What is the time commitment?

Role: Trustee – Fundraising Specialist 

We are looking for a new Trustee with significant fundraising experience to help us grow and diversify our income and contribute to our overall strategic direction.

InterVol is a student volunteering charity in the United Kingdom that connects students with volunteering opportunities locally and overseas. InterVol supports students to develop their skills with community projects in the UK and then use those skills to support the work of charitable partners overseas on health, education, refugee support, and conservation placements. Our project placements and volunteering opportunities are designed by our local partners with the long-term needs of beneficiaries and communities in mind. InterVol supports a network of four student societies at English universities with around one hundred volunteers annually.

InterVol is looking to increase its presence on university campuses around England and Wales, and therefore we are accepting applications from university students interested in setting up a student committee.As a committee member, you will be responsible for recruiting students to volunteer locally and abroad, liaising between the board of trustees and the committee, and recruiting committee members for the next academic year. We are the Surrey East Branch of the RSPCA, and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion.

• To be familiar with and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA. 

• To be familiar with our branch rules and follow them at all times. 

• To work with your fellow trustees and branch officers to jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of our branch and the RSPCA.

About the RSPCA

What are we looking for? 

• Most people aged 18 or over are eligible to become a trustee. You will need to become a member of the RSPCA. Good interpersonal skills are important. You do not need to be an expert, although commitment, common sense and the ability to be objective is vital. 

• Specific skills such as finance, fundraising, project management, business experience, and awareness of employment and/or charity legislation can be useful, but not essential. 

• Trustees must sign a Trustee Declaration of Willingness to Act to clarify that they are not disqualified from being a trustee and that they accept the post. 

• In addition to our standard declaration of willingness, trustees also need to complete a declaration from the Charity Commission and read their guidance for individuals on who can’t be a trustee or senior manager of a charity.

BloodForce

We work in Ghana to eliminate the burden of blood acquisition on providers and patients in crisis by leveraging technology to galvanize the public to increase Ghana’s Blood Collection Index to greater than 10 by 2030, because no patient in crisis should die from unavailability of blood products.

Ghana at 5.6 per 1000 population, is significantly behind WHO minimum standard [10 per 1,000 population] required to meet a country’s basic transfusion needs. As a result, restrictive blood disbursement policies have resulted in delayed care for critical patients in Ghana and in many cases, avoidable deaths.

We believe that public communities can be mobilized to close gaps in health care delivery, particularly in developing countries. BloodForce plans to build an online blood donor community that can reliably and meaningfully increase blood donation rates in Ghana while helping patients and families navigate their blood product health crises. This community will also serve as a platform for advocacy and education, strengthening transfusion services across the country.

Time2Share@WECIL’s Befriending Service links volunteers 1:1 with a Disabled child / young person. Links are based on shared interests and activities which the volunteer and young person can enjoy doing together either in the child/family home or out in the community.

What experience do I need?

You do not need any previous experience with disabled children or young people, but we ask that volunteers are friendly, caring, reliable and able to make a commitment to visit a young person regularly.

What will I be doing?

You will volunteer within Time2Share@WECIL’s befriending service for disabled children/young people (aged 5-18 yrs) and their families. This involves spending time regularly with a disabled child or young person in their home or supporting the young person to take part in social and leisure activities in their local community. You will not be asked to administer medication or deliver personal care in this role.

Who am I responsible for?

You are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person you are linked with. All links are risk-assessed and carefully monitored by your co-ordinator.

Who am I responsible to?

The parent / carer. You must ensure that the parent / carer’s reasonable instructions and guidance regarding the welfare of their child are adhered to and that clear communication is maintained. Feedback must be given to the parent/carer following a visit.

How often will I be needed?

Time2Share@WECIL typically ask for volunteers to commit to 2-4 hours a week and the days / times are agreed between the volunteer and the family. We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months to ensure the child and their family are able to benefit fully from the relationship.

We are looking to build our LinkedIn profile and our reach into the business world. The role will include advancing our connections and cultivating lasting relationships in communities of like minded companies. Content creation, updating on news and arranging in person meetings when needed are a key part of the role so candidates will need good communication skills, creative writing experience and be tech savvy. Although remote the team are in daily contact when needed and meet in person at major fundraising events where live updates can be posted. We are passionate about animal welfare so if you love dogs and have a creative skillset and some business flair come and join us.

Shout is the UK’s only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope. When people text 'Shout' to 85258, they are connected to a Shout Volunteer for a text conversation. Our volunteers provide a safe space for people to share what's causing them distress, while showing warmth and compassion.

Tasks and Responsibilities

If your application is successful, you’ll be enrolled in a training group. New groups start every two weeks.

Shout Volunteers receive 25 hours of free training in communication, listening, managing and assessing risk, and problem solving. The training is self-paced and done online. You’ll learn how to bring people in distress to a place of calm and practice skills that will be useful to you throughout life.

As we are investing in you throughout your time with us, our hope is that you will complete the training in a timely manner and look at this as a longer term commitment. The experience you gain over time is valuable and our goal is to have volunteers commit to 200 hours on the platform, which can take up to two years to complete, as we ask you to take one 2-4 hour shift per week. 

Our Volunteer Training Support team is here to support you, answer any questions and provide feedback during training and throughout your time with Shout. You’ll be joining an incredibly supportive volunteer community and have access to the resources you need to do your role.

As a volunteer, you’ll be supporting people in distress, so it’s important we see the skills required to do that while you are in training. While most trainees complete the training and go on to volunteer, not everyone will pass the training. If this happens, there are other ways you can still support us.

The personal reference can be a friend or colleague but the other must be someone who knows you professionally or has supervised you in some way. 

This could be a manager or supervisor from where you work or a teacher or educator from where you study. We recommend you choose references who are able to speak to your ability to fulfil the selection criteria outlined above.

We do not accept references from family members. This includes your partner or their relatives, your children, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents or godparents.

Endometriosis UK is the largest UK charity for those with endometriosis. Endometriosis UK works to:

• Provide support to those with endometriosis and their families and friends
• Provide clear, objective information about the condition and its treatments
• Raise awareness amongst health professionals and the general public about the condition
• Support research into endometriosis.

This is an unpaid role. Reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses will be paid.

Time commitment:

• five Trustee Board meetings a year, including preparation for meetings, reading papers etc; and attendance at an annual strategy day and AGM (held on the same days as Board meetings). Three meetings are held in person on London on a Saturday, with two meetings being virtual evening meetings.
• Trustees have the opportunity to take part in Board sub-groups and project groups to develop aspects of the organisations’ work. Current sub-groups include the Finance Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Sub-Group.

Trustees are also invited to attend Endometriosis UK events.

We are currently recruiting for ONE NEW TRUSTEE to join the board. We are particularly looking for significant experience of charity governance, management and best practice. Examples of how this might have been gained include having worked at a senior level in a charity, or previous trustee experience.

If you are keen to join the Endometriosis UK Board and don’t have this experience, there will be further opportunities over the next year as we will be recruiting for more trustees as Board members reach their maximum length of service. Keep an eye on our social media for more information.

Personal experience of living with, or having a close family member with, endometriosis, is vital on our Board. Whilst we look favourably on applications from those in the endometriosis community, we already have Trustees with first hand lived experience and new trustees do not need to have endometriosis.

Why we want you

Please note: This role is only suitable for applicants aged 18 and over.

We’re seeking friendly, reliable individuals aged 18 or over who want to make a difference in their community. No prior experience is needed, as we provide full training. If you’re open to learning, enjoy working with others, and have a passion for helping people, you’ll fit right in!

You have the time to become a volunteer in your community; you might be looking for work experience, the opportunity to meet new people, or keep active.

By volunteering with us in one of our amazing retail spaces you will be raising essential funds for Oxfam – all whilst learning new skills and meeting some incredible people.

What you will be doing

• Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:
• Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.
• Chatting to customers who drop off donations and other members of the team.
• Preparing stock to be put out on the shop floor, ready for sale.
• Researching valuable and vintage stock.
• Photographing and listing items for the online shop.
• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

What happens next?

“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Legal Assistant to support the organisation in ensuring legal compliance and best practice across all departments. This remote volunteer opportunity is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on legal experience within the nonprofit sector while contributing to a meaningful community-focused project.

Position Overview:
The Legal Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that Quilombo UK’s operations—including its programmes, policies, and partnerships—are fully compliant with current UK legal standards. The role involves reviewing legal documentation, supporting contract management, advising on compliance issues, and assisting teams such as HR, Marketing, and Funding to uphold required legal frameworks. This is a fantastic opportunity for a legally trained individual seeking to apply their knowledge in a purposeful, community-led environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Compliance & Advisory:

• Assist in ensuring that projects, policies, and operations are legally compliant with up-to-date UK legislation and regulatory standards.

• Provide legal support in reviewing and interpreting organisational contracts and documents.

• Work with HR to review onboarding documentation and volunteering agreements.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

• Offer legal guidance to teams across Marketing, Funding, HR, and Finance to support compliant decision-making.

• Ensure all documentation and activities across teams are aligned with internal legal standards.

Contract Management & Documentation:

• Support the creation, organisation, and maintenance of contracts and legal documents.Assist in ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly communicated and upheld.

Research & Reporting:

• Conduct legal research as needed to support internal inquiries and programme development.

• Prepare reports or summaries for leadership as requested.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification (or significant progress toward one).

Experience:

• Experience or strong knowledge of legal documentation, UK employment law, or contract management.

• (Desirable) Experience in a legal assistant or paralegal capacity.

Skills:

• Excellent legal research, writing, and document-review skills.

• Good understanding of UK legal frameworks relevant to nonprofit organisations.

• Strong time-management and organisation skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high professional integrity.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
