the organisation, including promoting our mission and staying true to our values.
• Ensure that the organisation’s policies, practice, performance, and operations are in keeping with our aims and objectives.

Responsibilities

Members of the Board of Trustees are expected to:

• Be an active and engaged member of the Trustee group.
• Take part in regular board meetings with a frequency of 6 to 8 meetings each year.
• Undertake work outside board meetings, eg preparation and reading.
• Participate in sub-committees, reflecting trustees’ policies or concerns or provide high level input to defined organisational projects from time to time.
• Interact, respond to and provide constructive challenge to our staff and other board members.

Commitment

The full Board of Trustees meets every two months, usually in Oxford or remotely via video conference. There may be sub committees, with authority delegated to them by the Board, meeting at other intervals; and staff may seek to consult with you on your particular expertise. Occasionally, you may also be asked to represent Picker at meetings with potential funders or influencers, attend our report or product launches, or work alongside staff at events and receptions. We expect the typical commitment to be around one to two days per month.

Pay range and compensation package

This is an unpaid post, though reasonable expenses incurred through performance of duties will be reimbursed.

Qualifications

Applicants must be committed to the values and vision of Picker and committed to understanding and using people’s perspectives to improve health and social care. Demonstrable passion and commitment to person centred care for health and social care users, their carers and families, and staff is essential.

Required Skills

A background in one or more of the following areas is very desirable for these appointments:

• Communications – with experience of raising the profile of a similar sized charity or organisation to Picker.
• Business development – with expertise in identifying new opportunities to create long term impact.
• Finance experience – with a keen eye for numbers, although you do not necessarily need to be financially qualified.
• Health service – with experience as a user of health and care services, as a researcher in health and social care or as a health service practitioner or manager, whether in the NHS, the private sector, or internationally.
• Social care – with experience of working in or managing a social care provider or elsewhere in the sector.

Preferred Skills

Experience, knowledge, and skills:

• A commitment to the aims and strategic objectives of Picker and the ambitions of its growth strategy.
• A commitment to understanding and using the patient, client, service user, or consumer perspective in health and social care.

RSBC are looking for volunteers to get involved with our range of online clubs for children and young people with visual impairments. 

Role: Online Activities Volunteer

Commitment: Currently, sessions are run both during the week (mostly in the afternoon) and at weekends (usually on a Saturday). Activity volunteering is a flexible commitment, and you will be able to sign up for the session you like and when you have time. It really is up to you and your availability.

What will I be doing?

Our amazing Activity Volunteers play a key role in supporting blind children and young people to take part in a variety of activities. These range from sports, creative (singing, performing, art), audiobook club and day trips. Our activities are designed for blind young people to meet new friends, gain confidence, learn new skills/sports, and become more independent. The skills you have developed in your career and personal life will be invaluable to our young people. 

Key Tasks and Main Duties

• facilitate the communication and social interaction between participants 

• encourage members of the group to participate and share their opinions 

Who are you?

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow RSBC’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for RSBC. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of sight problems.
