Working in the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) community is the mainstay of our current activity, and whilst your credibility and our work in this area will remain important to us in our shared future, we’re looking to appoint an inspiring and commercially savvy Programme Lead who will bring experience of working across wider, often complex systems and sectors within social care, education, health, and locality based supports, to expand our work and impact in new ways. Your experience and specialist knowledge could include Autism, Looked After Children, Young Offenders, Mental Health, and Wellbeing.

As a member of our Leadership & Strategy group, the Programme Lead will be responsible for resource planning, providing direction and great support to our colleagues, ensuring that the work NDTi delivers is consistently of high quality, and that the activities and achievements of the team contribute towards the strategic direction and priorities of the wider organisation.

With well-developed commercial and sector expertise, you will be a skilled and sensitive communicator with excellent planning and strategic development skills. You will need to demonstrate that you can influence and inspire stakeholders at all levels and be able to respond effectively to changing political and legislative opportunities and challenges, and achieve the funding and income needed to build our Children and Young People programme. You will need to demonstrate that you have the sector knowledge and skills to offer leadership to the programme team in turning ideas into commissioned or funded projects.

We’re looking for a self-motivated, empathetic, and dynamic Community Mental Health Recovery Support Worker to join our one-to-one mental health support service. You’ll be primarily responsible for supporting people to identify and meet their self-defined mental health needs and aspirations, to understand the range of options available to them, to support them emotionally, and to connect them with appropriate community resources and services.

The post involves working directly with service users, volunteers, and in partnership with colleagues across different sectors in Camden. You’ll be working collaboratively alongside partners and statutory providers to adapt the service offers to meet changing local needs. You will be contributing to the transformation of community mental health services across Camden.

Working within the PR team, the Case Study Manager has a key role in raising our profile, improving how different audiences understand our work and building relationships with key stakeholders both regionally and nationally. 

The role will need to develop strong, collaborative relationships across the organisation, including with our SSAFA volunteer network, as well as with other charitable organisations across the sector. 

About the team 

The PR team is a small but dynamic group of individuals with strong skillsets across press release and article writing, selling in pitches and campaign planning. The team is a mix of ex-forces and civilians, and they are always sharing knowledge and expertise with each other.

You will work closely across all directorates within SSAFA to garner information and source case studies for each of the PR needs across regions and services.

About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have:

• Degree or equivalent 
• Experience working in a busy press office, PR team or with a journalism background 
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Experience of interviewing vulnerable people preferable

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, SE16.  Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects.

T&T has grown substantially over the last 5 years, and we are in an exciting time for the charity. We are reviewing our long-term aims and changing local needs to ensure  programme delivery continues our extensive track record of positive outcomes. We also need to review our current contracted provision and best practices in the charity’s business and operations.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a Birmingham/West Midlands Programme Manager from September 2024 who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around the Birmingham and West Midlands area. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

Role Requirements:

Essential

Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors (London) - £29,000  per annum plus London Weighting (pro-rata)

The role is responsible for overseeing high-quality sourcing of volunteers to join as 1MM Mentors, in London and nationally. This includes partnership development, online site listing, and matching mentors/mentees, and oversight of some corporate programmes. Also to consider safeguarding measures, fundraising, meeting growth targets and leading all aspects of mentor management. The role will help to establish a pipeline in line with 1MM’s aspirations for 2024 and beyond.  This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

1MM Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors main tasks include:

• Helping 1MM to scale by helping establish over 150 new, high quality mentoring matches each quarter. (A match means that the mentor and the mentee have completed 1MM’s training and have had their first meeting)

• Meeting all quality assurance KPIs.

• Maximising conversion, retention, and mitigate drop-off

• Providing ongoing support for key stakeholder partners, including Employers, and maintaining strong relationships.

• Securing at least one new partner per quarter.

• Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to users.

• Providing regular reports on progress related to the role.

• Potential for line-management responsibilities as the team grows.

Terms and Conditions: This is a full time role offered in London, for 6 months (continuing subject to funding). This is a hybrid role with two days working at home, two days in the London office, and one day where it is up to you.

Remuneration and benefits: Salary bracket of £29,000 per annum plus London Weighting (pro rata), up to 6.5% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday per year (pro rata).  We also offer monthly team Learning and Development training sessions, and 15 hours volunteering allowance per year.

Based in our Welcome Area, this role is central to our Community Support provision, where the post-holder will be our community's first point of contact, responsible for greeting service users and supporting them with general enquiries and referrals. 

They will be expected to register and monitor users in our database, organise appointments, and manage our various communication channels, such as emails, helpline, and IRMO broadcast lists. Supported by a team of volunteers, they will manage community enquiries, ensuring IRMO is always a welcoming environment for the community. They will collaborate closely with other operational areas to ensure service users receive relevant, up-to-date information.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week FT but part time will be considered 

Location: Hybrid home and working across Citizens Advice Hounslow (CAH) sites in London Borough of Hounslow 60/40 or 50/50 depending on requirement

Citizens Advice Hounslow is a well-established charity operating in the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting over 10,000 clients a year. To sustain our service, we now require a dedicated Training & Development Manager.

Job Purpose

• Lead training and development for all colleagues (Staff and Volunteers) and guide people through the Adviser Learning Programme (ALP)
• Drive our recruitment and retention strategy for volunteers
• Develop and deliver our Training and Development Plan

This pivotal role will be responsible for the selection, training and deployment of our volunteers across all service areas. A key focus will be to facilitate effective training pathways for paid staff and volunteers. You will be required to design and deliver group training sessions, and monitor trainee progress and development through structured training programmes.

PR Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a busy, high-performing public relations team at a national charity caring for the NHS. We’re looking for a brilliant, proactive and resourceful PR manager who is passionate about the NHS and generating amazing media coverage for a charity, in this remote and flexible working role.

Position: PR Manager

Location: Remote/flexible (must be able to work in Warwick and London offices occasionally)

Salary: £41,000 - 46,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week)

The Role

The PR Manager plays a central role, working closely with the Head of Media to manage the public relations function of the charity. You will be responsible for helping to develop and execute prominent and high impact national and regional media campaigns, to help people better understand the mission and take action to support it.

Your main duties and responsibilities include:

· Generate regular, positive, proactive media coverage

· Proactively sell stories into the media as well as react to incoming enquiries

· Work with the Head of Media to develop impactful press strategies in line with the wider PR strategy

· Take a proactive approach to gathering NHS staff, member and supporter case studies

· Identify and develop high quality media pitches, spotting slots and opportunities and piggybacking on the news agenda where appropriate

· Build positive working relationships with target journalists

· Monitor and evaluate media coverage and PR activity, sharing coverage with key internal and external stakeholders

· Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of the issues affecting the NHS, and the wider political environment support liaison with NHS England, DHSC and other bodies to build relationships and ensure alignment of messages

The role is a hybrid of office and home working, requiring occasional meetings at the Warwick office. The team also meets in London but this is flexible, depending on the location of the successful candidate.

About You

You will have experience working in public relations. You will have experience of leading successful PR media relations strategies, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be creative and passionate about delivering impactful work, with a proven ability to be highly organised and manage your own workload.

You will also have:

· Experience in developing and implementing media strategies for a high-profile organisation.

· Demonstrable evidence of successfully pitching to and building relationships with national, regional and sector journalists.

· A strong track record in reactive media management for an organisation in the public eye.

· Excellent time management skills and an ability to consistently meet deadlines.

· Excellent political awareness

· A strong track record in writing impactful content for different channels.

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
